I have never written a review before but I just had to give a shoutout to Victoria at Vain! Every time I go and see her it’s a great experience. I just saw her to get a new fresh summer cut and I couldn’t be happier! I have gotten non-​stop compliments on my new shorter hair (she cut about 3 – 4 inches off). I only trust her with my hair and have been going to her since moving to Austin about 3 years ago.
Victoria makes me feel so welcomed every time I sit in her chair. She always has a new and fun idea for me to try out and if you’re game like I am then you won’t ever regret it. You are in good hands! I have blonde very fine hair that is stick straight… so I have had fun exploring other fun color options with her and different techniques and products (ask her about mermaid waves!). She knows how to get the most out of every hair cut and keeps it real when it comes to what looks best on my skin tone and face shape.

I am writing a review for Sabrina. Over the past 7 years I have followed her across town to different salons and spas. No one in town does a better facial– She is amazing. From the moment you meet her you know you are in the presence of a kind and genuine individual who has a passion for what she does.
I have sent many friends from near and far and they all love her… my mom even gets excited to see her when she comes down from Seattle.
Very talented, passionate and a beautiful person to spend a part of your day with… you will leave feeling pretty, that’s for sure.

I’ve been seeing Sabrina for all my skin care needs for the last 4 years now. She is extremely gentle and kind, and I can honestly say my skin has never looked better. I get more compliments on my skin now at 30 years old than I have my entire life. For someone who struggled with cystic acne through most of my 20’s, that’s an incredible feeling. One I never ever thought I could have without accutane or spironlactone, like every dermatologist recommended. I’m so glad Sabrina made me stick it out with a healthier regimen instead. Sabrina carries all organic Eminence products and uses it in all my facial appointments. She has recently added a cellulite treatment that has worked wonders on my butt/​thighs! It’s added lift, smoothed out my cellulite, and overall tightened the area. She also does microcurrent on my husband’s neck. She’s even sugared my brows a few times too. Basically there’s nothing she can’t do to get you looking and feeling like a rockstar! Go see Sabrina at Vain! You won’t be disappointed!

im not a big review writer and i know this place is very good and 4 or 5 star worthy. I am just a little bummed b/​c i got a haircut today that was just a shorter version of my already not that great style that i was hoping to change.
Pro tip: i think if you want it styled at all i think you have to indicate on their appt. type b/​c maybe i did not alot enough time for a style but i asked about that really awesome «curl wave hair with the blunt chop at the bottom» style and the stylist just told me how to do it at home… and didn’t do it there. Its what the have all over their instagram page… my real estate agent has that style. how DO I get it?!

Crystal was very accommodating, friendly and did a nice job on my hair. I really enjoyed my experience here because of her but did not feel welcomed when I first walked in by the receptionist. I waited for a while before she checked me in and felt her attitude was condescending. I understand that this is a busy salon, but every customer should be greeted with the same amiability. I expect to be treated the same as everyone else. I saw other customers being offered water and beer, but the same offer was not extended to me. This was my first time at the salon, and I was expecting something different. For a $ 80+ haircut, I would expect a little bit more customer service.

This place is very cute! They offer hot tea when you walk and and I was able to make an appointment right away with Jessie who gave me the best long bob! She did a great job and I have fine hair so it is always a concern. I would highly recommend her for cuts! I’ll be back to try out a color

I had gotten my hair cut and colored by the same woman for 12 years, so I was fairly nervous about switching to someone new after moving to Austin. I’ve got a short blonde pixie and was looking for a change but nothing too crazy. Kate did a great job on my hair and recommended some great products-I’ve been using them for over a week now and I love them! Will definitely come back here and recommend her to anyone.

After reading the great reviews and seeing some of the colour work on their Instagram page, I chose Vain to get highlights done (a little lighter than normal so wanted to make sure I went to a good colourist).
Booking over the phone went smoothly and the person I spoke with was very patient and helpful when I had questions.
I was booked with Penny, who, from the second I sat down, was very engaged and talked with me for some time trying to figure out what I like/don’t like/​was looking for. I came out with the best colour I have ever gotten and will definitely be back. Everyone working there was super professional and talented. I highly recommend, and Penny is so so talented!

Victoria at Vain Salon worked some magic on my hair! I have naturally thick, dark brown hair and wanted to change it up by going a bit lighter. My worst fear, being of Mexican decent and having dark skin, is wondering: 1) if I can even go that light, 2) keeping it healthy, AND 3) not wanting it to turn orange. I also wanted to not do an ombré cuz that is a bit dated and didn’t want highlights, so Victoria did a Balayage coloring. She hit the nail on the head with where she painted the color and the actual color of the end product — a nice brown to light blonde fade. Victoria was really easy to work with and it came out just as I envisioned. She also gave me helpful tips to keep my mane healthy and I feel comfortable reaching out if I have any questions.
Vain Salon has a lot of character and isn’t «too hip», if you know what I mean. It’s just hip enough ;) I can’t stand a pretentious vibe; everyone there is very nice and accommodating. It’s also not outlandishly expensive, it’s not cheap by any means, but you get what you pay for. I have a great color and cut and will recommend to all my lady friends looking for a fun, trusting place to go. Ask for Victoria and tell her I said HI!

I should probably start by saying that I’m pretty picky about my hair. I’ve had enough disasters brought upon well-​meaning stylists to be very loyal to the ones who execute something along the lines of what we discuss before they get started.
That being said, I hadn’t had a chance to see my stylist before moving to Austin. It’d been a couple of months since I’d gotten anything touched up. When I came to see Crystal, my hair was a mess! It was too dry, too frizzy, and way too blonde. She was great about listening to what I wanted (any style that includes the fits the description of «long layers,» «natural,» and «low-​maintenance») and asking what I would and wouldn’t be willing to try before she got started.
Crystal left me with the most beautiful, natural-​looking color. I really couldn’t (and can’t) stop looking at it. My hair is almost black, so highlights are necessary to make sure that I don’t look sickly. For the first time, it looks like I have natural highlights. I can’t stress this enough. For once, it doesn’t look like someone dipped random parts of my hair in bleach and called it a day. (Nothing wrong with that and I love you former stylists, but I have seen the light. No pun intended.) She took me back to a dark brown, but kept some of the blonde at the tips. I don’t even know how she did it. I don’t want to be overdramatic and say it’s magic, but, it kind of is.

I used to go see Ashley V at a different salon and was so glad to have found her again at Vain! I was finally getting my hair cut the shortest it’s been in years and Ashely did such a great job. She always did magical layer things when my hair was much longer, and now the short little layered bob I got is equally fantastic. It’s easy to schedule online, and the front desk is super nice and helpful as well. It’s really a great space. Ashley also does awesome things with color, can’t wait to get some highlights done!

I have been here a few times to visit Erica, the aesthetician that has a space in Vain. It is always a pleasant experience. Erica is warm and welcoming, making it feel less like a business and more like visiting your bestie at her home. Erica is very knowledgable about skin care and talks with you about her process as well as any concerns you might have. Erica creates a beautiful mood with wine and a killer playlist to set you in the mood to be pampered!
My skin always feels luxurious after visiting her. I regularly go there for both my skin care routine and waxing!
Also, Erica is great at checking In with you post-​visit to make sure everything is going well! Highly recommend going to see her for all your skin and beauty needs. You won’t be disappointed!

Just received an AMAZING hair cut and balayage hi-​light from Ashley V. I tend to be weary and skeptical when it comes to hair cuts and colorists but Ashley definitely has a true passion and talent. Highly recommend and definitely going back!

I had a great haircut with Crystal! She was recommended to me by a friend, who said Crystal was great at chopping off long hair and turning into awesome pixie cuts, and she didn’t disappoint! She seemed a bit wary of cutting my hair at first (I’d be cutting about 10in), but once I told her I’d had a pixie cut before, she was totally on board, and did a fantastic job.
Crystal was easy to chat with, and she gave me good advice based on the pictures I brought in for reference. She knew which ideas were realistic for my hair, and even suggested some changes that I hadn’t thought of, which made my haircut look better in the end!
The salon itself was very nice and clean, and has a cozy, unique style. And I got to have a beer while I was waiting for my hair to dry in the heat drying machine! Always a plus! The haircut was a little bit on the expensive side, but I was prepared for that, since I was getting a ‘transformation’ haircut. I was totally prepared to drop a lot of money, since I was chopping a lot of hair, and good pixie cuts aren’t easy.

I have been going to Erika for all of my waxing needs since I found her here in Austin. She has a wonderfully relatable personality that allows you to relax and actually enjoy the waxing process. If you’re looking for a perfected Brazilian, eyebrow wax, etc. Erika is the girl to see!

After three occurrences of Emily canceling my appointment last minute or I showing up for my appointment to be told she wasn’t there for some reason or another I have moved on to a more reliable salon

OH MY GOD. You know that they don’t ever tell you when there is going to be a loud thunder and one of your cats is just going to completely lose it? I can’t even. I’m sorry.
Hi! I have previous experience having gone to this salon (Vain, it is called) and did get my hair re-​imagined by Victoria and she has always been a true Visionary. This time around I brought in one of my books of exotic birds as a point of reference and Victoria was able to conjure an excellent coloring idea for me very quickly! Someone actually verbally inquired earlier as to whether or not my mother had mated with a parrot (she totally didn’t, BTW). Mission accomplished!
As you may also be well aware, getting one’s hair colored can take a bit of time and involves sitting. Victoria not only allowed me to speak with her during this time but recommended to me an excellent film called «Nightcrawler». I took her recommendation and saw it and was blown away. The star of the film, Maggie Gyllenhaal (in her most transformative role EVER. I sense an Oscar!) reminded me very much of myself 6 months from now, except I will still have better hair. I very highly recommend Victoria from Vain for all of your hair coloring needs. Particularly if you prefer a color or two that others might forget to consider.

She is the best! I moved to Austin and had been salon hopping for my last few haircuts, never really finding what I was looking for. I’ve finally found it. Victoria first sits down with you at the mirror and really talks through what you want. She listens and then goes over what you requested to make sure she understands everything you want and don’t want. She’s very detail oriented and I love that.
Sometimes stylists go through the motions of the first step listed above but don’t deliver. I’m happy to say, Victoria delivers. I loved my hair I walked out with, I didn’t even need to wait a few days for it to «settle in» and get used to it. I get SO many compliments on my haircut from people I don’t know — even stylist friends! I’ve finally found my girl!
Pricing is pretty standard. I think I paid $ ⁶⁰⁄₆₅? for wash & cut.
Love this place, love Victoria!

I followed Victoria from her last salon and as always, I’m so happy with the cuts and color she does for me. She ALWAYS listens to what I want and always has helpful advice to make a haircut I like in a picture, work perfectly for my hair type, length, face shape, and everything!
She is always so fun to talk to and I look forward to the time I get to spend with her. Victoria is a valuable asset to Vain and they know it!
The salon itself is very cute. I like that they carry Kevin Murphy products. The girls at the front are very kind and helpful. The décor is gorgeous and I love how unique the place is.
I am moving in April after I graduate and I’m already having anxiety about finding a new stylist in Virginia. Maybe I’ll just have to fly into Austin every 8 weeks for a touch up!

Enough said right… So yeah she’s amazing!
I came in with two ideas one basic one bold!
I had kinda been persuaded not to do the bold one…(friends family ext.) I showed Joey both and she said the bold which I was was excited about!
I got a awesome massage while my hair was washed and great conversation. That truly made feel welcomed!
After my amazing cut was done she gave me some great tips. Also I felt like I wanted to hug her but didn’t know if that was weird she totally went in for a hug after which was awesome I felt like I’ve known her forever and was hugging my friend goodbye!
So I will be back for the keep up…
So glad I found Vain and more importantly that I found Joey!
