Baja burrito with blacken fish and queso is super good. Their queso is great, get the stoplight. Great place to enjoy Austin but not to crazy. Surf atmosphere. Great staff super wonderful and food comes out fast.

Sorry guys. This place is thumbs down for me. Last time there about 2 weeks ago. Fish tasted funny. I’ve had food poisoning since. I will never go back.

The food was great — a lot of flavor — just know that a taco means A taco. Great pricing, cool scene and awesome service

So, I stopped in because it was the only place with an open front dining room that wasn’t filled. I’m from out of town and was just walking looking for something«authentic.» So the beer selection was ok. I ordered a grapefruit IPA, whatever that is. I enjoyed it! Then there’s the fish taco, which I felt obligated to order. The taco was decent. I still can’t get over these places charging 3.25 for one taco but that’s a problem unique to no one place. The side salad was horrible. They just grabbed some mixed greens from a bag they picked up at the local grocery. Nothing about it seemed fresh. And my pick of salad dressing happened to be the same exact sauce the taco was served with. It was not great on the taco and even worse on the salad. The décor is trying to emulate skate shop. Which it does by placing thousands of stickers literally everywhere. So if that’s your thing go for it.

Awesome Fish Tacos! Ordered the Fish Taco and the Shrimp Taco. There was just the right amount of fish and shrimp in each one, wrapped in a couple of corn tortillas and topped with Wahoo’s special Cole slaw. Also got the chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and seasoned well. The chips were not too thick or too thin. The salsa was just as perfect! Looking forward to more Wahoo’s!

The food is consistently good, but the customer service is amazing. Our family loves to eat out, I grew up in the restaurant business and managed our family restaurant for 5 years after college. The service here exceeds most, if not all, our dining experiences. And it’s true every time we eat in or get the order to go. We enjoy the food and our 1-year-old son does too. He has the kids rice bowl with black beans and grilled fish. He always finished the fish and eats some of the rice and beans. But more importantly. The food makes him happy. Every time we order the staff is attentive and very conscientious. They make sure our 1-year-old’s order is correct and there’s nothing he can’t eat in there. And we love the food too. Tasty fish tacos with some salsa and you’re good to go.

Love, love, love Wahoo’s. The food is great and the staff has always been friendly. It’s nice for sitting down and having a casual bite and they also put to go orders together pretty quickly. My favorite is the Maui bowl. And you can never go wrong with chips and queso!

The late night menu is delicious. The Carne Asada taco. The maverick… All so good. And the bartenders are super friendly. Come check it out

Sit on the patio & people watch while eating some pretty good fish tacos. I like the blackened tacos. My boyfriend likes the burrito. Service is fast, price is good. Décor reminds me of a skate park. The fish can be dry sometimes, it’s not really consistent. But overall, this is a cool spot to grab lunch if you’re out & about on South Congress. Beer & tacos. Can’t go wrong.

These are probably the best fish tacos in town. I find their guacamole fairly boring and the chips are pretty weak sauce. The staff is pretty hit or miss, but mostly hit. If you don’t have a bunch of allergies I think they nail it. Every time I go with some with gluten or cheese allergies their order gets messed up. Next time you’re hungry for some affordable fish tacos hook yourself up and swing by Wahoos.

I been here a couple of times and liked this spot both times. Thus thus is more of 3.5 review because I would come here again. The food is good. I’ve tried the fish tacos with rice and beans and with fries. I wished they had a fried fish option, they only have Cajun or blackened, but the blackened is decent you get coleslaw along with that. I’ve always gotten great service here along with a shirt wait. The fries were hot and crispy and plentiful.

First time for me, second time for my wife. The food was delicious. The service was friendly and helpful. Hoping I get to go back!

I’ve been eating here for 5 years and I STILL believe these are the best fish tacos in town. Blackened or grilled, the fish tastes fresh and full of flavor. The green sauce is delicious and complements their tacos well. After you order, they have a wide range of beers(including craft brews) to kick back while you wait. The restaurant sports multiple HDTVs so you can always catch this weekend’s big game or you can enjoy extreme sports coverage. The décor is cool and there’s even a quasi-patio to soak in the nice weather. But the reason I always comeback is because of the staff. They are inviting and they go the extra mile to make everyone happy. I know this first hand, because I had an incident once and the staff kicked it up a notch to put a smile on my face. Do yourself and your stomach a favor next time you get hungry and stop by.

Good food, incompetent service. Went in and ordered a 2 taco combo with no cheese(due to dairy allergy). Got tacos with cheese. Went back and explained situation. Waited 15 mins for them to re-make. Got two tacos with cheese. Went back and explained situation. Waited 15 mins for them to re-make. Two tacos with cheese again. Went back and demanded a refund. They apologized and said to give them another try sometime and the tacos would be on the house. Several weeks later, went back and ordered a 2 taco combo with no cheese. Got tacos with cheese. I give up.

I was on west 6th and was craving some fish tacos… enter Wahoo’s. I’ve been to Wahoo’s once before and remember it as having stickers everywhere. By everywhere I mean on the seats, the walls, the toilets in the bathrooms… yes…toilets. I hate stickers. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve had a weird phobia of stickers. I just think they’re downright gross. Don’t know why. Anyway, despite my distaste for stickers, I decided to venture back to Wahoo’s. I ordered nachos with blackened fish and no beans. They gave me beans anyway. Oh well. The nachos were good, but they seemed like something I could have made at home. I did like the queso boyfriend ordered. It wasn’t anything fancy, just plain yellow queso. I did however, appreciate that they had an IPA on special.

I like their Maui steak bowl. I’ve been to a the SoCo one and the one across from Kung Fu. Both solid options. I am also a regular at the one at the Wake Board Park heading to San Antonio. It’s nice gourmet, but it tastes good and it’s a chill atmosphere.

Went here with the wife to kill some time and try their tacos. Below is what I experienced at Wahoo’s during my visit: AMBIANCE(0 – 1) Dirty and grungy, with stickers everywhere. My wife wouldn’t dine in again. I personally thought it was cool, not to mention that I’ve been at several decent restaurants in Austin with grunge effect. The restaurant was dimly lit, no obnoxious music, with only a few diners there. (.5 — couldn’t repeat dine-in with wife, but place was grungy clean and roach-free) CUSTOMERSERVICE(0 – 1) So I went to the counter, and the fellow there took my order: 3 street tacos(wife and I shared). Since the wife can’t handle spice, we asked for jalapenos on the side. Was told it wasn’t a problem, and that the order would be up soon. (.5 — decent service; fellow could’ve known more about menu — see below) UNEXPECTEDSTUFF(–1/+1 depending) When I was grabbing a drink at the soda fountain, the same fellow from behind the counter came up with surprising news from the kitchen. Lo and behold, the jalapenos could not be put on the side(I assume the taco filling is pre-made?). He was apologetic, and asked if we wanted to change anything in the order. We told him we’d just see about the spice-level when the food came out. He replied that if it was too spicy, he’d get us something else off the menu. Later with our meal, the server brought out complimentary nachos and cheese for the inconvenience. (1 — handled well) TIMETOEAT(0 – 1) 5 – 10 minutes, food came out! (1 — timely delivery!) FOOD(0 – 2) So our 3 tacos had 3 meats: chicken, steak, and pork. The meat was of noticeably high quality. Really good actually. Other ingredients seemed fresh. Overall, the food was really tasty too. Spice-level was agreeable for me(I like spice) and also the wife. We really had no complaints. (1 — good food, good score) Overall, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos gets 4 stars. It’s a grungy little«hole in the wall» place that sells some tasty tacos and seems to have staff that care about patron experience. I’ll definitely go back, and next time, I’m gonna try those fish tacos!

Wahoos! It’s a simple concept really; burritos and tacos on corn tortillas served with beans and rice. Ambiance is laid back with stickers as their wall paper and décor. I love the simplicity. Good food, great prices and decent drinks.

Went here for lunch with coworkers and this place was pretty busy. The lunch crowd was a lot of young professionals looking for a quick bite to eat. I really liked the atmosphere! The décor was so cool! The walls are covered in stickers from surf and skate companies among other things. Also he music was cool indie rock. The food was priced pretty fairly. It is just a step above the price of food trucks price wise. You walk in, order and pay at the counter, and they give you a number sign. Take it to your table and someone will deliver it. The chips were average, but the queso was really good. I could have eaten it all. I got a salad with grilled fish and it was delicious. The person at the counter gave me a good recommendation and I was really happy about it. They are pretty fast if you order takeout. Also, this place looks like it would be fun at night. There is a separate bar and there are a couple rooms. I will def go again.

I’ve ordered a few items off the menu and have never been wowed. There’s not too special but for what I have tried it’s okay. The ambience at Wahoos is pretty cool, art everywhere! I would go for the Wahoos experience, not for the food.
