I’m a 27 year old male. I’ve been drinking for 6 years(legally). I just stopped by World Liquors after a hard day at the office to pick up some refreshing beer. I was asked for my ID, which is a pretty rare occurrence as a 27 year old at this point, but I happily handed over my drivers license. The unhelpful woman behind the counter tried to scan my ID, but said it wouldn’t scan.(It was pretty clear that she didn’t actually have a scanner, and just pretended to scan the ID — but that’s not really the point). Next, my girlfriend offered over her ID, and the woman behind the counter didn’t even try to scan it – she just flat out rejected it. Now, we both do have out of state IDs since we just moved to Austin two weeks ago, but I can 100% say that once I do get that coveted Texas license, I won’t ever be bringing my business to World Liquors.

Kind of pricey but convenient for the south of congress traveler or resident. The selection is quite good for a small place and they have Tattinger already chilled. The staff there is super friendly.

This place is a bit pricey for what you get. It is conveniently located, but I find that they don’t seem to take very good care of their liquor, and especially not their wine. Wine bottles are stored upright, under bright lights and some even in the sun. In the summertime, I walked in on a 100-degree day and they had no air conditioning running! That wine is toast. I’d still go if I need a bottle of vodka or whiskey. I’d never buy wine there though, at least until they get some AC and empty out the current inventory.
