Fantastic salad, steak, drinks, service. We were extremely happy with 100% of the experience there and I had some fantastic food. This place can certainly produce. We had a party of at least 25, and they accommodated. It was amazing. Filet mignon, etc. Great spot, thanks!

We’ve been going to the chair for years. However this year it has really slipped. We went in for dinner but as soon as we sat down at the bar the smell was so terrible there was no way we could stay. The smell was that sour smell that comes from a dirty bar, and it was so strong it ruined our appetite. We had one drink and left.

I would highly recommend the early bird special here. $ 18 for soup or salad, entrée, dessert and 1 drink(wine, beer, mixed). Can’t really beat that on the island and the food was of much higher quality then I would expect at this price point.

Went and tried the restaurant week menu. Steamers were tasty, portion was small… i guess because of the pre fixe… Spicy tuna on wonton was good and the class casino linguine and steak were good. Dessert was a choice, I ordered the oreo cake. It was ok. Service at bar and kitchen fast and efficient. I wish they had a better selection of wines… But we’ll go back again.

Our service was great. The martinis are awesome — if you don’t get one you are either a recovering alcoholic or insane. We had the wings and calamari. The wings were crispy and not spicy. I like mine spicier. The calamari was fun — it includes deep fried cherry peppers and olives. The kids had the burgers and thought they were great. I had the crab cakes and they were good — the tartar sauce was either homemade or unique; it was tasty. My date had the crab risotto and it was awesome. Our only complaint was the homemade Caesar salad dressing — it wasn’t to our liking; it didn’t have a lot of anchovy base. If you like that then great. The place it pretty inside and usually includes a band. We will definitely be back for dinner — so should you.

The chicken Parmesan was totally burnt. My husband does not like to return food so he did not return or eat it. We thought the food might look like the pictures on here but not at all.

As far as late night goes, it’s an older crowd… But way less crowded than the WB or P. Awesome place to see some live music… Not get bumped into every three seconds, and hang with your parents haha.

Over priced and terrible service. Stay away! Waited 45 minutes for eggs during brunch with the place empty. Then my food order was wrong. The Bloody Mary’s are highway robbery at $ 14.00 for a marginal drink. I would rather eat pizza off the ground than go back to this place

Just dined here for the first time, menu is fairly diverse with seafood to burgers. Portions were generous and the service was very good. The crab cakes were excellent and the seafood Mac and cheese was very tasty. They also offer a very extensive gluten free menu, very nice for those with celiac disease. The gluten free seafood Mac and chesse was great, they used spaghetti instead of a penne noodle but it was still great…

I would give zero stars for service. We wanted lunch they originally said we had to wait 20 mins. We did then they said it would be another 30. We waited. While another table got lunch! Then we had to wait at least another 10 or so to get help. All the while they were very slow with bringing drinks. Our waitress never brought half of our food orders. when we did get our food, i asked the person who brought it for some ketchup he rudely replied that«he was busy ask someone else» I have never been treated so rudely! When we needed napkins we had to just take leftovers off empty tables in the restaurant. we were there for over 3 hours for a very average brunch/lunch with very overpriced drinks. I would not recommend and would not go back. granted we went on a Saturday at brunch but it really was not that crowded so there is no excuse.

My husband and I were in search of fresh seafood for dinner to celebrating our anniversary while on vacation. We stumbled across the Rock n’ Chair, and despite the questionable 3-star Unilocal review, we decided to dine in. We were so glad we did! The shrimp cocktail was fresh and delicious, but a little pricey, as it was $ 15 and came with 4(jumbo) shrimp, the crusty rolls and whipped butter were tasty, the Don Julio margaritas were refreshing and reasonably priced($ 7.50 each). For our entrees, I enjoyed the sesame crusted Ahi tuna, seared rare, with a house salad. The portion of Ahi was much bigger than I was expecting, however, I managed to finish it all because of how fresh and perfectly prepared it was. My husband ordered and enjoyed the Fluke, which was equally as delicious as my plate, but instead of the salad, he chose the lobster bisque and shared some of it with me so I could experience the most legendary of all bisques. Chunks of lobster and the creamy flavor of each spoonful made this a soup to remember. Our server, Mary Beth, was friendly and attentive, and our meal couldn’t have been any better! I would highly recommend the Rock n’ Chair to anyone who is looking for a fantastic seafood meal and refreshing adult beverages in an upscale, relaxing environment. Enjoy!

This is a review of drinks and service only, I did not order any food. I stopped here late in the afternoon with one of my friends to enjoy a. quick drink or 2 and relax a little since it was vacation. we both had 2 Martinis, and they were all very good. We tried the espresso one. Key lime pie one, and some type. of raspberry one. They were all on the drink menu. I personally wish restaurants would put prices on their drink menus, but either way I still would have ordered my particular drink.(By the way– $ 12 each for the martinis). I am not upset by this price because realistically, that will be your standard martini price in a vacation spot if not more. The drinks were delicious(best key lime pie martini I have had and loved that it had no dairy! But a graham cracker rim would have been nice to top it off…) The service was rather poor. Only a few peo ppl email were sitting at the bar while we were there and it still took quite some time for us to get our drinks(both rounds) and the check. I was in no rush by any means but I still expected quicker service based on how many people were in the restaurant. I would go back here again.

Why would they take she crab soup off the menu? It was the only reason I went there to begin with. They replaced it with lobster bisque, totally run of the mill and WAy too creamy. Went with my family the other day and although it’s off season I still think they need more than just one employee playing the part of bartender/server/hostess/busboy. The man is either greedy or stupid… but anyhow, I had to get my own water because the sole employee was taking another tables order. Food wasn’t horrible, but that she-crab soup was the best I’ve ever had and I’ll miss it:-(. All in all, it wouldn’t be my go to place to eat even in the off season because it’s too over priced and they are seriously understaffed.

Half decent food. Way overpriced. Bill came to $ 100 for 2. Quiet on a Saturday dinner time in late August. That should’ve been a sign…

Part of the ‘regular round’ of bar-crawling in Avalon during the summer. But its quieter, more subdued; less crowded, and more mature than the madness and chaos of ‘The Princeton’. Mature in a good way. Its outfitted like a diner; you know – ‘family restaurant style’ with checkered tablecloths and curlicue wood furniture. I can’t recall ever having eaten here; but I’m sure its fine. More often, its simply where I shuffle in late at night after hours of Avalon clubbing insanity down the street. Seriously. it doesn’t matter how good a shot one has at picking up chicks at ‘The P’ or at the Whitebrier. there’s only so much stupidity and douchebags I can stand. At the Rockin Chair –saunterin in here marks a return to the polite, well-behaved world. Its a normal bar. Adults. People talking quietly among themselves; occasional laughter and high-fives. Guys telling stories; people who actually went out earlier and did something like fishing(rather than just laying on the sand). You can always get a seat(with a cushion); you can sit and chat with someone without shouting; you can get a beer other than Bud/Coors; you can drink out of a glass instead of a cup; and you won’t get into a fight with some drunken numbskull. Most powerful argument for relaxing here: the Rockin Chair always has a live band playing classic rock; classic rock, and only classic rock. The music at the Princeton – let me be the first to say it – is shit. Its shit music for dingbats trapped in iTunes, top-40, hiphop tastes. No amount of tanned skin in denim cut-offs will induce me to stay more than two hours in that nightmare. Detractors and scoffers like to style ‘Rockin Chair’ as a slow, lugubrious, somnolent, scene fit only for retirees, caretakers, and homeowners. Not so. Sure an older crowd comes here; but that’s just the ‘tail’ of the bell curve. Its more simply appropriate for 30-somethings; late 20s; or(to be blunt) anyone who has some substance and individuality. It forms one of the few alternatives to the 21 – 25 yr old scene. Its mellow like someone’s rec room. You can chill out here with a nice mixed-drink and trade meaningful glances across the room with someone – impossible elsewhere. Frankly, I’d prefer to pick up one of the soccer moms here than a sorority girl spitting up on herself in the parking lot of ‘the P’. You need communication skills to ‘work the room’ at Rocking Chair. And he rewards are better.

Went with a group of 10 for brunch. Nothing fancy and not as many choices as a diner breakfast, but everything was delicious. Bloody Mary specials for $ 4. But they had a live DJ, playing more dance/fast music than Sunday brunch music. We were there for a birthday, so it wasn’t bad for us, but I could imagine that would bother other people and deter them from coming in. Also, there is a ramp on the right side of the building, so it is wheelchair accessible.

Stay away!!! This place should lose their license. They have no right to serve food. Why so angry you ask? Hmm… was it the dirty glasses, No. Was it the waitress who never returned, Not it. Was it the stale bread, that never killed anybody. Was it the tomato sauce from a can, Nope. Was it the scallops they cut in half to make it look like there were enough to fill an order, Not even. Was it the raw mussels they served you, YES!
