Great bar to hang out with friends. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bartender has a heavy hand with the alcohol. The local bands play here on weekend. The jukebox needs to be updated though. Most of the songs are at least 2 years old. There is s place to place darts if you like. And more than enough space to dance.

Me and my husband come to Catalina 5 – 6 times a year to fish and this bar is OURFAVORITEBARONTHEISLAND. Bobby(the bartender) is awesome and makes the best drinks and has lots of stories about the island. We love listening to his stories and showing him pictures of the fish we catch. He even gave my husband a free beer mug on his 30th birthday! We watch baseball games, play pool and listen to some awesome music as we sip on delicious drinks… doesn’t get better than this place after a long day of fishing. Thanks Bobby, we’ll see you this summer :)

Bad bartender is definitely the theme to this place. However, he might have been the owner since he was griping about him losing $ 7 on Guinness in a can after I tasted salt in the mug. To solidified my claim, my gf took a snip and agreed the drink had salt in it. The owner or who ever he was must have had his panty’s all bunched up that day because he took offense at us inquiring about UFC being played that evening, even after I was lightening up the mood with the other customers and him. This business saved us from spending any more of our hard earned cash at this establishment. Guarantee downer place for the night. Thanks Negative Ned for leaving a bad taste in our mouth. Blah!

Worst customer service experience imaginable! Bartender was beyond rude. Bar atmosphere was uninvititing. Glasses were dirty with salt residue left from prior drinks, when the bartender was notified he practically said«suck it up». He offered bf new glass & said to pour the salt flavor beer into the new glass. Really? I was in shock! No service –how this place has a good rating is mystifying to me. ABSOLUTELY would never recommend this place and will never be back. Very disappointed! !

Straight bar with a Gay Bar name. We’re regulars. Beware: Some bartenders may short change you, some pour well when you ask for call and you’ll get charged for call. They get angry when you catch them. This is quite common at the Locker Room. Used to be rundown and a bad, seedy crowd. All that seems to be gone now. Cleaner, remodeled, lot’s of HDTV’s, most sports, nice locals and visitors. Latest owners have put some money and love into the place and it shows. They need to rid the place of the old bartenders and modernize the staff like the Marlin Club has done.

Just like Cheers– a place where everybody knows your name. We were tourists, but the bartenders cared enough to say hello, introduce themselves, and ask our names. TVs are great quality and the place is really clean. I was surprised to find what I expected to be a basic bar so nice and comfortable. Definitely Catalina style classiness.

I’d like to give it more stars; but we were only there less than an hour. Great spot for darts and pool. But be forewarned: they kick you out at 2. Even if your on the last ball of your game. Like they come by and pick up the ball and walk. I get that you’re closing… but the last ball? Really? We didn’t see the police as they said there would be; ready to cite the bar. :( Oh well. Maybe next time. We’ll see.

My fiancé and I love this place. It’s a classic bar with TVs, pool, darts, and other bar games. I’m not the biggest PBR fan, but we always get a schooner of it at The Locker Room. The beer is so cold and the schooners so chilled… the beer actually freezes on the outside of the glass and crystallizes at the surface. So good on a sunny summer day in Avalon. Even better if there’s a Dodger game on.

Watched the Packers vs. Seahawks game here. Very nice audio-video setup. And really friendly staff. Definitely coming back.

Came here to watch the baseball game. Gorgeous array of flat screens made this sports bar the logical choice! Drank PBRs on tap, they don’t serve food but allow you to bring food in. Fine by us, we can get takeout from wherever we feel like and come here to watch the game with likeminded sports fans. We’ll likely be here again before the week is out.

We watched the Dodgers game here and was very surprised to see TONS of flat screen TVs. The beer was cheap and they had Lost Coast on tap. The bartender was great and he commanded all the service in the place. It was quite impressive. We loved the fact that is was the local dive. We rubbed elbows next to construction workers, service industry folks, fisherman, and old residents. We will visit again. This place is what the Marlin Club wishes to be.

Sketchy clientele– the late crowd of locals is not friendly to out of towners. I wouldn’t have been comfortable there with just my girl and no friends. Pool tables have MDF instead of slate. Light pour, pricy drink. But it’s one of 2 or 3 bars open past 9 so take what you can get… Maybe it’s better while the sun is up.

This was probably my favorite bar on my first trip to Catalina. I think we checked them all out and I ended up coming back here. I watched the Kings Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final here. To my surprise, the whole bar was made up of Kings fans(or at least people cheering for them). That made it extra cool. So cool that I had to buy a T-shirt for the great memory as the game was as exciting as a sporting event can be. It always makes it more fun to watch with people who are equally interested. The bartender(Jim?) was cool. He maybe makes drinks a little too stiff but who really complains about that? You just have to pace yourself when he is at the helm. Overall, this bar is relatively clean. There are giant flat screen TV’s every few feet so it is a great place to watch sports. The place is spread out and is roomy so you should feel too claustrophobic in there. They also had a pool table and a live band later in the night. All in all, I’d say this or the Marlin Club are the two best bars in Catalina.

I would have given them five stars if they had a person waiting tables. Decent place with lots of Hi Def TV’s and good drinks. Bartenders were good and since they didn’t serve food they didn’t mind that we brought a pizza in from Antonio’s down the street. If I had one complaint it would be the lack of a person waiting tables. Every time you wanted a drink you would have to go to the bar and get it. They could easily bring in double the revenue on a busy day with a waiter/waitress. All in all great place and would definitely hit it again when in Avalon.

Before coming to Catalina for a weekend, I searched sports bars and came up with nothing on Unilocal. To our surprise we found this gem when we got there! They have 10 giants TVs and the bar is very nice inside! They have sports memorabilia all over the walls. We were able to watch our college football game and have some beers. Its a cool spot to watch some sports, and its just a short distance from the beach/boardwalk!
