This place is for locals and Antonio(tony) the owner is one great guy! He knows how to treat people and make you feel at home… So, for us, this is what it is, home… He and his staff always try to please and serve what you want and how you want it. So high five there… He also invents plates and combines flavors to give you different experiences many times. I usually come for the traditional arepa, but have also had the asado negro which is also very good… I also had his risotto which is quite good but not exactly my taste! For service, I have told him that this area can be improved a notch. I will continue coming with the family… Please don’t expect a fancy restaurant with fancy décor… This is more of a homey joint with a great heart and a family atmosphere… Enjoy

The food is amazing! I had the andino plate and my husband had an arepa and everything was so delicious. Our server was very friendly. The indoor area is small but we sat on the patio and it was very comfortable. We will definitely go back soon!

Amazing little place, recommended by a great friend. I had an arepa with chicken, gouda and avocado. Service is great — food amazing. These are the best kept secrets for quick, comfort food. The chef is super nice — he asked if everything was to our standards. The juices are great, clean, happy staff. If you are ever in Aventura, stop by and give it a try. Expensive and fancy does not mean its good. I’ve found these kind of restaurants all over the US and have always left happy. My complements to the chef!

The food is great! We came in for lunch. The place was busy. One cook, one server. That handle it like champs. Had to wait a bit for our food but it was with it. We will definitely come back for 1 or 10 Arepas!!!

Great arepas, risottos and the best skirt steak in town! Ántonio is a talented guy and puts a lot of time to make great food using fresh ingredients and made from scratch. I had a breakfast and then dinner the same day, that’s how great it was.

I love this place. The food is truly venezuelan and delicious. The arepas and tequeños are amazing. I don’t give 5 stars because service can be slow

Being Venezuelan, I was really excited to try this place. I had seen the chef on instagram post all of his pictures that I really had high expectations. I must tell you what ruined the experience for me was the service. The lady who waited on my party was in a really bad mood and taking it out on us. She was frustrated that we weren’t ready to order when she came to ask us and the restaurant wasn’t even packed. I didn’t understand her rush. Other than that, we had an order of arepitas dulces which were AMAZING! ThenI had an arepa with cheese and plantains but what they post on Instagram and what you get at the restaurant are two different things. I was looking forward to this very generous arepa and got one that I would get any where else. We also had a cachapa which tasted alright. I drove 45 minutes to eat here and don’t think I would do it again. Maybe if they would have been nicer I would try, but from my experience, I felt rushed just being there.

I really wanted to like this place because lately I have been searching for Venezuelan food wherever I am in Miami. I did a quick search and read some reviews and quickly got excited about Avila Bistro. Unfortunately my experience was mediocre. I came in for a semi-quick breakfast with about an hour to spare and it’s a good thing because if not I would’ve left hungry if I was in a hurry. It took over an 45 minutes to get my meal El Caraqueño. Which ended up with a cold pabellon, hard avocado and a burnt smelling arepa which is a huge turn off when eating an arepa. There was one chef and one waitress while I was there with about four other people that had ordered prior to arriving and sitting down. The«natural» juices were a joke and WAY overpriced at $ 4.(See machine it comes out of in pictures) I ordered a papelon to play it safe to give it a chance and that was a mistake for such a simple recipe something was off in the taste. Like I said from the get go I wanted to like this place but it just wasn’t all there. The part that started it all off was the tequeños; a very typical appetizer were bland with little flavor. Maybe it is the cheese they use or something in the dough. Personally I will stick to Doggi’s in Coral Gables and Pana Express for Tequeños.

Overrated restaurant, very expensive for what you get… The only great thing I ate there were the tequeños. Arepa con carne mechada was pretty OK. Won’t be coming back soon

The cachapa was delicious. The service was a bit slow but the food was very good. I would come back to this restaurant.

I had an arepa for the first time with beef, egg, cheese and avacado and one with grilled cheese, arugula lettuce and tomato it was good but it had a lot of cheese. Next time I’ll ask for less cheese and a little more beef.

Excellent little bistro! Extensive menu with almost 2 pages of arepa choices. My wife had the risotto, which was great, and I tried the pabellón, which also was great. Really good looking chicha but didn’t try it this time. Next time for sure, because we will be back!

Tried the Reina Pepeada Arepa and the Cachapa with Pernil. Both were quite good, the arepa was nice and crispy and the cachapa was flavorful and HUGE. The only downside on the cachapa was the pernil was on the salty side and we made the drive specifically for this dish. Our whole party of 6 commented the same thing. I would still order it again though, perhaps they went a little heavy on the salt on this particular day. I’m not a big connoisseur of Venezuelan cuisine, but this place hit the spot for my preggo cravings.

WOW!!! I got the shredded beef arepa and this is hands down some of the best food I’ve had in my entire life! The waiter was very friendly and speaks broken English, but made me feel welcome none the less. The beef is cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Even the coffee with foamed milk was good. I will be back!

ESPECTACULAR!!! The best arepas, the best chicha, the best tequeños, the BESTCHEF… Everytime we go, I cant decide which arepa or cachapa should I eat because I go into a panik attack as they all look and taste so amazing. As a native Venezuelan, and after trying so many venezuelan places, definitely Avila Bistro is by far the best.

Just amazing Venezuelan food. Long time coming for a place like this in aventura where the food scene is as sad as they come. Don’t expect anything fancy. The restaurant sits on the corner of a strip center but the food and the service was great. Will definitely be coming back for this one!

Very slow and bad service. Pricy and very disappointed with the food. We were 8 people and no one was happy Extremely salty the pork, carne mechada and the queso blanco. And begging for a glass of water was not fun. To many good arepas places no need to drive so far … Tequenos were good

I have the same conclusion about Avila as I had in my recent review of Little Bread(a sandwich shop reinventing classic sandwiches in Little Havana), which is: if you are a fan of arepas, this place is probably for you. But I’m new to arepas, and judging purely on the quality of the product and its cost versus other local(non-arepa) options, I have to say«good, not great.» The shredded beef and Gouda that I bought and photographed was $ 8, so if you sit down with it(the place is not really geared toward take-out), and add a tip it’s going to be a pretty expensive $ 10 lunch. The same $ 8 base price will get you a burrito with very similar high-quality ingredients(braised beef, shredded pork, etc), but twice the size, and enough left over to buy a drink with. Rent is not cheap in Aventura, but to make it, I think Avila will need to review its pricing, and maybe consider a take-out window. If you are an arepa fanatic, go. If not, maybe not. Interesting list of risottos on the menu I posted too, but again, it’s high end pricing for such a casual setting.

So many good things I read about this place, and been so close to home we had to try it. We were there for lunch but still were looking forward to having breakfast(been this a Venezuelan inspired menu) the first thing we noticed though was that the menu states that they do not serve either breakfast or arenas after 11:30pm so we were kind of disaapointed until we overheard a table ordering these items and went ahead and did the same.(Confusing they do have these available by order but not in the menu) We tried both the Avila and Caraqueño breakfast combos. They were both good sizes and were presented nicely, though the shredded beef was a bit bland and the arepa was a bit undercooked inside, at the end the food was ok. The service was really slow, they only had one server at lunch time for the whole place which was not enough. He tried to be nice but would not refill our waters and we never got the chance to offer more coffee, apart from the long wait for our food.

Excelente comida la atención muy buena y los precios muy acordes a la calidad de la comida. Los tequeños espectaculares las arepas al mejor estilo de las areperas caraqueñas. Me encanta la variedad del menú. Altamente recomendable visita obligada
