Dinner ordered salmon. Terrible presentation salmon with a ton of lentils that was it! Salmon good but what’s with the presentation and whatever else it was to have. Disappointed

Came here for a Valentine’s day brunch. Incredible! We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was incredibly sweet and nice, and very hardworking. Just an awesome experience all around. The restaurant itself is so incredibly cute and perfectly decorated. The food was to absolutely die for. And the bellini drink was delicious. I didn’t want to leave. Will definitely try to get back here as soon as possible.

The food here is just good. They served the best gluten-free bread I’ve ever had! It tasted slightly sweet and almost cake-like! They also provided awesome roasted garlic, and sun-dried tomato side dishes. The sautéed calamari appetizer was cooked perfectly… neither under or over-cooked. I ordered Max’s chopped salad, which was extremely fresh. Hubby ordered Max’s gf chicken pasta, which was very tasty. Our server, Annalisa, was very attentive! We left satisfied and will definitely be returning.

They have to get rid of that young brunette bartender. The rudest bartender everrr. I will not return until they do or she leaves. I have been going there for years and love the food and drinks including prices. But my God what a roten personality she has. GODSUPERRUDE!!! I have one drink and leave when she is working. Now I will just leave if she is there. I have 10,000 clients that I will share this review with. She spends the whole time I’m there boozing It up. Maybe thats her issue. But really I’m done!

A fantastic spot for the area. We came in with another couple for a nice dinner and were very happy with the whole night. We were greeted right away by a friendly server and shown to our table. From that point on our waitress was very attentive and helpful in making food and drink selections. The restaurant itself is rather large and has a nice ambiance overall. The food was all fantastic. We started with a few different appetizers and strongly recommend the calamari. Nicely done and not over fried. Our main courses were all nicely cooked and flavored. Strongly recommended if you’re looking for a nice restaurant for a good night out.

Lunch at 12:30pm on Tuesday. Wife orders Max’s Bolognese, I order the small fried calamari. Diet coke and water respectively. Not many patrons sitting at the tables but the bar stools were filled. TV’s blasting ESPN was a bit distracting. That kind of spoiled the nice itailan ambiance. Oh well, I didn’t realize we were sitted on the bar side of the establishment. My bad. Now the food… Foccia bread with evoo was served to wet our appetites. It did. That bread was delish! Nicely topped with italian herbs/spices and dipped in the olive oil. Yummy. Meals came out pretty quick. My calamari was spot on. Lightly breaded with just the right amount of marinaria. Hot peppers mixed in was just the ticket to spice things up. My wife’s Rigatoni Bolognese was well presented and was served nice and hot. It was good to see a few larger chunks of meat mixed in with the ground meat. The sauce and the al dente rigatoni pasta tasted delish. Portions sizes for both plates were just right for lunch but, the price for the pasta dish was a bit steep. Bottom line is I am glad we ate here. We won’t go often because of the higher prices but… you do pretty much get what you pay for. Nice atmosphere, good service. A Max’s restaurant in Avon, CT kind of place it is for sure. Enjoy, if you check it out for youself.

The best Italian food I have had in a very long time! Great atmosphere and food! Service was a little slow… but worth the wait!

I am not a fan of the Max restaurants but I had a great time at Max a Mia… Sat outside, enjoyed a couple Corona’s, had a delicious Cobb salad and will go back. For a more in depth meal, I would’ve normally waited to write this after a couple times I went but I was very happy with my first experience and the decent prices warranted this review.

After waiting a couple weeks to try this place out, the anticipation had built to an all time high. So, on a Friday night my darling love of a guy made reservations for 530. Parking was tough as usual but we eventually found a space. Upon walking in, we noticed that the bar area was PACKED and the dining room off to the right was a bit busy. I should have guessed something would be off right from the start when the host immediately apologized for the crowd in the bar area that we would have to «weave around.» After squeezing into a booth directly across from the bar(squeeze is the word when you account for the large party standing right in front of our booth), we sat down and started perusing the menu. Then we noticed quickly, we couldnt carry on a conversation without screaming. Like, at all. We were promised by our server that the large party gathering in the back right by our booth would be leaving to take their seats momentarily and so that is the reason we didn’t ask to be re-seated. Everything was good. Food was delicious — I got the Chicken Parm and my boyfriend got the Bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The bread was delicious and piping hot. I didn’t try the garlic(talk about bad breath for days) but the Spicy Tomato Aioli was pretty stellar. They served it with olives as well but they just aren’t my thing. I took two bites of my food and asked for the rest to be boxed up. I was so frustrated because we couldn’t talk to each other at all and my head was starting to throb. No booths were taken behind us and there was ample seating in the dining room for us to sit. So, why seat us in a disaster of an area? Our server had to push past hoards of people with our food and drinks on every visit he made to the table. Our server was pretty good, did his job and so for that and the food it was a 3 star visit. I can’t say if we will be back again. The hype of the Max’s chain seems to be fair and just if you base it purely on the food however, a bit pretentious and overrated if you consider the droves of executives specifically there for happy hour — half of them in the bar area, half of them shouting from the dining side over into the bar area. I would visit Amici’s down the road over and over before I stepped foot into this place again. Quiet, intimate and the food is amazing. I think Amici spanks this place. Food is a solid 3 ½. But minus 2 stars for going almost-deaf. Leaving the restaurant and being able to talk to my swell guy after dinner on the way home was my favorite part of the evening.

Went to Max a Mia for the first time in June and had SUCH an amazing meal. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. A lovely, friendly and attentive server. She was a doll. Our first lunch visit was A+++! We couldn’t believe we’ve never stopped by before! This is the first Max Group restaurant we’ve been to. We were told by our lovely server that if we emailed the chef about our delicious tomato soup that we *might* be able to get the recipe since it was a seasonal special and isn’t always available. I emailed about our great first visit and the ask about the recipe and sadly, I didn’t get a response at all! I wouldn’t have minded if they said, «We can’t give it to you but thanks so much for writing.» Oh well… Still love this place so much we have been back at least 4 or 5 times in the last two months. FOOD: Some of our favorite dishes: Whipped ricotta, salmon, eggplant lasagna, tomato soup, stone pies SERVICE: Lovely. Prompt even when busy. I have felt a bit rushed at times but I think that is because servers sometimes try to rush lunch orders for you because they assume you need to be back to the office. The lunch time hostess is a bit cold she could smile some more and be glad to see you. ATMOSPHERE: Love the outdoor patio but it’s been too hot lately for it. The dining room is small and the A/C is kind of weak(maybe it’s the pizza oven?) The layout of some of the dining tables make me feel I’m sharing a table with strangers too. I prefer to sit in the bar area if I have a choice. Star Breakdown: Food 5 /Service 4.5 /Atmosphere 4 If they had emailed me back it may have bumped it to a 5 star overall. Just saying’…
