Outstanding service. Had the pasta and sausage. Wow. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great happy hour drink and food specials. I’ve had almost everything on the menu, pasta dishes are excellent. Had leg of lamb with mushroom risotto which was a special and it was delicious.

Stumbled in here after playing some golf at Blue Fox. Nice place — went back again for drinks with friends. Long story short, the food is terrific; the staff is attentive and the owner is very nice. I’ll say that I’ve only had apps, but I was so impressed that I’m going back for dinner. The place is relatively new so anyone with a past bad experience may have gone there before the they worked out its kinks(I’m not a fan boy or an employee… I’m just saying). I know when I’m out in that neck of the woods, the places I would visit are Millwrights for high-end cuisine, Little City for the super margarita pizza and Nicci G’s for some solid Italian food, good drinks and the outdoor seating.(I saw a review that mentioned their amazing great happy hour pricing — yeah, it’s like they’re just giving it away. Best time to go.)

Thru the main course, I was ready to give this place five stars. We went during restaurant week and food was excellent. Shrimp fritters, a very good French onion soup and a delicious meatball for apps were hits. And we loved the main courses with a bolognese sauce or chicken parm. And the steak & cheese sandwich was a big hit. And then the wheels came off. We were supposed to get dessert. It’s cannolis and gelato. Which presumably are premade. Yet somehow it took over 30 minutes to get them. Yes the kitchen was«busy» said the hostess but this is dessert. Still not sure why it would take so long and the explanations and excuses didn’t fit. Which I just don’t get. Because again, I really liked this place overall. The décor was great and it had terrific kids meals too. The mac n cheese for the kids was a steal at $ 6. They had a great crowd for a Sunday night too. Overall, we will be back but they need to step up the game on service. Great food can be overshadowed by mediocre service. May you get great service AND the great food on your next visit. PS to owners. — It’s a tough location and you can’t afford missteps on dessert or service. And your chef deserves better because the food was really very good.

Food and service was great! We had the flat bread special along with the roast beef sliders; simply delicious. Also enjoyed some seasonal Pumpkin Ale. This will be one of my new favorites places! Beautiful bar and outdoor dining too!

Absolutely disappointing! Had a reservation for 6:45 Saturday night with friends looking for a nice night out. Got there & place was packed(noticed they had a Taste of Suburbs special going on). Mistake#1 — Should have known when hostess said«we’re a bit backlogged & seating the 6:30 party soon, would you like to wait at the bar?». Went to bar which was crowded & luckily found a table, but no servers so had to go to bar to get drinks… Mistake #2 — waited until 7:15 before hostess came & offered to seat us outside(as it was nice out we decided to try the patio). Mistake #3 — server came quick with menu’s/taste menu & as we hadn’t seen menu’s asked for a few minutes. about 20 mins later she came back. 7:35 finally placed order(apps/entrees) Mistake #4 — at 8:05, my wife was getting antsy(understood) so said«let me go check» — went inside & server said«I just got paged for your apps» Solution #1 — at 8:15, we went back in & told server«sorry — we’ve been here for 1 ½ hours & haven’t gotten anything to eat, you clearly are too busy so we need to leave». She said«oh.the apps are coming up now…» but we went to da Capo & were eating by 8:40.

Some of the best Italian cuisine I’ve had in the area since I’ve moved here a few months ago from jersey. We went for a late Friday night dinner and got a seat immediately. Choice of outdoor patio or indoor dining room was available upon request. For an appetizer, I tried their version of the caprese salad which featured extremely fresh and crisp tomatoes, decadent and creamy burrata, and fresh chopped basil with drizzles of olive oil and balsamic. This was outstanding and quite possibly the best caprese I’ve ever had. It’s a brilliant and refreshing start to any spring or summer meal. For my entrée, I got the Parma which is a floured and lightly fried eggplant rolled with an expertly seasoned ricotta atop a generous portion of capellini in red sauce. There’s some serious flavor within that eggplant which is complimented by the cool finish of the ricotta. Highly recommended for anyone who likes eggplant even just a little bit. I also got the chance to try the Tuscany which was a delicious penne in bolognese which was made with veal, pork and beef. This was also very, very good. The sauce and ricotta mixture has this small pop in flavor which was mildly tart which added immensely to the dish. My only negative take-away was that I felt our server could’ve used a bit more knowledge about the menu as I had a lot of questions about cooking style, ingredients, etc. Other than that, we had a great time and will undoubtedly return soon!

Scallop carbonara was outstanding! Service very good. My only suggestion would be grating cheese table side not having a bowl of grated Parmesan. Prices great for the quality.

If you are in the Avon area, this is the place to come for dinner or drinks. They have only been open two months, but all the staff are seasoned professionals. If you can find the staircase to the second floor in the corner, the rooftop dining is fantastic. The only better seating is at the bar, and that is because you get dinner-and-a-show. The owner is the same as the one that owned The Grist Mill, which had great food. The bar/wait staff are mostly seasoned professionals. This is one of the few places that I have found that has a solid beer AND wine menu. I am partial to IPAs, and the Two Roads is very good. The owner is Italian, and most of the Italian Reds are a deal. I have not had the house pomegranate martini, but I watched six of them being made and I approve of the recipe 100%. My critique of most New England bars is that you have to come 4 or 5 times before the staff warms up to you. This crew is friendly in the first 5 minutes!

Excellent food and adult beverages, atmosphere, outdoor dining, very reasonable prices and the service was fantastic. What a wonderful breath of fresh air in this area. If you’re tired of being an under appreciated client, try Nicci G’s…they have been in the industry for over 20 years and know how to do it right!

This was my first visit since the remodel of Nicci G’s from the Grist Mill. The place looks great but the service was absolutely awful. The food was not bad but I had to send mine back as it was cold and waited 20 minutes for it to return. My friend was finsihed with his dinner and was ready to leave. All in all I was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was not even that busy. Not sure I will return

What Italian restaurant doesn’t have Tiramisu? The same one that took 40 minutes from the time I was done eating to the time they brought my check. It was a nice spot to dine solo while waiting for Hartford traffic to disapate before heading home, but if I’m ever in the area again I will definitely go somewhere else. The Cubetti salad was dry and was mostly all romaine, very few of the other ingredients were added in. The rotini melanza is mostly whipped cheese with fried batter. The atmosphere was pleasant though! It was just kind of an odd experience; I expected better food and service to match the atmosphere.

Out door dining over looking Hubeline Tower. Very Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Outdoor seats about 60 so its spacious and airy. located on the second floor above the shops w a cobblestone floor and overhead tent like covering. very Euro feel to it. Had lunch with a choice of unique and affordable Garden Greens Small Plates, Sandwich, or Main Dishes. added a Blue Moon at an affordable price. Food was fresh and healthy. and delicious. The tunes playing were great. a little frank and dean. and acoustic artists from today’s charts.

This is the old Grist Mill Restaurant after a major make-over. A very successful make-over. The Grist Mill was fine, but in an old school tired comfortable way, I mean you could imagine the cast of Mad Men eating a steak dinner there. The new look signifies a big investment and the new name signifies more than a new name, its a whole new attitude. This place is beautiful. The old booths are gone from the bar, replaced by many wood high-top tables for four. The space looks so much bigger and, yes, better. The dining room make-over is equally dazzling. It is beautiful. We enjoyed their very sweet Happy Hour(M-F 3 – 6) yesterday, half price«Small Plates» and $ 4 drafts. We both had a Curious Traveler Summer Shandy and it was excellent. Two of the Small Plates are not eligible for the Happy Hour price slash — their highest priced choice(a meat and cheese antipasto for $ 16), and their lowest priced choice(soup at $ 5-$ 7). We ordered two of the half price Small Plates, Prince Edward Island Mussels in white wine broth with toasted garlic bread($ 11 slashed to $ 5.50) and Baked Penne Bolognese topped with melted provolone & parmesan cheese($ 8 slashed to $ 4). We also ordered the full cost Antipasto di Bari($ 16) for a good sized platter of Provolone, ricotta, house-made mozzarella, salami, prosciutto, Speck Alto Adige, grilled vegetables, mushrooms, cherry peppers, and flatbread wedges. The food was consistently excellent. I love mussels and my $ 5.50 plate was a great value for an immense bowl, a tasty broth, and three big toasted bread croutons. The antipasto platter was worth the cost, the cheeses were excellent and I liked the zip in the cherry peppers. Three beers and three Small Plates ran us under $ 40 — a very good value for a fun meal in a beautiful location. And speaking of fun, I have to mention our server Stephanie. She was as outgoing and pleasant as we have seen in a while. She definitely made an enjoyable meal even better. And one more thing, there was a guy at the bar who wore sneakers and looked a lot like Governor Malloy! He didn’t sound like him, but I chuckled every time I looked at him.

This place is awesome! They just had their soft opening last week, same owners as the grist mill, with the grand opening coming soon. They redid their menu and remodeled the inside, it looks wayyyyyy better. It Def looked dated before, now it’s stylish with hardwood floors, fresh paint and new light fixtures. The bar looks amazing too, finished copper top I believe they were saying. Anyway, on to the food! Modern italian dishes, to die for! We ended up getting too much, bc we wanted to try it all, but the leftovers were great the next day! Antipasto, calamari, and meatballs were our first course. Antipasti came out loaded on a beautiful wood plank(sandwiches come this way too we were told), calamari was cooked well and crispy with a spicy dipping sauce and marinara, and the meatballs… DAMNTHESEWEREGOOD! 3 huge meatballs, super moist, with a crispy piece of bread spread with ricotta(which I did not share, lol). Entrees were salmon and braised short ribs. Omg… I don’t eat a lot of red meat, but the short ribs my bf ordered were to die for. Braised in coffee and kahlua, which Def came thru in the taste! Sarah(our bartender) said we wouldn’t need a knife, and she was right! Polenta fries and brussel sprout hash were wonderful as well!(I kept getting smacked for stealing his fries!) My salmon was perfectly cooked with a sweet gooey pomegranate glaze, creamy goat cheese risotto, and radicchio slaw. We were such happy fat kids with all of this! Plus Sarah and Jameson(how could you not love a bartender named Jamo!) were excellent! They told us stories about how the restaurant got its name(grandma’s name was Niccolina), and how the owner had alot of these dishes on his grandmother’s table as a kid, and how she owned a restaurant in NY in the 1900s! They even have a huge picture of Mulberry st, NY in 1904, which was where her restaurant was! Sarah talked about their reworked wine list, and Jamo made me their house Cosmo with Grand Marinier! Please go try it, it’s come leaps and bounds from what it was, and the staff is 1000x better! They kept the few good ones they had, and brought in ones that actually smile and know the menu! Lol Lol I keep getting messages asking if I work here bc of how long my review is. I dont, I’m just a foodie, and I’ve worked in restaurants all my life, just not working at this one.
