Good Taste

Been trying to find a good Chinese place since moving to Babylon and I finally did. This place has great food and delivers quickly! Definitely the best Chinese food I have had in a while.

Please note that the 4 stars is what I would give this establishment based on other experiences with take-​out Chinese. It is not a 4-​star Chinese restaurant, if you get what I’m sayin’.
We got the General Tso’s chicken, vegetable fried rice, sesame chicken, and steamed vegetable dumplings.
The General Tso’s and Sesame Chicken dishes tasted pretty standard to every other Americanized Chinese place. The only difference is that the sesame chicken here is pounded down into thin pieces for an even cook (i.e. not the nugget chicken pieces you usually see). 3 stars.
The vegetable fried rice was the biggest surprise to me. It wasn’t overly oily and had a decent variety of vegetables including peas, zucchini, and broccoli. Flavorful without being drowned in oil. 4 stars.
The steamed vegetable dumplings were also tasty. The sauce for dipping is amazing! I could poor that over everything. 4 stars.
It was ready incredibly fast (15 min) and had standard pricing for these types of places. Overall, 3.5 to 4 stars.

Horribly disappointed. My scallion pancake was too greasy, the combo sesame chicken and rice lacked flavor and was soggy. The fortune cookies were stale, and even though I ordered extra fortune cookies, they instead sent almond cookies, which I didn’t want. The egg roll tasted funny, too. I hate paying good money for bad food, but thought this place might be good because it’s in the village. I was wrong. I now have to throw away my food. Save your money, save your stomach — don’t eat here.

I’ve tried alot of local Chinese restaurants and good taste does not disappoint. I tried their teriyaki chicken combo and very much enjoyed it. I have gotten that same dish from many other restaurants and have not been happy. The fried rice, boneless ribs and dumplings all excellent. Usually when I go to the same place a few times, I like to try different dishes. Every dish I’ve tried so far from good taste had me satisfied. Hopefully this restaurant is here to stay, I’ve seen so many change owners.

I ordered delivery from here and the food came really fast. To bad it was horrible. The chicken and broccoli had zero taste even after adding a lot of soy sauce. I would never eat here again

Well for one they are very expensive for chinese food i was reading all the reviews and ppl really gave good reviews im going to tell u like this if u want so salty chinese food this will be a good place for u and if u want ur stomach to hurt for hours well get from here i wouldn’t give this food to a DOG ur choice if u eat here i don’t recommend this place at all

So good! I can only speak on the speedy delivery and small meal I just woofed down like a savage… It took like ten min for me to get my food which was awesome considering I was starving and noshing on trail mix was not cutting it… Got steamed chicken and broccoli, cheese wontons, egg roll… all deliciously tasting. Egg roll crispy and non greasy, fresh tasting inside. White meat chicken was actually good and thick and tender and broccoli was steamed to perfection. Cheese wontons nomnomnom nomnomnom need I say more? Holla at me good taste!

I ordered takeout from here for the first time based on the reviews posted on here. The dumplings were very light, the fried rice was good. The boneless ribs were better than most places. I placed the order online and it took an hour before it was delivered. I found it pricey compared to other local takeout restaurants. They screwed up my order a bit as well missing a soup that comes with the combo dinners. I also ordered Chinese tea bags and they sent 4 Lipton tea bags? That was odd. I’m on the fence if I’d order from there again.

Hands down best Chinese food around… my wife and I will only order from here. My favorite is the sesame chicken and the vegetable dumplings.

Delicious won ton soup, the most homemade delicate won tons in a broth that was excellent! Also enjoyed a heaping dish of chicken chow fun which had crunchy fresh vegetables. Delivery was speedy and order was spot on.

Food was OK — I’ve had better at other places though. Was hoping to find a go to place for Chinese. Portions were large, handy for leftovers!

Babylon has a ton of places to eat. But, if you’re specifically looking for straight-​up take out Chinese, this is a good place to order out from.
In the past, I had only ordered the chicken and rice soup. It’s not overly salty, and perfect on a chillier night to fill you up. I wish they would add a vegetable element like my old take-​out place, but it’s still pretty good.
Recently, I ordered General Tso’s (steamed) with brown rice. The sauce was super tasty, loved it. All that goodness on my chicken and rice, yum-​yum! But they only gave me a measly two pieces of broccoli. Not that I love broccoli, but two small pieces?
What I really love about this place though is the service. The woman who is always there when I pick up is so super nice. Super smiley and delightfully friendly, and that is what will keep me coming back again and again.

Very very good. I had the boneless spare ribs the chicken lo mein and the wonton soup. The delivery was very quick, under 30 minutes. The food was tasty and flavorful and NOT over seasoned like most places. I want to try more from the menu before giving 5 stars but that is the only reason I gave 4 and not 5

New owners took over, the food is horribly bland and salty now. They used to make their own dumplings now the veggie dumplings are loose and the sauce is horribly salty
This used to be such a gem, I who’s the old chef would come back!

Last time I wrote a review for this place I was not happy or satisfied with the food as I thought I would have been. Many people who live in or around this area instructed me to give their food a second try, so I did & now I am overly pleased with how delicious everything was this time around!
I ordered boneless spare-​ribs, General Tso chicken and vegetable fried rice. The rice was phenomenal and the chicken was made with all white meat (something they always do, and most other place charge extra for this) and it was also extremely tender. The ribs weren’t a bit chewy and were cooked to perfection and the FLAVOR, that yummy BBQ taste def came through (it seemed like everything was made with precision & love) :) OHH BTW I FELL IN LOVE W/​THE RED PINT RICE CONTAINER, so so cute!
LASTLY, it’s important to make note that I was one of those late last minute customers, which no one likes at any business, which made me nervous to even order anything. I called to see what time they were open until on a late Saturday evening it must’ve been around 9:50 PM and they closed at 10. I said forget it and they INSISTED TO CALL RIGHT BACK AND THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO TAKE MY ORDER AND DELIVER IT! They were so courteous and sweet, it was a great feeling to have people actually accommodate my pain in the ass and with a smile too! Literally, they did say they were happy to do it. Now that is what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS FINEST AS WELL AS DOING RIGHT BY THEIR SUPPORTING CUSTOMERS :)

The food is great here. And they have a very good tasting vegetarian alternatives as well. The dumplings are sublime, and not too doughy like a lot of the other Chinese takeout places.

Really delicious and different Chinese food, and very friendly service. It is a take-​out restaurant but they do have limited seating. For us, it was very convenient after spending the afternoon at Robert Moses State Park beach, and not being dressed for full service dining. I’d say it’s as good as it gets for its category. The hospitality and care and quality of the food is beyond expected and was a welcome surprise.

OMG. It was by chance I was looking for a late night bite and most places were closed. Calling this place a Chinese take out does not due it justice. It is hands down restaurant quality food. The chef transforms the flavors in these typical dishes to make it his own. If you like spicy chicken you must try there signature dish the «country chicken».
Wife always told me «never order seafood from a take-​out spot», well there seafood is fresh and orders are taken the day before. The chef travels and picks out the seafood fresh.
I can continue to write how good my meals were, but this is something you need to go out and find out yourself. Jennifer works in the counter and trust her recommendations.

So far I’ve had the pleasure of eating food from Good Taste twice.
The first time I experienced good taste was about two weeks to my prior visit. Hubby and I were disappointed in our usual chinese take out because they went through a management change and weren’t so good as they were before. I found the reviews of good taste on Unilocal and we decided to try it.
There seems to be one very pleasant lady behind the counter when you enter the restaurant and I also assume she’s the one to answer the phone when you call in an order. She’s a lovely woman, she engages each customer and explains that the chefs cook their food at good taste in the healthiest way possible. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to her twice once when my mother-​in-​law and I entered the restaurant during a recent Babylon Village sidewalk sale and once on my most recent visit when I suggested the restaurant to two ladies from work after we had spent the day at the outlets.
I sampled quite a bit of their vegetarian fare. The egg drop soup is your classic egg drop soup. The vegetable dumplings are excellent, very moist, the dumpling is green but it’s still very good. The veggie loe mein is also terrific. The vegetarian general tso’s chicken is also very good, my only qualm is there wasn’t much sauce served with my dish and I tend to like my food served with more sauce, it was still great though.
My hubby, my mother-​in-​law and my two work buddies enjoyed everything they ate here too. This is officially our new chinese take out joint and we are so happy to have found it!

Nice General Tso’s and my husband likes the beef lo mein. Actually all the entrees we have tried are good and high quality.
After some inconsistent asian food (thai and chinese places that have since closed) in Bab village over the years we happily have a new local! I am glad I never went before the ownership change.
Jennifer who either owns or works there is really nice to my husband who is on his way to pick up our lunch right now. It would be a 5 star but i don’t like the wonton soup which is bland for my taste with overly delicate wontons but thats just my taste. They have really yummy egg rolls!
