Really good sushi, with a nice selection. Fairly busy, so the staff can take some time even when it’s half full.

This is my go to sushi spot! Everything is always fresh. For appetizers the sautéed oysters, shrimp gogo and the tuna avacado with spicy mayo are amazing! The tuna tataki is seared very well. The Grinch, spicy mayo roll and philadelphia roll are also great. Can not go wrong with desserts either. Most of the servers are attentive and prompt.

Still amazing. I never really took the time to appreciate their ginger dressing, but it’s wonderful. Tried the K-Mac sliders last night. They come with two but they added another on for an extra fee. 3 young ladies shared sushi/sashimi for 1(as usual) and there was still a bit left over. Geyser Sauv Blanc is standard. Service was a bit slow at first but once we ordered everything came out in a timely fashion. Love you Kotobuki.

I’m sorry but all these great reviews are mind-boggling! The food, wait staff and overall experience was just plain bad. The one good part was that we were seated right away(joke bc we were the first ones there on a Sunday night). We started off with grilled squid and edema me for apps. The squid was bland and luke warm. The edema me was freezer burned and had table salt on the top. Never had it without the course salt and it made a huge difference. We shoulda known that if they can mess up edema me, we had no shot at a good entrée. My wife had chirashi and didn’t taste fresh at all and the yellow fin was inedible. I had 3 rolls. An eel avocado roll that was tough and tasted like it was in the frig for a week, a spider roll(soft shell crab) that had way too much fried batter on it and had zero taste, and a spicy girl roll(spicy salmon, yellowfin, avocado in the middle, with spicy tuna on top) I wish I had my phone with me to take a pic because this roll LOOKED disgusting, and TASTED even worse! The spicy tuna was A BROWN shade, the roll was sloppily rolled, everything looked like it was mushed together… it was just plain bad. Oh, and nothing spicy about it! Little fountain sodas were $ 2.50 each, including refills, the wait staff was slowwwwwwww, and the menus looked like ancient artifacts, meaning if you didn’t handle with care, they would have fallen apart. My former favorite sushi joint Xaga had great food but treated us very poorly(see my past review) and so we’ve been on a search for our new favorite spot. Everything at this place reminded me of my grandmother’s storage closet… old, dark and moth ball smelling. Definitely not a fan.

Another great village spot. Sometimes the wait is long, especially on weekends but definitely worth it. The salad dressing is awesome and the rolls are one of a kind!

Amazing restaurant. Great quality and some of the best I’ve ever had! I recommend the sashimi deluxe for all you low carbers out there. It even comes with a rice-less roll!

Love the sushi here, always fresh. It’s the best sushi I’ve ever had. I’ve been to all(formerly four, now three) locations. The prices are not bad considering the quality you get. The salmon skin roll is amazing. The rice is great, seasoned well and cooked to perfection, real Japanese rice. The fish is super fresh.

This is our favorite sushi place. I love that they know us and always please us. The sushi is delicious, and their kitchen is quite good too. I really have not had a bad meal here. You will like it. The sushi is fresh and plentiful, sushi for 1 really can be for 2. The sea bass is very nice too. The sashimi salad is a great appetizer for the table, or for a meal. I love to have lunch there too, ask for the lunch special, its usually good. you gotta have the rock&roll #4, a little pricey but worth it! Have their spicy mayo too to dip those delicious rolls!!!

This location is better than the others. Food just seems better prepared. My favorite Sushi place anywhere. The younger waiters are great. The older one and the lady are not so much. I go 2 times a month for lunch. The sashimi lunch is my favorite. But we try different apps each visit as well. Best Ichiban beer. Always a cold glass and fresh. I travel 40 miles each way to go to this place. I get there at noon and stay just less than 2 hours. My time to relax and unwind. Bring a quarter for the metered parking. 2nd and 4th Thursday usually. Plus any other chance I get when I’m in Babylon or close. My stomachs growing as I right this. Yum

Another place that if you come late, you miss all of the waiting and pretty much have the place to yourself. Which is what happened last night. Came by around 9 and just made it. We had the place to ourself which made it even more awesome for a date night. The server was very friendly and helpful to newbies. We ordered chicken teriyaki and chicken kobayaki. They came with miso soup and salad. All delicious and perfect size portions. We also ordered a crunchy tuna roll and a tuna babylon roll along with 2 orders of tuna sashimi. These were very tasty and very fresh! If I were to make it back out here again, I would stick to the sushi/sashimi and rolls considering how fresh and flavorful everything was.

Far and away my favorite sushi restaurant. Service is sometimes just okay. Be prepared to wait a very very long time for a table(even sometimes during the week) but DEFINITELY worth the wait. The sushi is always fresh and the combinations are great. K-Mac sliders are a great appetizer. They come two sliders to an order and I’ve often eaten these as my main meal for lunch instead of just an appetizer. The fried oysters are good too Roll wise I love the caterpillar remix and hole-in-1. Kotobuki does not disappoint!

Hands down my favorite place to get sushi! Not only does it have the perfect location on Deer Park Avenue in the babylon village, but the food is perfection. They offer everything from salads, hot cooked meals, sushi rolls, and desserts. If you are looking to have a drink, I HIGHLY recommend the plum saki wine. Tastes more like a wine then saki, but is an interesting blend of the two. One glass is sure to take the edge off of things! The only downside to Kotobuki is the size of the restaurant. The place is very small and does not offer guests much privacy while eating. Tables are seperated just enough to walk between. There is an option to sit in a booth or at the sushi bar. This place is a must try!!!

Superb place to get your sushi-fix. The sushi is always yummy and fresh. The service is excellent. The only negative I have to say is the seating can be somewhat tight and cramped. But when you have great food and service, that can easily be forgiven. Pro-tips: –Salmon/Tuna Carpaccio appetizer = amazing –The ‘Grinch’ roll is fantastic –They do not take reservations, so if you plan on going on a Friday/Saturday night, go on the earlier side as it can get crowded.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Get the dynamite roll, shrimp go go, and the beef teriyaki(med rare of course)… It was a delicious meal and served to perfection, also sizzling hot just the way food should be served ! Their spicy mayo is the best I’ve ever had.

Visit Date: June 13, 2014 Came here on a lunch date with my friend Janell. The atmosphere of the restaurant is deceptive and classy. When you see the restaurant from the outside you think it’s really tiny, once you walk in though you see a lot of spice, nice wood tables, casual but elegant atmosphere. I had the aged tofu, vegetable tempura, miso soup and a salad.(The salad and miso soup came with the lunch special). I was impressed with everything I ate, everything was fresh and tasted just as you would expect it to taste. Just a heads up aged tofu is a little slimy. I think it’s great but if you don’t like eating anything slimy don’t eat the aged tofu. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. They actually have an afternoon break(which I’ve seen other sushi places do) so they are open from 11ish to 2:30 than take a break and don’t open again until dinner. Despite the fact that they were closing for the afternoon they didn’t kick us out of the restaurant or force us to wrap up quickly.

What was I thinking? Kotobuki baby, I’m sorry. I love you. Since moving to the area, we have come here several more times, mainly for take-out. The food is consistently delicious and fresh, we have never had a bad meal. Our standard roll is the Grinch(seriously, get this — you won’t soon be sorry) and lately the salmon carpaccio roll. However, we order two of the salmon carpaccio since it is only five pieces of sushi($ 7/roll). Believe the hype. Maybe dining in can be a pain, especially during the weekend, but if you live in the area there’s no better place for sushi take-out.

Pretty much every review here on Unilocal is correct. Definitely a premier sushi joint on Long Island for sure. Freshest of the fresh. Clean, fast, efficient service. My only complaint — the cost. But — you get what you pay for. most of the time, right? I highly recommend the mardi gras roll, definitely an interesting cajun twist for a sushi roll. Oh and those clear spicy appetizer noodles. friggin delicious!(and I normally hate cold noodles!) If you are a sushi addict. you must try Kotobuki.
