Charlotte the office manager and her husband Derrill were absolutely wonderful to us. They offered a $ 1 special for the first month as long as you pay for 2 months rental. They have locks at ½ price compared to the same product at Walmart. Unlike the previous 2 customers, my experience was top notch. Not only did they have us in a unit quickly, they went well above and beyond. Staying late to check our Uhaul truck in. Then also jumping my dead car battery, not once, but twice for me! Lovely people and I am very satisfied as a customer. To the other commenters, I’m sorry but thieves can steal from any storage unit if they really want. If you don’t have insurance, then you cannot blame the storage unit company for the loss of your items. I would recommend Abby’s for both UHaul rentals and storage. Easy access off the 99. Thanks for making our move to Bakersfield end smoothly :)

My daughter has had a unit there for a couple of months. She went to pay her rental fee… opened her unit, and everything was gone! Thank God they left her pictures. Three doors to the unit. One still had her lock on it, one had no lock, and the third had a strange lock and one that belonged to the facility. Single mother with three children and now they have nothing! People in the office said there was nothing they could do and that she should have purchased the insurance on the unit. Also said they have NO security cameras anywhere but at the gate. Sounds a little shady to me…

Thieves! Stay away! We moved out of town and rented a unit. Bought a good unbreakable lock from THEM, and we did not return back to our unit until 8 months later and guess what. 99.9% of our stuff was just gone! No break in. But all our collectibles were not there! Also my wedding dress, my childhood photos, vintage clothing, costumes, a ladder, etc. etc. all gone! And the lady that worked there was very defensive when we told them our concerns. Mind you we were not yelling but just very confused. They basically treated us like dirt, and we truly believe they stole all our items. Somehow I think it had to do with buying a special lock from them. «No one could break it» they said, but obviously they have a way to open it easily and put it right back. I also found videos on Youtube of how to pick the lock they sold us, and how to close it too. Only they knew we were from out of town. Only they knew we were not at the storage unit for 8 – 10 months. Only they knew we only came on weekends. Out of all those units why our tiny unit? Why not other units that have easy to cut locks? Why ours? One that had to be picked? Why would other thieves who want to grab the stuff with a quick escape actually leave some stuff there, all nice and neat? I am filing a police report.
