Everytime I’ve been here the drinks and atmosphere were great I just wish the bouncers didn’t randomly select people for cover charges and especially didn’t make up cover charge prices more than once was in charged 20 $ right before the group in front of me was charged 10 $ and some people were just searched and walked i was even asked to pay on a wendesday night to enter at 11 at night there was like 2 vehicles in the parking lot like really its not only is this disrespectful and unprofessional but it can really make a great place undesirable when thinking of a bar to go to. other than that the band’s are great the music is great the cage dancers are great

I was not sure what to expect when I first came here. Thankfully I AM hispanic and was prepared for anything. Me and Bae came in Saturday night and I think it was Cumbia night because lowkey that’s all they played which I was fine with but ended up going home early because we were tired and ect. Anyways. We got here early around 9pm and they had Cumbia Lessons which are included in your $ 5 cover charge(if I remember correctly) The security were soooo chill and very very friendly! The«club» is in this plaza so its kinda a hidden hole in the wall club. We did participate in the cumbia lessons which you actually DOLEARN stuff I was impressed being hispanic and all. The Interior looked remodeled or new but I bet it will get teared down in a couple of months. The people were super nice, they were no fights, drunkards, or stabbings? lol I was seriously expecting anything you know because we are in Bakersfield. no offense. Everyone that entered seem to have one purpose and that was to DANCE. It did not get packed but it was not empty so you had sufficient room to dance. Also I didn’t care about the selection of people because I had bae with me :) DRINKS(—) This is the only thing that I am taking off a star because they were tooooooo pricy in comparison to their venue. It didn’t match but w. e it was not a make it or break it for me. Maybe they should have daily deals or something so the place can get more popular. Would I come back? Definitely yasssss.

If you’re looking for the HOTTEST Latin dancing in Bakersfield, you’ll find it every Thursday and Saturday night at Cielo 9, located on the Northwest corner of Rosedale Highway and Fairhaven Drive, sandwiched between Fred’s Barbecue Factory and the UPS Store. It’s not very visible from the street, but trust me it’s hidden away behind the Hooters’ restaurant. Bakersfield Salsa Promotions presents Baila Thursdays at Cielo 9. There is a beginning dance lesson at 8:00 pm which rotates dances(salsa, bachata, and cumbia) and instructors(Alexandra Leyva & Abraham Magana). I have taken dance classes from both of these instructors and will personally vouch for the quality of dance instruction you will receive. For special events they bring in instructors from out of town, so add Bakersfield Salsa on Facebook to keep up with their schedule of special events. Or subscribe to their channel on Youtube. The music starts at 9:00 pm and goes till 1:00 am and is pretty evenly divided between salsa, bachata, and cumbia. The $ 5 cover charge for dancing includes the dance lesson. The Djs rotate between five of the THEHOTTEST Latin DJs in the Central Valley, usually two of them each night, so you’re certain to get a great mix of traditional songs and cutting edge new ones. There are dancers of all levels there, from beginners to instructors, and they’re pretty much all willing to dance with you. I haven’t run into a single dance snob yet! The bartenders are friendly and I haven’t heard anybody complaining about the strength of their drinks so it’s a win-win. The only thing one might ask for is a professional quality dance floor, but the one they have isn’t bad and the quality of the dancers and the music more than make up for the condition of the floor. The bar does not serve food, but there is a taco truck parked outside from 7 – 11, and they serve tacos inside from 11:00 to closing to help you manage the appetite you worked up on the dance floor inside. I have not yet attended Cielo 9 on a Saturday night, but they have a Cumbia lesson at 9:00 with Abraham Magana then dancing from 10:00 to 1:00 am. $ 5 cover charge for the dance and the lesson is included. Here’s a video of the two instructors, Abraham & Alexandra, dancing at Cielo 9 — just to let you know what you’ve been missing!

Previously the Sky Bar Lounge reopened and renamed to Cielo9 bar and lounge. Plays good music and has good ambiance. Drinks are decently priced. Thursday’s and Saturdays Spanish music with lessons early in the day and turning into regular dancing afterwards.

We went to Cielo on a Thursday night for Salsa. It’s a pretty nice bar, they had a decent sized area in the middle for dancing, and plenty of seating around. We LOVE our favorite little Bakersfield bar tender… She also bar tends at La Costa de Mariscos. She is not afraid to get creative, which my husband always appreciates. She is super nice also! The floor was decent for dancing, it wasn’t perfect, but we love our salsa, so we enjoyed it! There was a Rueda class with Billy held before the dancing starting. It was a great turn out! It seemed like some of the students were getting it… But others were having trouble. I personally think Rueda is a difficult dance to teach to beginners… but they all seemed to be having fun, and it’s a great way to meet new peeps. Edgar and Jaime did an AWESOME job DJing. Great dance music! I think if the floor had been a little better I would have given a five stars! I did not use the restroom, so in not sure on that, but the seating was comfortable, the bar was not slow, and the music was Fabulous!

My friends have been wanting to go here for a while and we were able to finally make it to this cute bar yesterday for a free Cold War Kids show sponsored by KRAB radio. Being from LA, I was expecting us to not even get in since we showed up 10 minutes before the posted time. But we found a great parking spot and were about 25 people deep in the line. The inside of the bar is class with tufted chairs/sofas, ornamental ceilings, and a few chandeliers sprinkled about. The bar arrangement is also nice. The drink prices felt a little high for Bakersfield but since it’s more of a club I didn’t mind. Very friendly bartenders as well. I would like to return on another night to see it in its full glory.

What a NIGHTMARE. It should not take 30 minutes of standing at the bar with cash in hand to get a drink. After an abysmal failure by the bartender(yes, you, Ms. Ponytail and glasses), we left. Within 30 seconds of arriving at the Alley Cat, we had drinks in hand, and were joined by about 20 other people who abandoned the event at Cielo 9, all noting the same frustration. I will NEVER go back.

Rating for girls night out chip n dale. Came in for the lady’s night out, featuring chip n dale dancers from vegas. The girls and I got VIP because why not it was only 50 bucks, the promoters did not live up to their flyers. It flat out was horrible, VIP were just 3 rows of white chairs no seperation nor crowd control what so ever. You had nasty, saggy, flappy, drunk women hovering over you while we sat and would stand in front of you while you tried to enjoy the show. Everything that was posted on the flyer was a lie, the fake djs played the same 5 songs over and over again, uless there was an actual performance. The men were just ok, some of the performances weren’t to bad which is why this place does not have 1 star. I would never step foot in this place again I was very dissapointed. This is just my rating for that horrible promoted event.

This place is located in the old Sky Bar Lounge, basically they just changed their name to Spanish; sky=cielo lol ok. Anyway it’s better than before because now it’s an entertainment spot; they have a bar, tables, couches to lounge, and now hold events here[music, comedy show, ladies night out type of entertainment ;-) ] I came Saturday for the comedy show, after the show it turns into a dance club. DJ Chuck One and radio station 94.1 seem to be the ones who take care of the music for this club, not sure if that’s only because they’re new and still promoting or if this will be a regular thing. To sum it all up; the place is nice, the comics were funny, I liked the music, I had a good time, I’d come back.
