Yuck! This place sucks! Is dewars the only place in town that knows how to make and serve great ice cream?

This review is for the Dryers section of Juicy Burger. First of all, I stood at the counter for a few minutes, rang the little bell and still couldn’t get any service at 3 o’clock with very few other people in either areas of the restaraunt. I walked around to the Juicy Burger section, stood in line and asked the girl if I could get someone to help me over in the ice cream area. She turned her back to me and mumbled, «yeah». I walked back around to the other side and ordered one scoop of cookie dough in a sugar cone. She didn’t respond or say anything to me, she just scooped the ice cream, put it in the cone and handed it to me WITHOUT gloves. Umm excuse me but I eat the part you are putting your hands all over. Oh and by the way right before I got her to help me, she came out of the restroom and handled money… meaning she grabbed the handle of the nasty bathroom and gross money before she handled food! Umm yeah I’m pretty sure she didn’t do that when they were given an A for health safety. Gross.

I love Juicy burger and the thought of a Dreyers being apart of them excited me tremendously. But how many chances can you give an ice-cream parlor when we have excellent ones here already. First attempt to eat there, we were told they stop serving at eight o’clock, so we scarfed down our juicy burgers to walk over to them at 7:50, sorry we closed our registers and not serving any more. Ok, I can understand closing a bit early(even though we told them 15 minutes earlier we were going to order as soon as we finish our burgers). About a week later we went back to them for another try, at 7:10pm, and they already had all their ice cream put away. The staff was no where to be seen, but the door and signs still all advertising open. Luckily Dewar’s was just down the street so we got to enjoy our ice cream for the evening.

This review is based upon my first and likely last stop into this place. This store recently opened up next to Juicy Burger, which I love. I assume the same owner as Juicy Burger opened this place as they opened a walkthrough inbetween the stores and they had up til recently featured Dreyers ice cream milkshakes in the Juicy Burger. Last night I ate at a nearby restaurant and my son wanted a milkshake so we walked over to Dreyers afterwards. I ordered a chocolate malt milkshake. I was informed they were out of chocolate ice cream and malt. We left! What kind of ice cream joint runs out of chocolate ice cream? Sorry to say, but with some good stand alone ice cream shops in town(Moo, Dewars, Rosemarys…) this place doesn’t stand a chance. They should have stuck with the limited selection of milkshakes at Juicy Burger.

I’m going to preface this review by stating that I’m not a big ice cream fan; I’m really more of a frozen yogurt kind of girl. Well, this is the place that might just change my mind! They had quite a few flavors of ice cream, cookies, and brownies. As I was perusing the menu and considering my options, a worker came out of the back and said, in the perkiest voice I’ve ever heard, «Would you like a sample?» And the sample was very generously sized, too! I’d been looking at the espresso chip flavor, but the big container was almost empty. There was only about ½ inch or less left in the bottom and I was thinking it’d probably taste kind of old and crusty. Well, I was WRONG! The flavor and texture was perfect! Very creamy! I was intrigued by the whole«build your own ice cream sandwich» option for only $ 2.50, so that’s what I finally decided on. They have a number of different types of cookies — chocolate, chocolate chip, and sugar among others — and you get to choose any two cookies you like(usually $.45 each). Then you get to choose your ice cream flavor — I went with espresso chip, the one I’d tried in the sample. It was simply amazing! They put so much ice cream in between the two cookies that they had to put the ice cream sandwich in a little cup. I used my little sample spoon to eat about 1⁄3 of the ice cream before trying to get my mouth around it. Here’s where it got exciting! The cookies were moist, fresh, and chewy — like someone homemade them and baked them just an hour before! These were REALLY good cookies at an ice cream place, not a bakery! Who knew! This was absolutely the best ice cream sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m already thinking about other combinations — strawberry cheesecake ice cream with the white chocolate chip cookies? Raspberry sorbet with the chocolate chips? They also serve several kinds of boba drinks($ 3.75). They had a list of different flavors of coffee bobas, smoothie bobas, and tea bobas. The décor was cute and reminiscent of the 50’s. They were even playing«The Great Pretender» by the Platters over the loudspeaker! There was also a refrigerated case with half gallons of Dreyers and Haagen Daz ice cream one could purchase to take home. This place is definitely one of my new favorites in town!!! You’ve got to try it!
