I love DSW in general. Their stores are always clean and they have an enormous selection(almost too many choices if you can fathom that). The thing is… Their customer service BLOWS. Today was my second time in there. The first time, I went to return some items I had bought online. I stood at the checkout waiting for someone to help me. It was obvious that I needed assistance and wasn’t getting it. There was a tall manager who actually saw me waiting, was behind a register, and continued doing his thing without acknowledging me at all. I’m not asking for you to drop everything, but I am asking you to at least acknowledge me and that I’m waiting and you’ll be right with me. Finally, he barely motioned for me to come up to his register and seemed annoyed. I told him I needed to return my items. He processed the return and told me I should have input my rewards # online, because I would have gotten free shipping. While that seems helpful, it actually wasn’t. First off, yes, I did forget to put in my rewards #, but I did get free shipping due to the total of my order. Secondly, he again stated that fact while obviously failing to realize that I did get free shipping… But he NEVER offered to reverse the charge. Again, it was erroneous on his part(because I had gotten free shipping indeed), but he never once offered to even split the shipping with me– considering I was returning my entire purchase! And the way that he said it was extremely condescending, almost as if he was saying, «What a shameful idiot you are for not entering your number and getting free shipping. I’m going to scold you about it not once but twice, even though I’m wrong to begin with.» Today I went in and was again ignored by the employees. Two of them were actually chatting and one showed another something on her phone. They laughed and one of them literally almost ran into me. Even a non-employee would likely apologize for that. Nope. No acknowledgement whatsoever. Either I’m invisible or these people don’t give a hoot about their jobs. I am highly disappointed in this place especially considering it’s in friendly Bakersfield. I have been to DSW stores in both Fresno and San Diego(not considered the friendliest of cities) that far outscore this place in the customer service department When you walk in, instant snotty vibe. Cold as ice. No customer service. Unfortunately, I have to try on most shoes before I buy them, but if I ever step foot in here again, I’ll try them and not buy. Then I’ll online and wait for them to be shipped, just so I don’t have to deal with them. Yes, that’s how bad it is.

SOMANYSHOES!!! This place is a shoe lovers paradise! So many shoes to chose from and every style imaginable. The associates all seem like they live there job and are always willing to help you find that perfect shoe. Last time I was there they were sold out of my size in the most adorable bootie I’ve ever seen but an amazing girl who worked the was able to order it for me on a tablet thing. She said it would take 4 – 7 business days free shipping and I could return it in the store if it didn’t work out for me. It arrived at my door 3 days later and was a perfect fit. Definitely worth a visit.

Wait wait wait… I went back and I learned some new things. They still have tons of shoes, the clearance was bigger, and the shoes were still pretty pricey. However, they have a rewards program and an end of season sale. The rewards basic is free and easy to sign up. You get points for every dollar you spend at the store. At $ 150, you get $ 10 off. I am feeling a little more tempted to come back. Plus I actually bought adorable wedges there today, so I’m extra excited about it. The service is still lackluster unless you actually ask for help, don’t expect much.

Large, clean store, OK selection but we left unexpectedly empty handed. even my hubby who is a shoe-holic stated that Nordstrom Rack had better deals and a better selection overall. I found it to be pricey as well. Even the clearance section seemed to have the original price marked way up(ex Havianas flip flops listed as $ 28 to begin with and then taking 30% off that is NOT a deal. Most Havianas at the Rack are under $ 13) Many on clearance also seemed way out of date, out of style. If you need a certain type of shoe and are willing to pay mucho $$$, you just may find what you need here. Just coming in to browse seems overwhelming to me with hundreds of shoes lined up and the«deals» are just not special enough.

DSW stands for Designer Shoe Warehouse and that’s exactly what it is. A warehouse full of designer shoes. And by designer they mean and brand pretty much lol. They do have some«designer» brands but there were definitely more brands that I didn’t recognize than those I did. I liked that the shoes were very well organized and they had many sizes available of most shoes the had out. You really need to give yourself a lot of time because there are rows and rows of shoes. They have all of the clearance shoes in racks at the back of the store and those are laid out by size, not necessarily by shoe lie the rest of the store. I also liked that they have some accessories laid out throughout the store including hats, scarves, and socks. The discounts on the shoes are not the steepest for the most part(well, not on the shoes I saw at least) but some pairs were very good dead so you really have to take your time and look. If you need a pair of shoes, definitely give this place a try! Especially their clearance section which has steeper discounts determined by a colored sticker placed on the price. Overall, it was clean, organized, friends customer service, and so-so discounts. 4⁄5.
