Some friends of mine and I went to El Patron last night and had a horrible experience… waiting. We walked in and went into the bar. It smelled like disgusting sewer! It was absolutely unbearable so we made our way into the dining area. After waiting for about 15 minutes and not even offered a glass of water, I walked up to the register and asked if we were going to get our order taken or how could we get our order taken, or if we could go to the bar and have it taken there, the guy at the register said, «eventually…the service is really slow here.» I said ok… so someone is going to come to our table though…“eventually.” WTF!?? So i walked over to see if i could order from the bartender and there was no bartender! The lonely guy sitting at the bar said no one was working behind the bar and that it usually takes a long time to get his food or drinks when he does go in. So needless to say, my friends and I walked out and I will NEVER be going to this place again! The service was beyond horrible and the smell matched it! Save your money and go somewhere else. This place is over priced for sure. If you’re looking for a traditional tostada, this isn’t the place to get one. Ordered a tostada with rice and beans and I ended up with a taco salad with the rice and beans inside of it. Was disappointed.

We just left El Patron. I’m not one to write negative reviews out of spite, and rarely write them. This is a legitimate *Buyer Beware*. First, the positive: The food was good. Standard Mexican fare. Unfortunately, the negatives were big. First, the service was ridiculously slow, and it took doing a song and dance to get our waiter’s attention. But I rarely bother Unilocaling for slow service. It happens. The nail in the coffin was a tiny sticker on the front of the menu saying that all of the food was now supposed to be $ 1 more than listed on the menu. I get price changes, but for the love, mention it when you seat your customers! Who scans the cover of a menu for pricing changes? And THEN, they actually charged us $ 2 more per item instead of the $ 1 on the sticker. That’s just bad business. That means that not only are you delusional about the right way to inform your customers of a price increase, you’re also not a trustworthy establishment. We won’t be back. I will now always think of this place as shady.

Food was excellent! I had the Chile Verde burrito, great flavor and very tender pork. My husband had the Santa Fe enchiladas which he said were great. Margaritas were good and very reasonable. $ 5 for a margarita in a large glass. Service was a bit slow, but there was a huge party that sat down just before us. Will definitely go back. Within walking distance to our house, if it wasn’t so cold out. Highly recommended for a great meal!

The shrimp coctel is the best! They also have great margaritas. My friend and I like to visit here almost weekly for drinks. I like the atmosphere of the dining area, while it’s on the smaller side, it’s very cozy without feeling cramped. We love having this restaurant here in the northeast!

This was our first time going to El Patron for dinner and OHMY! I can honestly say one of the best mexican restaurants I’ve tried in town. I thought I had found the right mexican spot before as I had reviewed other spots but hands down this is the best! Service was excellent! Horchata was delicious. We had the El Patron trio — amazing and costillitas en Chile verde(pork ribs with green sauce) — delicious! Also tried a michelada and a mango tango drink and it was also excellent. Priced reasonably(unlike other spots), will definitely be back!

This place is turning out to be a little east side gem. It’s nice to have a place like this on our side of town. First off, once you walk in it feels a little intimidating to sit in the middle tables but get over it cause the food and service are worth it. Every time we have gone we have been greeted and seated right away. Chip and salsa are on point. It’s traditional Mexican and it doesn’t disappoint. They have really good portions for the kids. I always seem to get the fajitas and they never disappoint, but the rice and beans, very very good. Feels like I’m eating at home. They have a lite bar in the back and patio seating for that one nice day. You know that day where you can actually sit outside. Really happy we have a place like this so close to home. Looking forward to more visit

Love Unilocal! We’ve found a few restaurants by reading reviews. One of these is El Patron. It was one of our hot days that Bako is so well known for, and we were pretty miserable. We decided on trying El Patron for a late lunch. Our server was a very pleasant young man with a ready smile.(Servers, take note. Be nice!) The salsa and chips were good, although we both prefer the Pico de Gallo type of salsa. It was very spicy and worked well with the rice, which was nice and fluffy. My husband ordered the Chile Verde burrito which is among one of the best he’s had. Seasoned just right, and the meat was very tender — perfecto! I had the grilled enchiladas, which consist of three cheese enchiladas that have been grilled! The beans were good with lots of melted gooey cheese. But I think I’ll stick with regular enchiladas. All in all, the burrito was the big hit! One suggestion: Use brewed tea. Definitely recommend!!!

It was my first time at this place and I loved it. Good and fast serves, good food. But the best part was the menu! The pictures made me want to try everything, I tried telapia and shrimp soup, and they both ware as delicious as they looked on the menu. I recommend to try this place!!!

This was my first time trying this place and it was really good! I had a long day so, I got a raspberry margarita, I had never had that flavor and it had the spot! The wait staff was really nice. Everything come out in a very timely manner. I got the shrimp, chicken, and steak fajitas. My Hunny got the bufadura burrito. Both dishes were excellent! It all tasted very fresh and just over all great! I have no problem going back!

Went here for the first time today. Service was prompt, really speedy and thorough. We got free refills on chips and salsa, and the salsa was perfect. Not too spicy and well made. We ordered two Bufadora Chimichangas I believe is the spelling. I really liked the green sauce. The food came out quickly and looked very good. Bell peppers were cooked well and not overdone. The chicken was better than the beef. While it was delicious, I don’t think it was totally spectacular. It’s pretty much what you expect from a decent Mexican restaurant that runs $ 13 a plate. Would definitely come again, although I might order something a little lighter next time. Very good restaurant.

It’s our fav neighborhood Mexican restaurant! The food comes out of the kitchen fast and the servers are so nice! I love their chips and salsa. And I just had an outstanding raspberry margarita last night(so long strawberry – why’d I waste my time on you?)! As far as main dishes I love their chicken tacos and chicken sopes. They both come with this incredible green salsa/sauce that’s so good in combo with the chicken. I always opt for the pot beans too instead of refried. The hubby gets their pollo cozumel and fajitas occasionally. You might miss this place if you’re not looking too hard. But give it a go if you are in the area!
