I found this salon on Unilocal and despite the bad review about Kim, I had an absolutely wonderful experience. I had very over processed hair and a lot of breakage. Kim was friendly and so knowledgeable and walked me through the process of healing my hair. She took my warn out breakage and turned it into something I can run my fingers through again. She took the time to be patient and give me the exact cut I was looking for while teaching me exactly what went wrong and how to fix it. I will definitely be back!

Kim is ridiculous. I went in wanting a simple asymmetrical cut (which I’ve had multiple times and showed her pictures of me with the cut) with some highlights. She decided that she needed to educate me on everything that was wrong with my hair as far as the way it naturally fell, cowlicks, etc. I was very adamant that I didn’t want the back cut above my neckline. She cut my hair above my neckline anyways. While proceeding to tell me to purchase a set of clippers and showing me how to cut it myself. When it came time to highlight my hair, I asked for a book and she said they just mix their own colors and I had to tell her what reds I liked in her hair?!? Next came time for her to show me how to style my hair, which again wasn’t necessary as I’ve had this cut before. She choose to make the process about her ego rather than about a cut and color. The whole process took 3 HOURS and $ 185.00 when all was said and done. She has an over inflated ego and it’s all about her.

I had taken my 13 year old daughter to Kim twice. Our third appointment had to rescheduled due to a conflict I forgot about. Kim was annoyed but we got a new appt in two weeks. 9 days later…9 days… Kim called to say she wouldn’t cut my daughter’s hair ever again because «I had stood her up twice» What??? No only was that a lie, but I’ve know Kim for ten years! I questioned her reasoning and she said, «You rescheduled» She may be a fine hairdresser, but she has no customer service or business sense. BEWARE! Kim is mean-​spirited and has no customer loyalty… even after a decade.

Full Service Aveda Salon. I love my stylist, Lyndsey McClure. She takes great pride in her work, she never rushes through and Lyndsey always pays attention to every detail. It truly is a therapy session for my hair, with a hair perfectionist like Lyndsey working her creative skills. The owner of the salon is, Kimberly Walton, anther great, creative stylist! Kimberly is always ready and patient enough to make sure all my Aveda points are updated. On my last visit, Kimberly was able to apply 1,000 extra points. If your collect points, you gotta call these ladies at Headquarters Salon to find out how you can get an extra 1,000 one time points offer. Plus, the ladies in the salon are more than willing to give any samples of their extensive selection of Aveda products. Overall, it’s always a relaxing experience.

I’ve been seeing Kim for my curly hair since I was 16. That was over 15 years ago. No one else does a better job for curly hair, and my color is always well done and natural looking. I’ve recommended her to many people who have become regular clients. That being said, she also doesn’t allow people to walk all over her, which might be the rest of the story that the one bad reviewer left out. She is definitely not about the money, because she never rushes clients out the door, but rather takes considerable care to make sure clients are happy with her performance.

Kim may know curly hair, but she is a total bitch. I had to cancel due to a family emergency, but before I can even explain why I needed to cancel, she lectured me on how she didn’t appreciate me canceling, and how I left her with an hour and a half space available. True colors came out. In the end, she can care less about her customers, because she only cares about $$$$. Never coming back to get an overpriced haircut.

April did a really great job on my hair. I asked just for a trim and highlights and told her she has free will with my hair. And she not only was a friendly knowledgable person she did what she wanted and I love it our appointment was a little late so I was out if there later than expected. But only because she is thorough and makes sure every customer is happy before they leave and that I can respect. Plus she called me in plenty of time to tell me she was running late. Definitely recommend anyone who is new to town or looking for a great new hair stylist to go to Headquarters and see April or her mom Kim who is also the owner.

After getting a bad haircut from someone who is supposed to be amazing with curly hair in LA, I found Kim on Unilocal.All of the other reviews were great so I made an appointment. I have never had such a thorough consultation and haircut/​style. Kim took a long time to listen to what I wanted and offered lots of suggestions to maximize my hair potential. Kim gave me an incredible haircut and I’m so very happy with my experience.

I can’t really say enough good things about this salon! Kim is amazing, I had so much color correction and calico colors from going through a half a dozen «colorists» within a year that I was amazed and pleasantly surprised with the beautiful natural toned blonde she gave me.
Before she began she covered my eyes and than took them away and asked what the first thing I saw was, I responded «my hair» (bleachy blonde) not knowing where she was going with this exercise. After she had given me both highlights and lowlights and had transformed my hair to an ashier darker blonde, she did the same exercise. I was suprised with how it drew all the focus into my green blue eyes and flattered my skin tone so much better! The best part was that she even gave me detailed instructions about how to care for and nurture my fine, dry, fragile hair so I could grow it long and healthy again.
I was actually sad about moving to Studio City just two months after finding her and sending my friends to her. Studio City has an Aveda salon right down the street from me and I went in, worried about yet another colorist’s interpretation of my hair color. I asked if the girl could call Kim and ask what she had done since Kim had written lots of notes about everything she did. My new hairstylist called and got every last detail from colors, to placement and recreated what Kim had done very closely! So helpful and sweet! Thankyou Kim!
I was only in Bakersfield a year but I noticed there are MANY hair colorists there and it can be hard to find the quality in all that quantity. Considering this is the only true Aveda salon in Bakersfield and the level of stylists/​colorists there, I’d never go anywhere else

When I moved to Bakersfield, I often wondered if I would have to make a special day trip to get my hair done in LA. So. I waited and waited and waited. until a friend decided on an intervention. Yup! My hair was that bad that my friend had to beg me to get it done :)
So, I figured its been that long and my hair is half red half black (faded out). how bad can it really get.
Well, I researched Unilocal and all the other review sites and found Headquarters. I called up and had a pleasant conversation with Amber about my hair and what I need done and she set me up with an appointment with April.
From the minute I made that call until I walked out with a fabulous haircut and color, I was just sooo happy. Well. even after I was really happy but you get the point! April was fabulous and so were all the other girls. It really felt like a pampering session with the girls. April and I chit chatted. April’s mom (Kim) was also there with a few other girls and they were all very sweet, extremely knowledgeable and just great over all.
The best thing was that they discussed my likes and dislikes, gave me good advice on my hair, type of color and style that would suit me and my lifestyle. Furthermore, they even spent extra time showing me how to style my hair when I am at home so I am not lost when I try to do it myself.
The other great thing is that the girls seem to try all the products on their own hair. Just that day, April was trying out a new protein treatment on her gorgeous hair.
I highly recommend this salon to anyone in Bakersfield. No hesitations whatsoever.

Kim is the owner. Very very knowledgable. If you want products she will give you exactly what you need and explain to you why.
She explains her reasons behind a cut and or color suggestion for you. I appreciate this because I know zilch about hair.

Personally, I think Kim is one of the smartest and most knowledgable stylists in the Bakersfield area.
The other gal working there, (can’t recall her name), is super sweet and the customers I’ve seen love her work and seem so confident when they leave.
If you don’t know Aveda products, they are the best I’ve found. I have damaged hair from going to a rookie stylist that didn’t know quite what she was doing… chopped off all of my hair and I’ve been nursing it back to life. I love my hair now and I attribute it to awesome stylists and aveda products.
Call to get an appointment, their schedule can get full for last minute appointments. If you have any hesitations, book a consultation, it is probably free. (Don’t let the ghetto mart next door scare you away, it’s really unfortunate the property owners let such a trashy joint in their establishment).
