It’s like a meeting ground for the city’s homeless. I understand homelessness is a problem and it’s a horrible situation for people to go through, but there are places out there that offer help to people. But this Jack in the Box seems to be the place where homeless go and live, which the employees doing nothing about. I was in the store yesterday and two homeless people almost got into a fight. Plus, they got my friend’s order wrong, despite being very slow at the time.

Service was great. Food was bad. Or more accurately, the food was old(previously cooked). I ordered the new Black Pepper Cheeseburger combo. The burger patty, onion rings and curly fries were cold and dry. The cheese wasn’t even melted. If everything was freshly cooked, it would have been an amazing burger combo.

We have eaten at this Jack several times and usually our food is warm and good enough. We used the drive through and ordered a burger and tacos at about 10:45. The burger was fine, but the taco shells were a little chewy. The service was fast and friendly. Even though there were several people in the drive through, we got through in about 5 minutes. The location is convenient and easy to get in and out.

I dont eat at Jack in the Box very often, this morning I was running late for work so I stopped by for a breakfast sandwich. A few cars in the drive thru so I decided to go in. The place is like a base camp for the homeless. Half of the lobby was filled with back packs and homeless people. Im just tired of getting hit up for money everywhere I go. If I gave one dollar to every person that asked me for money now days, I would be broke. So, I will not be going back to this Jack in the Box. This is not a slam on the homeless, I just choose to avoid the situation. There are plenty of programs out there for the homeless, unfortunetly it is very unlikely that the homeless folks at this Jack in the Box are willing to play by the rules of the programs that are available to help them.

Most Jack in the Box restaurants seem to focus on pleasing their customers much more than other fast food establishments, but this Jack in the Box in particular seems to be among their best locations. I visit here often, usually ordering something from the value menu. But occasionally I do decide to splurge and order one of their top-of-the-line selections. My favorite treats include jalapeño poppers and potato wedges. Sometimes if I order a combo I decide to indulge myself and substitute jalapeño poppers for the fries — if I really want to indulge, I also substitute a shake for the drink!(Such substitutions do cost extra, but they are still an excellent deal.) Like any restaurant, things aren’t always perfect, but they always seem to be trying to do their best. Sometimes(when they are busy) I have to wait longer than I prefer, or the conditions inside the restaurant are not up to par. The clientele at this location is sometimes problematic. On a number of occasions I have had to deal with solicitations inside the restaurant, even sometimes when I have been standing right at the counter! Homeless people seem to feel welcome to come inside and fill up their cups. I don’t know if this reflects a policy of the management or if they are not enforcing their own policies. One of the things that to me most indicates their attitude about their customers is their willingness to provide condiments(such as ranch dressing, something I often enjoy adding) without any extra charge. That’s something that has never changed at this location, even on a «bad» day. And that attitude makes me keep passing by some of the other nearby restaurants(which are more convenient) to keep finding my way to the corner of 23rd and Chester.

Ordered thru drive thru. Food is great and made to order. Person who took our order 4⁄18 @ 9pm sounded like she hated her job… overall good food.

Not bad, definitely one of the faster and friendlier Jack-In-The-Box establishments I’ve ever been to. I don’t really need to comment on the food, as it’s typical of any JIB menu. This location is a cut above b/c of its employees.

Considering how unpleasant most of the clientele is, I am amazed with how nice most of the staff is having to deal with this. I always get decent and efficient service. The value menu is devine. I highly recommend.

Bacon Chedder Potatoe Wedges– Good. Reggie working late night at the Chester/Columbus location– Great Other employees who hate their job at Jack– Not Good The only Jack-in-the-Box that I frequent at this point in my fast food existence is the location on Chester Avenue right near the bridge to Oildale. May be a suspect location at first thought but if you’re drunk or just up late then Reggie will impress you with his enthusiasm and great customer service. No mistakes, no thoughts of «spit in food» and best of all no zombie at the drive-thru window glaring at you like they’d love to stab you with the nearest piece of cutlery. Otherwise about every third trip to Jack(no Reggie) involves a mistake in my order, hence the 3 stars.

It would be one star if it were not for the excellent cheap eats menu that has come in handy far too many long alcohol encumbered nights for me to dismiss. So for two tacos for one dollar I bequeth two more stars than they truly deserve.

I had just spent the day ferrying Boy Scouts from a fire in the Sierras. It was from one location to another and just when we thought they would be safe, the fire would come at us and we would start the process all over again. I got to this place two minutes before closing. Most other JITB’s would have blown me off. I had not eaten since breakfast, the boys were taken care of by the Red Cross but I still had two more hours of driving and I was hungry. They took my order and cooked it. Thank you.
