The Stout, The Brown Ale & The Bully are all delicious! Bar is cozy and cool with an outback patio that is fun with lots of games! Service is amazing! Manny was super friendly & checked in on us all the time! And let us try different beers to help make up our minds! Thanks! However, calamari was disappointing. And didn’t like the smoking or vaping out back. But we are from SBCO and none of that! But we are here for beer and we’d come back in a heartbeat! Thanks!!!

Awesome food, amazing atmosphere, and great service. Manny and Nick are our favorites. Great for date night or even bring the kids and hang out in the backyard.

Great place to go, and try a lot of different beers. And at the same time, you can have a bite to eat. You have your choice of different Ales and things like that. Great kick back atmosphere.

My friends and I were on the way back home from Joshua Tree and decided to stop by this Brewery. We were supposed to stop by here on the way to Joshua Tree but they were closed, it was New Years Day, which is our fault for not checking their holiday hours. Their beers were good but nothing fantastic. I had the 3 sampler and picked the Triple Ale, Cyber Bully, and Widthwise. Cyber Bully was my favorite out of the three. My friend really liked their Citra Centennial. Usually if we love the beers, we’ll get a growler but not this time. Instead we just grabbed a couple of beers to go. I wouldn’t say this place was a MUST but its worth it if you’re in the area.

After attending the awesome Unilocal event we have ordered take out several times. My husband and I are absolutely addicted to the fried artichoke appetizer. Even without any dip this can stand alone and still be delicious. The batter/breading is seasoned so well that gobbling it up is inevitably going to happen. My husband and I are not huge beer drinkers so I can’t really comment as to their beer selection beside the few I tried at the Unilocal event and even then I don’t remember the names of them. As for the food it is clear that they have come up with a great menu that will compliment not only their beer but what you would expect from a high quality restaurant. Other must try items were the Mac n cheese, garlic fries, and if you are fortunate enough to go to a large event the whole roasted hog was awesome!

4 Stars!!! Common guys an easy 5 Stars… Ok so me and my wife come in and she is thirsty and I got the munchies so she ordered her beer and I ordered a fry I told the lady I wanted extra salt only so me and my wife sit down, Manny comes from outback to clarify and he tells me he can make it however I want it but that they use a seasoning salt that’s pretty good so I say lets do it. So he brings me a couple on a plate for me to try, which he didn’t have to. So we get this well portioned fry and my wife decides she wants chicken strips but that comes with fries too so Manny brings us our sauces and I tell him about our fries situation so he says«No Big Deal» I can take the fries and give you a salad instead… Wow really!!! Ok… So me and my wife are eating our great meal by the way. We see Manny walking around the room talking to people and giving great engaging service. So he walks out back and comes out to ask how everything was, we chat for a minute and he asks us if we have ever been in the back yard and we had no idea so he says he will come back when we were done to show us around. This place has by far the best beer in town and people like Manny should be up front were the customers are cause he is very engaging.

I have to say, the owners of this place are super nice, and it was great to meet them, tour the place and get to know a little bit about the history of the company. I am not a huge beer drinker, however, I am obsessed with the Zuess beer(sad I couldn’t make if for their wed night specail.) This is a Bakersfield classic, like Dewars or Smiths cookes… except for grown ups! It was named«Lenthwise» becuase the owners were swimmers at CSUB… How cool it that? So my advice: Beer, drink the beer! It’s really good. I am not a fan of the red, aged in wine barrel… and the citrusy stuff is good, btu not my favorite. I really like the stuff aged in the whiskey barrel(get it now bc it’s seasonal). Also, if you ever get an oppurtunity to go to a special event(like brew) be sure to snag some of the roast pig(best I have ever had). Food: Sandwiches are okay. The bread is really good; however, the makeup of the sandwich is nothing special. The stinky fries are my favorite. The chilie is super spicy, so if you can’t handle hot stuff, then don’t even try. Desert: If you are hankering for something sweet, the deep fried twinkie is much better than I ever expected. It was not greasy at all. crispy outside, soft, warm, gooey inside.

Mmmm. they have the best fish and chips, and their chicken strips are perfect! Lengthwise has yet to disappoint me! You seat yourself and they have a pretty large patio in the back, with lots of Dart boards. I’ve tried plenty of different types of beers and my favorite is the Snake Bite. My husband and I also love to go on Zeus Wednesday when the Zeus is $ 2. Fish and chips are .com, I always order mine with a side of Aviator sauce, a really hot sauce so if you like a kick try it next time you go! Warning it’s very hot!!! But sooo good! We’ve also tried many of their items and we’ve always been happy with their food. You seat yourself and go up to the bar to order.

Dearest Lengthwise — How many love children have been made from your delicious brews? Countless I imagine. Not only delicious and potent, but deserving of every major accolade achievable. One of the original Bakersfield breweries, Lengthwise excels in both food and beverage categories. I could go on forever about their beer, but so many others have covered that. Favorites? Zeus on wood and anything Citra. If there’s some kind Experimental concoction on the menu I’m bound the try it. Food? Delicious! It’s what you would expect in Bakersfield pub food. Trip tip sandwiches, fish & chips, mega-burgers with the occasional fancy flair, and bad-ass french fry creations. Volcano fries, anyone? Hand down, my new favorite is the BLT. Extra thick cut smoked bacon with super fresh tomatoes and leafy green lettuce(none of that iceburg crap here!), all on their house-made bread. Add the Jalapeño bread for an extra oomph. It’s not on the menu, so you’ll have to ask for it. What really sets Lengthwise Brewing a part is their commitment to the community and their willingness to make everyone happy. They continue to bring forth great beer and food at awesome prices. No waitstaff? That’s right! You have to go to the counter to order. But think about it this way; lack of waitstaff equals a lower payroll, which they then can pay it forward in their pricing to customers. Win-Win! Plus, it’s never difficult to flag someone down when I need an extra cup of their delicious house-made mustard.

Out of five stars, this is a hard three. A solid three. Not bad enough to go low; not fantastic enough for me to nudge it up. It’s good. Three-stars good. Hard, solid, three-stars good. I have visited every location thus far, and I must say that the only difference is a combination of the architecture and crowd. The Promenade location suffers from feeling too spread out; and the Marketplace location gets too congested. I enjoy their setup: Come in, order at the bar, sit yourself. It makes service«feel» faster. The food is delicious. Those stinky fires are dank. I won’t say they are the best thing on the menu, but damn, they are pretty good. They require some vamping as the Gorgonzola becomes overpowering and I found myself wondering if there was garlic and cheese added to my fries… or fries added to my garlic and cheese. The tacos are okay; I wish they used corn tortillas because their current tortillas are on-par with straight-from-the-package, big-brand-store variety. The beers. Very good, very basic. Nothing stands out but nothing really disappointments. It’s average. And because you order at the bar, it’s hard to say if service is great. They are friendly and they have great beer selections but I never really feel like they are going above and beyond to give me a great experience; much like their seating and ordering — that’s up to you.

We are steadily exploring Bakersfield in search of locally owned businesses and came across Lengthwise Brewery. Don’t be thrown off by the corporate park location, once you step inside you forget that you are surrounded by office buildings. I got the Harvest Moon wheat ale which was refreshing and sweeter than I was expecting. Not ready to indulge in the heavier menu items that the place specializes in(they have deep fried twinkies, for god’s sake) I opted for the chicken artichoke salad — and got a pile of deep fried artichoke hearts over the salad — more than its own meal! The service was friendly and helpful, and I might just have to go back when I am in the mood for some mac & cheese!

Sandi was great, the food was great. I can’t say enough good things about the operation. From the beer to the food to the service is great. The enemy of great is good, and this place was great Keep up the good work.

I found this awesome website that maps out every craft brewery in California. So I bookmarked a bunch of places along our trip. Lengthwise was our first such stop. We had already eaten and were just here for some brews. I went with a 3-sample taster. The term«taster» is used loosely here because they were 5.5 ounces each. I picked Ale Ya, Barrel Aged Zeus Imperial Ale, and Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Vanilla Beans. Actually, the guy said that I should get Cyber Beer Bully instead of Ale Ya. He ended up giving me both. The guy was right. I enjoyed the brightness of Ale Ya, but Cyber Beer Bully is smoother and more enjoyable overall. The Zeus reminded me of a barley wine while the imperial stout reminded me of port. My girlfriend had their Kern County Crude Porter and I thought that was very smooth as well. What we both found interesting was that there were many people coming up to the bar ordering wine. The place seems like a good hangout for beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers alike.

Okay, so I’ve been a huge fan of lengthwise lately. Their Tri-Tip Sandwich is amazing. Their Mac and Cheese is amazing. Their Jalapeño Bread is amazing. Their Zeus is amazing. Their Centennial is amazing. Their stinky fries are amazing. Their garlic fries are amazing. If you don’t agree, then you’re a stick in the mud!

On our quest to find breweries that make the drive from LA to Sac a little more tolerable, we have found another winner. There’s no better pain killer to the 5 ½ hour drive than the reassurance that a hoppy beer and a great meal are in store for us along the way. A 3:00 — 5:00 departure time from LA will land you here around dinner time. Leave any earlier, check out Dust Bowl Brewing in Turlock. So far we’ve sampled the bacon cheeseburger. Hefty sized burger cooked to order and cooked the way you order it. That’s a big deal. Not all burgers requested medium rare come out that way. This one did. Thank you. Pastrami sandwich was also something I wouldn’t hesitate to order again. The tuna is a tuna sandwich. Hard to spice that up. All the meals come with a healthy handful of seasoned fries. Not the norm in seasonings and that is a good thing. They’re tasty. Any sandwich or burger on the menu comes with a choice of bread. Their jalapeño focaccia is handmade, soft, and delicious. I don’t need to try anything else. Our favorite beer so far has been the citra simcoe centennial ale. We like the hops and this beer delivers. I wish they would start distributing over the vine into LA. I would buy it every time I saw it. Thanks, Lengthwise. The drive doesn’t seem so bad.
