Place is in a very cute town, and very charming inside. Went on a Sunday after 12 and it was a long wait, but we were able to walk around town and entertain ourselves. The food was reasonably priced, and they offer a wide selection of waffles that are both sweet and savory. Worth the trip!

Went here for brunch with a decent size group of about 11 it was busy but quaint the hostess told us it would be about 45 minuets to get a table we decided to wait once we ordered we were told to have a seat and they would bring over our food it was very quick service within 10 minuets we had our drinks and meals I had steak and eggs and it was fantastic one of the best I’ve had perfectly cooked and came with a terrific steak sauce on the side as well as some amazing home fries overall would have been 5 stars but a bit of a wait will defiantly go back again to try more of the menu

I love the idea of this place! They have a great menu selection and it is a very unique spot that is definitely worth visiting. I love this type of specialty/foodie spots and I think this one will remain popular. The waffle sandwiches that I tried were all delicious, and I would definitely recommend them(both sweet and savory). They only lose one star because the gluten-free waffle had a bad flavor to it, perhaps from the alternate flours used.

I love this little breakfast spot. Good atmosphere, great food and coffee. Just as good as it gets for a great brunch.

This is a great brunch spot. It is super busy, so be prepared to wait, although our last visit I think they snuck us in ahead because we had our babe w us. The food is always delicious, fresh and local when possible. Cute décor and even books and toys for entertainment. The only negative and reason why it’s not a 5 star is I always tend to feel a little rushed here. I get that it’s super busy but don’t ask if I want my coffee to go just to get us out of there. I guess that’s the hard part of being such a great, busy spot!

Amazing food, excellent 5 star service and the place is like looking at pinterest pictures! The coffee is excellent!!! You get coffee served to you while you wait in a cozy sitting room. Every dish I have had there so far has been the best quality and amazing taste! Prices are pretty competitive considering you are getting good quality wholesome local food!

Best and cutest place for breakfast in Ballston Spa. I would recommend this to singles or families. The food and service are great. Get there early because the lines can go out the door.

Possibly the greatest goddamn breakfast I have ever consumed. The eggs, when ordered overhard, are not burnt to a crisp. The sausage is NOT frozen, the roasted potatoes are expertly made, and the coffee… sweet Jesus the coffee. Don’t even get me started on it, it is the best damn thing to happen to this earth since bottled water. They also have the friendliest, quickest staff in the universe compared to other breakfast places I’ve been to. Every meal you get is high quality, and its so good I go at least once or twice a week. Go here NOW.

This place is my go-to breakfast spot. It has something for everyone(sweet vs. savory breakfast people) and the ingredients are top notch. This is not your greasy spoon breakfast, and you will drop extra money here, but it is worth every penny! Order the Lemon Berry Waffle with blueberries and a side of home fries and you won’t be disappointed! Read my full review of the Iron Roost on my blog:

Based on the online descriptions, I wasn’t sure what to expect; all the food comes on «a waffle» and I didn’t know how that would work, especially with the more savory items, but most of the food comes with a thin, ice-cream cone-like waffle wrapped around it, rather than the inch thick waffle you’d normally think of. You order your meal at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. There’s a huge bar near the counter with different sweeteners for drinks, fresh fruit and water. Me and my friends shared our items, so I got to try the banana foster waffle, the waffle fries and the steak and eggs waffle wrap. All of them were delicious. The banana foster waffle is a more traditional waffle, sweet and decadent. The waffle fries are what they sound like; regular thick waffles but only about two fingers wide, with a butterscotch-caramel dipping sauce. The sauce is VERY drippy, use your napkin! The steak and eggs waffle was delicious; fluffy eggs and tender steak in the ice-cream cone wrap. I am not normally a fan of steak sauce, but the meal comes with a homemade sauce and I tried it and it was DELICIOUS. I ended up globbing it all over the wrap. I also had an iced chai. Chai formulas vary wildly from place to place, so I was very pleased to discover that they seem to use the same Tazo base liquid as Starbucks, and they don’t water it down to tastelessness. My only criticism of the food was that it needed salt. The restaurant was pretty full and lively, but the sound level wasn’t disruptive, we were able to easily talk. The staff was friendly and pleasant. I really enjoyed it and(if I didn’t live in Maryland) I’d definitely go back again and often.

If you are expecting an actual waffle DON’T eat here. This was my most disappointing waffle experience ever. The menu was misleading and I was expecting my meal to be piled on top of a waffle, not a pathetic«waffle wrap» whose only semblance to a waffle is the pattern and shape. To top it off, the menu stated that the waffle had a hint of garlic with cracked pepper. Mine tasted like paper and my dish didn’t have basic seasoning. Overall, extremely disappointing. I won’t be visiting again.

My first time here with my 15-yr old niece who loves this place. Now I can see why. Love that they have a greeter who helps first-timers understand what to do as it is not clear upon walking in. I had the BLT and asked for a GF option on a whim, thinking no way am I going to get GF here. She said Yes and no problem! what? GF waffle options in Ballston Spa? Huzzah! That is amazing! So I am in love with this place just for that! The sandwich was delicious, GF waffle and all! The egg cooked perfectly and the bacon, crisp! My niece on the other hand felt cheated as the dish she regularly orders came under-dressed and not the same quality that she usually gets. So it may be inconsistent here, at worst. But that bacon waffle sandwich… I will be back for that again! And THANKYOU for GF options!

Breakfast in Ballston Spa is here to stay, and it’s «clucking» delicious! Iron Roost truly commands the attention of the locals by delivering a modern twist on breakfast foods, accompanied by quick and quality service, it’s no wonder why they always have a line to the door. Their signature items, like the Waffle breakfast sandwich served with real maple syrup, or their peanut butter waffle sticks served with grape jelly, have made them a staple for breakfast in town. They even offer several flavored coffees in their signature white Iron Roost mugs with an huge assortment of sweeteners and creamers to tide you over as you wait shortly for your breakfast. As Iron Roost is known for their exceptionally sweet breakfast foods, they also offer healthy alternatives like fresh fruit smoothies or yogurt, as well as gluten-free items too! Unfortunately, their dining area is small, and it’s not what I would refer to as a restaurant, but more of a café. Their small waiting area is charming and cozy, but I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes for a table. Fortunately, their staff is very attentive and quick to turn tables over for incoming guests, not to mention the food comes out of the kitchen lightning fast! Overall, I am obsessed with the breakfast at the Iron Roost and I visit as frequently as I can, and even though I live out of town, it’s unquestionably worth the trip. I’ll see you there!

This is hands down my favorite brunch spot in the Capital Region. We moved here last year from Boise, ID(there’s a lot more to Boise than potatoes… that includes amazing brunch ;-P), and were on the lookout for good brunch spots. I love everything on their menu but a special shout out to the bananas foster and the veggie and egg savory waffle(I forget what it’s called). These two are my personal favorites. They use fresh locally sourced ingredients and you can taste the difference. We now buy our eggs from the same farm as Iron Roost. Their coffee is great too. This place is always packed so be prepared to wait about 15 — 20 mins if you go during peak breakfast hours.

We arrived just before a crazy morning rush. You walk in grab a menu and order. Get your number and coffee then get a table available. Our food came out in less than ten minutes! The Jamaican coffee is amazing. I ordered a simple early riser. The hot sauce is so good and home fries are great. Nothing is overly greasy and did not leave feeling disgusting. The waffle blueberries were sweet but in a home made way. Best maple syrup I have tasted. My boyfriend had the southwestern fiesta. I should have ordered it! Sooo soo good. Order it.

This restaurant is deserving of every good review it has received in all categories: food; service; value; and atmosphere. We arrived about 11:30AM on a Saturday expecting to see a large crowd. The restaurant was, in fact, full and people were waiting in the small lounge area where you first enter. A sign said to see the hostess for a seat and we were promptly approached by a young lady with a cell phone(or iTouch) who asked how many people were in our party. Within 5 minutes our named was called and a table for two was assigned to us. We then approached a counter where we placed our order and received the world’s largest clothespin displaying our order number to place on our table. Since the waffle dishes fall in two categories, sweet or savory, we decided to try one of each. My wife ordered the Lemon Mascarpone & Strawberries($ 9) — tart and sweet lemon mascarpone, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream. She also got side orders of Seasoned Home Fries($ 2) and Fresh Fruit($?). I chose a daily special from the black board menu, Holy Fri Joles($ 8) — scrambled eggs, black beans, cheddar cheese, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted red peppers and smoky chipotle in a savory wrap. Both meals were delicious and plentiful. I especially enjoyed the flavors and texture of my Fri Jole wrap. The scrambled eggs were firm and filled with the beans, and other ingredients, and the wrap was thin like a crêpe. The only thing preventing me from attempting to pick it up and eat it with my hands was how fully packed the wrap was. The home fries were also very tasty although a bit salty for my current diet. Coffee is available as either medium or dark roast and comes from a roaster in Hudson, NY. Both were excellent coffees served in large mug-like cups. The menu board said one refill was available at no additional charge. When the woman who was clearing the empty dishes from our table saw that our coffee cups were empty and that we were preparing to leave, she asked us if we would like to get our refills to go. All the staff were friendly and efficient. With full stomachs, our hunger satiated, a check for $ 26.22 before tip, and leaving within an hour, we believe this restaurant has truly gotten its act together during its first two years and has an excellent future.
