U-Haul of Ballwin

This place is terrible! I will never use U-​Haul again, and you shouldn’t either! They cancelled our reservation somehow so they didn’t have the truck, so they offered to cut the mileage rate in half but we were going to have to drive twice as far just to get it from a different location! I called Penske right down the road and they gave me a much better deal right there on the spot! Use Penske! The trucks are better, the staff and customer service are better, and you won’t have to worry about whether or not they will actually fulfill your reservation!

I’ve had a bunch of interactions with these guys and their propane offering. I really like that they fill the tank all the way up. Those cylinder exchange places generally give you about 75% of a tank. Refilling is definitely the way to go for me!
My only comment (and why I docked them a star) is that service is highly variable. Some employees put the full cylinders back in the vehicle for you while others just hand them to you. Some bring out the remote credit card machine while others drag you back into the store to pay. Sometimes you wait quite a while for service and other times they see you pull up and come right out. I would really like to see them smooth out the experience a bit.

I’ve had pretty good luck with U-​Haul in general, but this one is the best I’ve found. I’ve used them twice, and the GM Ron McCabe is friendly, honest, helpful, efficient, and knowledgable. If you’re anywhere near this location, it’s the way to go.

GREAT U-​HAUL location!
We were in town and needed to rent a 4×8 trailer to bring some stuff home and scheduled to pick up a trailer here. One really nice thing is that they are open on Sunday — a lot of the U-Haul’s in the area are closed on Sunday.
Second is that they provide GREAT service — they don’t just take your money, hook up the trailer and say goodbye. Nick, the guy who was outside to assist with the hookup, made sure that we were pleased with the condition of the trailer, he also made sure to do a full safety inspection — checking all the lights making sure the tires are properly inflated, etc.
As it turns out we had a problem with the lighting controls/​pigtail in my van that controls the lights. I had a feeling that we had a problem — we rented a trailer from a different UHaul last summer and had the same issue but were unaware of it until we got home.
After his initial diagnosis, he brought a coworker (Ken) out to diagnose it further and determined that there was a problem with the controller and that it needed to be replaced. He had a controller in stock and had it replaced in less than 10 minutes.
We cannot recommend highly enough this U-​Haul location and its’ employees! A+!

This is the uhaul that refused to honor their promise to compensate me for the disastrous truck trip I had when I moved. It was a brand new truck that broke down 16 times over two days and 900 miles. Multiple calls to the main number and two mechanics on the road and they offered me 170 dollars for my trouble on a 1100 dollar bill. I didn’t expect them to cover the whole bill but they could have done better since I had to get a hotel at 99 for the night and had to reschedule the guys unloading the truck. Very pitiful customer service.
