Went here late night after arriving in Baltimore at around 10. There are a ton of options for a burger. They have the«build a burger» option which is what I did. They have everything from beef to chicken to bison to kangaroo. There are also a lot of cheese options and sauce options as well as several styles of fries. There were also 10 – 15 signature burgers to choose from. The problem I had with the burger building is it seems like they start top nickel and dime you as you go. Paying a quarter for lettuce or tomatoes seems a bit much for me especially when I’m paying a dollar or more for my cheese and other more exotic options like avocado or onion rings on my burger. My girlfriend got a salad and what came out looked like a bowl of shredded lettuce that you top a burger with and didn’t have the salad dressing she had requested. Our friend we were with also got a salad that was drenched in salad dressing. Had around 8 beers on tap with a lot of local choices which was nice because we always like tasting the beer of places we go to compare to what we have in the southeast. The IPA was Key brewing was delicious. Three people with a burger, two salads, six beers(two of which were Naty Bo) and three shots of well whiskey was 80 bucks.

Went back and it was just as good! I’m curious if anyone else thinks the burgers have gotten smaller?

Love this place! Both here and their Ocean City location are amazing. Love creating any burger using any meat on any bread(or lettuce wrap) with so many cheese options. Huge selection of toppings(crab, avacado, bacon, peanut butter, egg and so much more). Tater tots with crab dip is pretty special too!

I came across this establishment on Facebook; I had seen a friend checked in and they messaged me that they have vegetarian options. To which I thought, Great! I had a choice(for burgers) of their homemade veggie burger, a fried tomato burger, and a mushroom burger, each with their own type of fitting toppings of sorts. I was excited to go and been planning to take the walk over for a few weeks now. Its a little hidden away which was kind of nice because its not in a super congested area, it is small but at least its not small and loud. We must have had about 4 different people ask if we were ready for our orders to be taken, so it made it a bit hard to know who our server was, and who to tip at the end. But they were attentive. My boyfriend customized his Angus burger and subbed the fries for chips. His comments were it was good, but their burgers are thick so the center tasted unflavored. The cheese almost seemed like nachos cheese to him and was a bit much, but he in general enjoyed his food. I went for the veggie burger as I am a sucker for homemade veggie burgers. It was topped with avocado, sprouts, spicy mayo, and a yogurt dressing of some kind on a pretzel bun. All sounded great, and I HAD to get the waffle fries. Waffle fries, yes I will walk here ANYTIME for those. Chik-fil-A… move out of the way. However, the veggie burger, should be renamed to veggie spread on a bun. It was a pattie SHAPED blend of mushy veggies. I couldn’t even make out what I was tasting. It was the consistency of something you would dip a chip in, there was no bite, no crisp or sign they attempted to cook this is any way. Any other veggie burger I have ever had was grilled, fried, baked, cooked in some way. This was a luke-warm at best soft pattie laying on top of mashed avocado and sauces. To bite through a soft bun just to be met with squishy texture is nothing less than unsettling. I ended up not being able to stomach it and just eating the fries. However with that being said, I still will come back to give the others a try and of course get more waffle fries! The service was nice and the general atmosphere was good so this is a place we will revisit… just… no veggie burger next time!

We were out for a conference in Baltimore and stopped by this place for a quick bite while rolling around down town. It’s a bit hidden hole in the wall but on a sunny day it was an amazing atmosphere and friendly crowd.(something hard to replicate in DC.) It was really clean and gave off a great vibe(nothing like a dive bar youd expect) They have a pretty explorative menu when it comes to meats, toppings, and choices. We stuck to the premade burgers and fries(both sweet potatoes and regular). The food here is nothing over the top amazing but definitely will hit the spot if your craving a good burger and beer. Probably closer to a 3.5 and worth a stop :).

Baltimore residents rave about this place, but I didn’t quite get the wow factor to it. My bf and I ordered the crab tots, the Baltimore burger, created a kangaroo burger and had a side of sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were really good as was the crab dip on the crab tots. I’m all for gourmet burgers but I can’t say abbeys was worth the price. However, if you’re interested in trying out exotic burgers I guess it’s worth a try.

We came here after already having snacks, which probably wasn’t the best idea, but whatever. I DID get the crab tots, slider dogs and a Berger cookie alcoholic shake. Crab tots were delicious — tots topped with crab dip. What’s not to love? It also comes as a big serving size, which only makes things better. I can’t say that I feel the same way about the slider dogs and shake. They’re called slider dogs because they use a cut up slider bun instead of a regular hot dog bun. Sure, it sounds cute and quirky. In reality, it makes a terrible vessel for the hot dog — they’re too small and the toppings can fall through easily. The shake would’ve been better without the alcohol. They may want to consider on toppings and layers to the shake rather than making it alcoholic. The shake was alright until you get to that aftertaste. At least you can really tell that there’s alcohol in it? While we’re on the subject, I would also avoid the fried pickles — the bagged doesn’t stick to the pickles and it just ends up being a fried batter with a normal slice of pickle. While I didn’t get a burger, I will say that the pretzel buns looked great and my friends said the beef tasted like it was good quality. Service could’ve been better. Our food took a while to come out and our sever looked miserable the whole time. I mean, at least fake some enthusiasm.

I died and went to burger heaven. It was my first time here, so the server was quite helpful in showing me how to navigate the order form(yes, there is a form). Basically, if you order straight from the menu you don’t have to put any thought into it. But if you want to customize anything, go to the order form and specify everything… type of meat, how you want it cooked, type of bread, cheese, toppings, sides, etc. While they had quite an exotic collection of burgers, I wasn’t really up for a kangaroo burger so I opted for the bison burger instead. The server made an excellent recommendation on the side of mac & cheese(delicious!), and after about 30 minutes I felt like I needed a scooter to roll me out the door. If you want a great burger, this is definitely the place to stop!

I know this is a burger place but I am in LOVE with Abbey’s Crab Dip Tator Tots. SOOOOOOOOO good and addicting. The tots are crispy and delicious. Surprisingly, they are not soggy like you would think they would be when covered with crab dip. I always get them as a side with a burger. The Santa Fe burger is flavorful and spicy. I get the Chicken Burger if I feel the need to choose a «healthier» option– it’s topped with lettuce, tomato, sprouts, avocado, swiss and house made chili pepper mayo. On this last trip I tried the Tempura Fried Pickles– while interesting, I would not get them again. I really want to try the Simply AJ10 and Berger Cookie Shake. Looking forward to my next visit!

If you are an avid burger fan, look no further. You have found ‘the’ restaurant! I always get the Bison burger with either cole slaw or mac and cheese. They have a variety of draft choices as well. They even have kangaroo burger(Don’t get that though. Not my personal favorite). How neat is that?!

This place was recommended to me by some coworkers, and a group of us went there on a Friday evening. Everything was good! Nice atmosphere, the staff was friendly, and the food was good! Only thing I would say was a negative was that it was freezing in there… I’d definitely go back!

If I could eat burgers every day I would do so here at Abbey’s. …It took us about 15 minutes to locate the«alley» in which Abbey’s is situated. Once we got inside we plopped down at the oddly low bar chairs and requested menus. They have so many options it’ll make your head spin. My fiancé and I had to reread the menu about five times to figure out what we wanted because there were so many great choices! For the experimental foodies, Abbey’s has a lot of «exotic» meats available such as Kangaroo, Elk, Boar and Rabbit. At the time, I just couldn’t be «different» so I stuck with my regular bison burger TOPPEDWITHAMAZINGNESS. My burger came with crab dip, jalapenos, cheese and a special sauce: YUMM =) Note: There is absolutely NO cell phone service inside(None-Zip-Zero) so if you want to double check on what to order on Unilocal,do so before entering. Don’t forget to check in!

Updated review to one star because I suspect they stole my friend’s debit card. Swung by for an early dinner. Very happy that we were served ice water right away without asking. It was cool they had several veggie options, but the veggie burger didn’t have a good flavor and was way too crumbly. The macaroni and cheese was above average(but not amazing) with good quality noodles and a thin sauce. I really liked the fried pickles, but was put off by the attitude of the server — he asked when we wanted things served, and somehow got snotty when I told him to just bring things when they were ready. I’m confused why people rave over this place.

Burger place in fed hill, I was originally gonna go to the local fry but it was closed so ended up coming here! They have different burgers for $ 10 with chips($ 2-$ 4 for different sides) and also build your own burger. to be honed I think the burgers on the menu are much much better deal than the build your own. We got Hawaiian, pulled pork, Harry’s, and one build your own with Kobe beef. Harry’s was good, would recommend, but Kobe beef was nothing more than just a little more tender. Enough chips though, their burgers are actually smaller than what I’m used to because I actually finished it. Burgers were good. but would I return? maybe for the kangaroo meat. but otherwise probably not. none of us left with a full stomach.

Food was excellent! Very tasty Angus burger, juicy and clearly hand formed party from the melt in mouth texture. Nice brioche bun, tasty battered waffle fries… Mmmm. My wife’s crab cake wasn’t jumbo lump as promised… But despite backfin meat was very sweet, likely Maryland meat– quite tasty! Beer on tap selection amazing and fun! I loved the rye porter from Dundalk! Clean, busy, fun bar atmosphere — tons of TVs if that’s your thing. Only quibble — service. We were seated at Bar– greeter was prompt and friendly. But we were slow to get orders taken, slow to serve, and the bill pay was excruciatingly slow… Yes they were busy, but they had two bartenders are so many barbacks running back and forth it almost felt ignoring us was purposeful… And we bathed!

This was a small place with a few tables. The bar was also small. I sat at the bar and the service was solid. The menu was extensive and there was also a sheet where one can customize their own burger. It was very nice to see and gave lots of options to pick from. The only problem was the added costs if additional toppings are ordered. It can add up quick. The only issue regarding service was our appetizer came after our burgers. I am not sure if that was the kitchen or bartender’s fault. For an appetizer, the alligator bites were ordered($ 11). This was fried alligator meat. There were only 6 of these bites. I did not find this very appetizing. It was decent when mustard was added, but without it, the bites were not that great. I have tried alligator meat before and this was just a different taste. I was just not a fan. For an entrée, I ordered a customized burger. I am not sure what the price was. I ordered the ostrich meat due to the kangaroo being out. The ostrich burger was on a pretzel bun with chipotle mayo, pepper jack cheese, habanero pickles, and lettuce. There was also a side of chips. The burger was small, and season less. The meat tasted like a normal beef burger. The chipotle mayo was spicy along with the pickles. They added a nice flavor to a bland burger. The chips were however very solid. Will I go back? Yeah, lots of different meat choices I would be interested in trying.

Pining for a burger after my fill of turkey, my first meal in Baltimore was a filling one indeed. Friday afternoon and got an immediate seat at the bar. Lots of interesting things on the menu, especially with the meat options… wild boar, bison, kangaroo, and even camel. Did a build-your-own burger: Camel patty with gran queso cheese, tomatoes, pickles, and bacon all on a pretzel bun($ 15). Thought that since it was a hard to find meat, that they would skimp on the patty size. I was wonderfully mistaken. Barely could get my mouth around this giant burger, but everything stayed in place… for a bit. Cooked well, and seasoned with the right spices. Just had to add a bit of hot sauce for that real kick it needed. Also shared the Crab Tots($ 9). Heaping pile of fried tots smothered in crab dip… amazing. I was really surprised by the food at this unassuming bar. Beer list is solid as well, with a couple of local beers on tap. Absolutely will come here again for a different burger.

Ask anyone in Baltimore where to find the best(and most unique) burgers, I guarentee you they will point you in the direction of Abbey Burger. It’s located down a little alley in Fed Hill. You might actually pass it if you weren’t paying attention. Try the waffle nacho fries! It’s a fun twist on nachos for a burger place. It’s waffle fries topped with cheese sauce, jalepenos, black beans and tomatoes. I’ve also had the crab tots, and while they were good, they weren’t the best I’ve ever had. It’s just crab dip on top of tater tots which makes it pretty heavy. I think it could be improved with some melty cheese on top. As for your meal you can either build your own burger or order off the menu. Building your own burger is always fun. Abbey Burger offers interesting options for meat(lamb, duck, turkey, kangaroo, beef, etc) and also offers the meat of the month(I’ve had camel and wild boar). For burgers off of the menu, the Santa Fe burger is my fave. It has jalapenos, salsa, guacamole, spicy crème fraiche and pepper jack cheese. If spicy is your thang, then get this burger!

Short Summary = small cozy place with good service, great beers on tap, and awesome food Abbey’s is a bit hard to find for the newbies since you have to walk into this fire-escape looking street(Marshall St.) after you are on Cross Street. Great beer selection on tap — plenty of Maryland brews(see picture) I have custom-made my own burgers before(always great), but can be a bit pricey once you load up on toppings like cheese, bacon, avocado, and sprouts. Try the burgers from the menu — great value. Got the chicken burger for $ 11 with an extra fried egg for $ 0.75 extra that has avocado and sprouts along with pepper jack Just enough TVs to catch up on all the sports actions… Servers/bartenders have always been attentive; however, since the place is small(probably not the best place for a large group), it gets filled quickly especially the bar area. Quirky bathroom setup with the sink faucet area opening out to the main dining area without a door.
