I had the please of visiting Baltimore recently for a seminar for work. Spent a couple of the evenings in the quaint Fells Point neighborhood around the harbor. One place that I would definitely visit again was a little bar called the Dead End Saloon. Drinks were decent and the food was good. I had the fried fish sandwich with fries. The fries were a little on the bland side for me but Mike the Manager recommended the malt vinegar infused mayo… AWESOME! I usually dip my fries in mayo instead of ketchup anyways… but the malt vinegar addition was genius! Mike was very friendly and accomodating. Ended up spending an hour or so there and had a great time!

(04/28/2012) The Dead End is as neighborhood-y of a bar as you can get in Fells Point. There was a only one bachelorette party the night we were there(they rolled up singing Flo-Rida’s Low on some kind of Viking bike-peddeled umbrella ship. Place was unbearably loud, service was dismissive at best. Food was above average for a bar, but couldn’t really call it good. Tried the Crab and Shrimp Quesadilla; a basic cheese and something thing between torillas, some fishy crab, some chunks of shrimp, a sprikling of Old Bay. The Famous Crab Lumps were lumpy, had a little kick in the creamy imperial sauce; French bread was a semi-sliced loaf(sliced and toasted would’ve been nice), seemed a little lazy. Nice selection of beers when they flow through the tap, prices as expected. An interesting piece of history, the bar still has the original urinal trough. And a confederate flag next to the flag of Israel. I’m afraid.

Stop! Don’t drink that shot. There is something floating in it! The highlandtown bride to be, irony not lost that her batchelorette excursion begins at the Dead End, smiled and admonished this rookie«come on it’s a pickle shot!» Indeed, a cucumber seed and garlic chunk laden pickle juice and vodka concoction is the speciality of this holdout dive in a prime Fells Point space. The unholy bathrooms are on par with the Kislings impressive sketch. Salty deck hands fresh off of the tugs plow through the respectable and cheap bar fare. Brawls ensue if the cream of crab, seafood nachos, and burgers are lame. Dead end is not beyond bartering natty bohs to the swarmy guys who stocked a half cord of «their» firewood on a snowy evening. Gentlemen are swindeled on the pool tables, and parking is easy. Fells Point professonal drinkers pack the bar to save some pesos on the cheap swill. The beer pressure to have a round of pickle shots was intense. Grin and bear it, and hold down the bile. You are going to taste that kosher brine for hours.

A great neighborhood dive tucked away at the very end of Fells, away from the rest of the madness. Ended up here with a group of about 10 on an early Saturday evening after the Citypaper Brew Fest. Since Red Star couldn’t seat us for like 3 hours, we decided to check out Dead End, and thank goodness we did! The bartender was so friendly and had a table set up for us in like 2 minutes flat. $ 2 Boh tallboys and $ 10 crabcake w/fries… yes please! Super chill with friendly service and suprisingly good bar food. This place is definitely a keeper on my list.

This is a regular person’s neighborhood bar. Off the beaten path, no «hurry up I’ve got other people to wait on» attitude that you get from some of the crowded spots. Good staff and beer selection. The bar is comfortable and has a pee trough built in… that silver gutter under the bar –that is a pee trough, isn’t it? As I write this, I’m starting to doubt myself. I’d come back next time I’m in town.

Generic bar food. Way below Bmo standards(but cheaper) but still a regular spot for me due to the friendly people and proximity to the boating life. Good half price burgers on Weds I think.

Was in from out of town and ordered the fish and chips… delicious! The bartender made some potent drinks also. Nice little dive bar kinda place. I dig it and will go again next time I am in town.

What a great place hidden in Fells Point! They have AWESOME burgers and fries! It’s just a really cute, quaint little place with a nice beer on tap selection.

This is one of Fells Point’s hidden gems. It’s just far enough off the beaten path that the typical Friday and Saturday night popped collar crowd aren’t going to come in here… and just dirty enough that the Hopkins crowd will default to Red Star rather than coming in here. And it’s cheap, and the food is good(albeit on the greasy side). You can definitely come here, down several beers and stuff your face on good food and play a game of pool, all for under $ 20…and that’s really hard to beat.

How can you not like a place that isn’t packed wall to wall on a Friday night? Finding a table was easy. Getting our order in was easy. Easy easy easy! On a Friday night, in Fells! Very rare indeed. The waiter was friendly, and checked in on us without being imposing. My cheese quesadilla was bigger then my face – I appreciate that. My man was overly impressed with his dinner, which I think was roast beef. He actually ate everything on the plate. The prices are reasonable, and they have good beers on tap here. This is a great place to spend an afternoon or a Friday night.

Great dive bar. One of the few bars I have been into that only pours from 1.75L bottles. This is where you belly up to the bar, put a few bills in the jukebox, throw back some shots, and shoot some pool.

Local haunt that boasts 2 pool tables and several games. I’m not sure how they fit it all in the tiny space, but they did it! The beer is cold and cheap(bohs are $ 1, used to be 0.75 as noted by the other reviewer) and the food is good. They make it all themselves that day in their tiny kitchen. The fries are hand cut and very yummy. Burgers are good too as is their meatloaf and soft shelled crab sandwiches. They have beer and food specials everyday and the prices for them can not be beat. I like this place b/c most people are at Red Star and other newer, yuppier bars, leaving this one to be what it is– a local, low key place where you can relax and feel at home. There is local art on the walls(periodically) and one of the older waitresses is an artist — chat her up about this to get on her good side. Their website is actually pretty helpful if you want to check it out before you go.

Smaller bar, slightly off the beaten path of the other Fell’s Point bars. Stopped by on a hot weekend afternoon, very friendly staff, and 75c Natty Boh [edit: now $ 1], can’t go wrong.
