This is my favorite date spot in all of Baltimore! Incredible Italian food, great cocktails, and wonderful service!

We love Hersh’s. It can be a bit pricey and the cocktails are a bit small, but it is worth it. We try to get something new each time we go, and it is always spot on. We love it so much we had our rehearsal dinner there, and everything was marvelous. The staff recommended the bruschetta as one of the appetizers which sounded somewhat boring, but Hersh’s made bruschetta memorable and delicious. Compliments for days from our guests. Great date spot too.

I lived in NYC for over a decade, been to Italy, New Haven… and the pizza at Hersh’s is just as good. Does not reheat well. It’s meant to be eaten there. The staff is super knowledgeable. The rest of the menu is also always super tasty. LOVETHISPLACE. Wish they were in a different neighborhood though. ahem… Mount Vernon…

Loved this place! From start to finish we had a really nice time. Wait staff were all friendly. We were there on a Friday night and they honored happy hour prices at the tables, usually happy hour is only for people seated at the bar. For a party of four we split 2 salads, had two of their fresh pastas and two pizzas. The pasta plates come in ‘small’ and ‘large’. I didn’t think the large pasta was all that big but with the salad and pizza is was plenty of food. Since almost everything is made in house we wanted to try everything so ultimately the portion size was just right. They were nice enough to sub the smoked mozzarella on the margherita pizza which was out of this word. Paper thin crust, delicious sauce and amazing house made cheese. I’m envious of the people who live nearby who can drop in any time. Can’t wait to go back and try more pizzas and pastas!

Love this place! The ambience is great and cozy. I wasn’t blown away by the pizza, but my husband and I loved sharing the meatball appetizer(with homemade ricotta!) They have a great wine selection and I can’t wait to go back on a Wednesday night for half-off bottles! 4 stars because it was a tad bit pricy for the portion amount. But overall, a good choice!

The food and service at Hersh’s is great. Every single person that works here are very friendly. The food tastes wonderful, especially the sausage, which was full of flavor. I have only been here once so far but will definitely go again. I recommend that you call ahead and get a reservation as there is not a whole lot of seating. You will enjoy!

If you don’t mind decent beer and self serving get your stuff and get out service, then this is the place for you. I ordered the clam pie and it was very blan and plain would not recommend it. Pizza is supposed to be simple and you shouldn’t have to cut it yourself. Over priced Pros drinks are perfect measures and decent not very good for the price For the record If you don’t look the part(business attire or fancy in anyway) you don’t get an attentive service or respect Ps The bartender was very intensive on getting me to order and it felt like I was being rushed out of the restaurant all because I had casual clothing on I tip well every time. The shrimp and calamari was not bad lots of flavor

We started with the meatball appetizer which was really delightful. Not too heavy or filling for two people. We split two pizzas, the Il Cipolla & Tre Porcellini. They were both tasty, but I wouldn’t put them in my top 3 Hersh’s favorites. It was extremely loud upstairs. That was the only negative. The waitress was very sweet and helpful.

I am mad at myself for not coming to this place alot sooner, I was very pleased with my dining expirence here. Went on a Friday evening for dinner, this particular night it was a little late, like aroung 10:30 so it was pretty quiet in the restaurant which was totally fine with me. For starters we tried the Papas Meatballs, which is a mix of pork, veal and pancetta in a tasty tomato sauce, they were really good, so good I wanted to order another bowl. And for pizza we tried the Da Funghi, which is a mix of talleggio/fontina/artisanal mushroom mix/sherry-thyme vinaigrette, we also added some meat to the pizza to give a good mix, we added the soppressata and house made sausage. Man that pizza was heaven, better than other pizza I have had in a long time. I also like their craft beer list as well, they carry a fan favorite, not your father’s root beer, which tastes like actual root beer, but be mindful they can sneak up on you. I normally gravitate towards a cocktail, but this particular night I opted for a nice glass of Rose’ Another plus is that they validate your parking if you park in the garage for the Blind Institue, just make sure you are out by 11:30pm, that is the only catch. I would most definitely return to Hersh’s if I am on that side of town again.

Good service, good food. First, about parking: they have free parking a couple of blocks away on Wells St, Comes in handy on a Friday or Saturday night. I had the tequila shooter which was nice but over-priced(and only about an ounce of liquid). Then, I had the gin/grapefruit drink which was also nice … chilled, refreshing … caught a nice buzz between the two drinks(on an empty stomach). Meatball appetizer was delicious(enough for 1 or 2 people) as was the Tomato Crustini(small portion but very nice taste). Kale and pistachio was excellent(although I also added mushrooms and extra fontina … there *still* wasn’t much cheese but it was a very tasty pizza). Margherita with prosciutto was delicious, too, as was the Margherita with arugula topping, We also got their triple-pork topping pizza(Tre Porcellini) but I didn’t care for it … the pork was crumbles(not chunks or slices) and it had a funny taste. Just wasn’t my thing. The pizza crust is fresh and each pizza serves 1 to 2 people, depending upon how hungry you are. I’d definitely come back.

We had dinner for the first time last night at Hersh’s. When we entered we were greeted by Chris. I requested a table for three. Chris asked if we had reservations and when I replied no, I figured we would be buried in a dark & dingy corner. Chris sat us at a prime table with a window view. Imagine if we did have a reservatIon. The food was very good and the service was EXCEPTIONAL! Today there was a voice message on my phone from Chris. He Said a wallet was found on the window sill at our table after we left. He Googled my id and hunted my phone # down to let me know. I never even realized I didn’t have it with me. I went back and picked it up. I am so impressed with every aspect of our experience with Hersh’s. We felt so Welcomed from the moment we entered and was thanked profusely for our patronage as we left. When I picked up my wallet I was so grateful. The only thing Chris wanted was our continued support. He made it seem it was us doing Hersh’s a favor with our patronage. Well we WILL most certainly return and will tell all our friends of this great experience. Our daughter lives two blocks away and I’m certain she will tell two friends who will tell two friends who will tell… Thank you, The Spiegs Ellicott City, MD

Went here on a Sunday night around 8 and this was way better than my last experience. Our waitress was super nice and let us take our time. We had an appetizer that were 3 stuffed portabello mushrooms… let me say I do not like mushrooms at all. And I liked this dish a lot. Then we split the chopped salad and the abruzzo pizza. Everything was delicious! We may start coming here more frequently. Our bill was approximately $ 35 and we left there satisfied. Check this place out if you’re in the area.

I didn’t really know what to expect when I came. I usually imagine pizza places to be a bit fast paced, crowded, and loud. I was really surprised by the ambiance when we arrived. It was a quiet corner of the neighborhood, although it could also be that we came at an off hour. We sat outdoors, which might have also helped, but I thought it was a very relaxing atmosphere and didn’t feel crazy rushed like other places. We started off with the lamb meatballs and the bone marrow crostini. The meatballs were good, but didn’t really wow me. I really enjoyed the bone marrow, though, and I thought the topping of shallots, capers, and parsley was really good. It reminded me vaguely of chimichurri sauce minus the capers. As for pizza, we ordered the Kale and Pistachio, and the Tre Porcellini(sausage, braised pork, guanciale). Both pizzas were delicious. The crust reminded me of naan. I enjoyed the Tre Porcellini, which was really saucy, and I thought that the Kale and Pistachio, which is a little more subtle in flavor balanced it out well. Not sure if I would want Kale and Pistachio by itself, but the combo of the two pizzas was very satisfying. Overall a really nice experience.

I am so glad that I finally made it here! Our server was top-knotch, she did a great job of describing the menu and helping us make choices. The food was great, LOVED the Wood Fired Spring Onions and Fumo e Fouco Pizza. An extra bonus is the easy parking!

The food was awesome here. One of the best places we’ve tried in the city in recent memory. Grilled spring onions was my favorite. Fresh, moist and good sauce with nuts. Pizza was great. The fried eggplant, clam and pistachio as tellers recommended was great. The cinnamon ice cream with and without liquor was enjoyable. I’ll be coming back many times this summer especially when I have guests in town.

In case you had trouble guessing from the title. This place has pizza and drinks, and they did not disappoint. It’s a delightful little place is in South Baltimore, on the corner of Light and Wells — just far enough south of Fed Hill that you can easily find parking. The restaurant’s exposed brick, and the metal tables and chairs lend an industrial feel, but when combined with the logo of a beehived Hon eating pizza and the sign«pizza for president» above the bar makes it utterly charming. We had reservations(yay points!), but snagged a few seats at the bar. It was happy hour — and they have great specials; cocktails, or wine, or 210oz mugs of beer for $ 5. My friends got a few of the Kir Royale(pictured) with Crème de cassis(a sweet, dark red liqueur made from black currents) and sparkling wine with a beautiful lemon twist. I had the adorable glass mugs of beer — and the 2 for $ 5 was entirely mix and match. There selection isn’t large(10 or so), but is thoughtfully updated to match the season. I tried a few, but my favorites were a local brew by Brewer’s Art, and a sour belgian wheat. IMG_0007We started with the Prosciutto Balls — chopped prosciutto mixed with ricotta, house made smoked mozzarella, and piave vecchio(a nutty parm like cheese) dropped in an egg wash and deep fried — creating a ball of oozy cheesy goodness served with a sweet and tangy house-made marinara. In fact, we ordered them again for dessert – so good! Despite the German style name– this place has fantastic Italian food. How could we skip the homemade pasta section and based on recommendations? We chose the salty Pork Cheeks. I didn’t know I liked pork cheeks, but the meat was super tender and matched expertly with the smooth, creamy polenta and sweet, crunchy walnuts. Most importantly, let’s get to the wood fired pizza. With seven house styles, who could choose just one? We got the Pork Piccante; a doughy crust covered with the piave vecchio, smoked mozzarella, braised pork, spicy fresno chilies and olives(there they are again, and I still didn’t hate them). The winner of the night was the Margherita — the yummy marinara sauce combined with the smoky fresh mozzarella, and oh yeah, the fresh basil. I wish I had a better picture of these delectable uncut wood fired pizzas, but they were too mouthwatering to resist. Especially with the cute little side of crushed red pepper. I am excited to go back. But next time, I will be going on a Sunday. They have a $ 20 fried chicken and beer deal. I can’t wait to try their unique Calabrian style double-fried chicken, sides of polenta and braised greens. Given the quality of draft beers, chances are great that you will find something you’ll love. I’m not sure what means for a chicken to be double fried or Calabrian, but I can’t wait to find out.

I’ve been here a few times, but this last visit we had was a less than delicious time. I recommended this place to my boyfriend and as we were leaving, he said my restaurant picking privileges were revoked for at least a few meals. SERVICE: 5 stars. Really attentive and knowledgeable. The food came out really fast and all at the same time– our fault because we wanted it send as ready. ATMOSPHERE: 3 stars. It was a Friday night but the bar only had two people and there were maybe five other tables. It seemed slow and lonely but maybe the crowd is more late night– we were there around 630. Food: 2 stars. THEPIZZA: Not good and I don’t understand if maybe what we got was a fluke. We ordered the margharita pizza to keep it simple. Somehow the bottom of the pizza was burnt black. I found myself peeling off charcoal like flakes, but weirdly enough the top of the pizza with the cheese and sauce was super soggy and wet. Not great. The crust was really chewy and flavorful. If only the whole pizza was like that. CARBONARAFRIES: very dry and I think there were guanciale pieces but I couldn’t tell. I kept putting pieces in my mouth and being disappointed by a burnt fry. MUSSELS: were in a soupy broth with sausage and olives. Probably the best thing we ordered. There’s two slices of bread on the bottom but we asked for some dry bread. We like to dictate our bread’s sogginess level. DRINKS: Happy hour is SOCHEAP. Two beers and a shot for $ 7. Wow. OVERALL: I don’t think we will be back. The service is really nice, but that just isn’t enough to bring us back for burnt wet pizza.(I know, it sounds like an oxymoron but that’s what actually happened!)

With Hersh’s so close, it’s a fave go-to for us for either take-out or to dine in! We especially love the warmer months, when we can eat on the patio with the dogs! They bring out water bowls & treats for them to make them feel welcome! The ambiance is cozy & can be romantic or lively with friends. Everything is always delicious, but just wanted to share that last night’s Gnocchi alla Norma(with Ricotta & Eggplant) was amazing! We also got the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, the Dry Aged Steak Dal Forno, and a Margherita Pizza with homemade Sausage. The Steak was great, but the portion size was really small(only complaint) The pizza is always tasty, and we love the thin pie with the fluffy crust. It’s not the cheapest meal for us, since we share an app, each get a pasta/entrée & share a pizza, but it’s worth it! The menu changes frequently, so get the Gnocchi while you can!
