Worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Not authentic at all. They use frozen veggies. Chicken tikka masala was like eating dried out chunks of shoe leather. The chai tea was obviously made from a mix. If anyone gave this place a good review, then they DON’T know real Indian food.

Always phenomenal. I’ve made a point to try the chicken tikka masala whenever I eat at different Indian places(including in other countries) and I still haven’t found one I liked as much as Kumari!

I ordered food here through order up and arrived to pick it up on my way home from work tonight which happens to be a really busy night. I got there and realized I had ordered from the other location(completely out of the way and during rush hour!). I apologized and told them it was entirely my fault and would just have to call the other location and let them know I wouldn’t make it(the meal was already paid for but I figured nothing I could do about it). The woman at the front was so kind, SHE called the other location for me and had the guys in the back remake my order for no extra cost. Not only was the service amazing, but the food was REALLY great! I will be back and encourage everyone to try this place!

Got chicken masalsa delivered, the sauce was kind of watery, and didn’t have a lot of flavor.

Outstanding food, probably the best Indian I’ve ever had. Great service as well. Will definitely be back soon!

I had gone here for the lunch buffet on a Thursday. All the hot foods were nicely maintained, warm and delicious. The cold items were also nice and crisp. I have been to a handful of Indian/Nepali buffets and this once is definitely held in high regard. The item selection for the buffet wasn’t overwhelming and you could tell they paid great attention to each item they are offering. Overall, a good choice for someone new to Indian cuisine or a regular.

A small restaurant with a cozy feel… but u have a feeling most of their orders are for carry out! It was empty on a weekday. Had the chicken tikka. Apparently the Medium spiciness level barely has any spiciness! next Time will ask for extra spice! Chicken biryani is fabulous, spicy, and filling. Service was great. Overall a solid 4 stars.

Solid but nothing special. The vindaloo was good, the chilly chicken flavorful but a little too sweet. Aloo Gobi was pretty bland. Naan was fresh and crisp. I’d recommend if looking for an indian food fix, but not going to knock your socks off.

I would have formerly given this place ¾ stars for delivery but twice in a row we got rubbery, undercooked chicken and I just can’t give them another shot after that. The buffet was great but really who wants to eat an indian buffet then head back to work? Best part of this place is the Naan.

I ordered the butter chicken, the chili chicken and the Nepali vegetable sampling platter and everything was excellent! The butter chicken was a bit too heavy for my liking but I highly recommend the chili chicken and the garlic naan too!

I order from Kumari way too often. It’s one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. I’ve even ordered and taken Kumari to friend’s houses and they rave about the food. My usual order is the Coconut Korma(with shrimp) and garlic naan. Both are delicious and recommended. I’m knocking off a star simply for inconsistencies(and one consistency which drives me nuts). First off, there’s not enough shrimp, and when I specify to add shrimp onto the order, they never do. Second, inconsistencies: sometimes there are cashews in the sauce(which I love) and sometimes there are none at all. The chefs need to communicate to make sure they are all following the same type of recipe. In addition, sometimes the shrimp is way overcooked.

Best tiki masala I’ve had. Came with sauce on the side, perfectly spiced, and topped with peppers. Huge difference from the pool of sauce I’m used to slopping through to find chicken when I order this dish elsewhere. When they forgot an item they came back with it immediately, and included a complimentary side. I can’t see myself ordering Indian anywhere else after this and am excited to try more of their specialties!

I could make a meal out of those steamed chicken Momo’s… Wow! I have been back twice and I love everything from the Nepalese section of their menu.

I come here all the time for takeout, delivery, and dining in. There’s also a lunch buffet that’s a great deal even if not a huge selection(but whatever, when it comes to Indian food I’ll eat whatever is put in front of me provided it’s good quality). We don’t have a lot of Indian options in South Baltimore so thank goodness Kumari is delicious! Their«spicy» here is not too bad, even for my gringa self, so if you love the chilis you may want to ask for an extra spicy option? Recommend: the Butter Chicken and the garlic naan. Oh heck, just get it all. Indian food makes good leftovers.

Came in here for lunch with co-workers last week. We all did the lunch buffet and I was very pleased with it. It’s a rather small buffet but for the price($ 10), you can’t beat it. Everything I tried was very tasty. Free naan at the table is also an added bonus. The restaurant is very small but they were able to accommodate our party of six. I look forward to coming back here for lunch again.

I was in town for business and I stumbled upon this gem while killing some hours before my flight out. I walked by and saw the sign said that the lunch buffet was starting in 15 minutes so I waited until that started then walked in. The buffet has about 12 – 14 main dishes and 4 cold sides/salad type dishes. I’m vegan so I didn’t try them all but the ones that I did were absolutely delicious. It tasted exactly what I suspect real authentic Indian food tastes like. The star of the show was the super fresh and hot garlic naan that comes straight from the kitchen(yum!). You can get as much as you like and it does not disappoint. I wish I lived in the area so I could frequent Kumari all the time. If I’m ever back in the area I definitely know where I will be heading. Don’t wait and head to Kumari to get a delicious meal.

I ordered the chicken chili(hot) and the lemon basmati rice. Both dishes are amazing. The chicken chili comes with a small container of white rice and the spice is very good for hot. The lemon rice has a ton of flavor. I will definitely be ordering again!

11 months later, no real improvement. Specifically asked for spicy and it was bland. Flavor was OK nothing special. Service a little slow considering only one other table occupied and apparently sparse takeout that evening. It was even a little pricey for what we ordered. Clean and friendly but just no big deal

Located next to Shoppers in Locust Point, this Kumari is the younger sibling to the Kumari on Charles St in Mt Vernon. The lunch buffet here, compared to the other location’s, promises the same excellent service and the same delicious complimentary chai tea, with about 2⁄3 of the variety. It is priced more inexpensively, though, at $ 9.95. For the lunch buffet, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of chutneys, ~10 different dishes(including aloo fish, butter chicken, pakora, spinach paneer, goat curry), and one dessert like gulab jamun(doughnuts in sweet syrup). Shortly after you’re seated, a basket of naan will be brought to your table. During my most recent visit, the naan was initially warm and fluffy; however, after a few minutes, the heat magically dissipated and the texture became chewy and tough. Major bummer. At the bare minimum, an Indian buffet should be able to make great naan that can taste delicious for more than a few minutes! The dining area is just a small and cozy room, and it’s easy to overhear conversations at adjacent tables. If you’d prefer a dining space where you can have a more private conversation, or if you want more variety, head north to the Indian buffet mecca on Charles street in Mt Vernon, featuring four Indian buffets(Akbar, Nepal House, Indigma, and Kumari) within a few blocks of each other. But for a chill neighborhood-friendly Indian restaurant in Fed Hill /Locust Point, this place is sufficient!
