Went here Friday evening for dinner and was rather surprised at the overall low key neighborhood restaurant feeling that it had. We just missed the Friday rush and had time to enjoy our company and the meal. The servers were attentive to our needs and the food was great. I will definitely be putting them on my bookmark list and returning whenever I am in town. Prices were pretty average for a restaurant like this so I was not disappointed with anything.

I’m going out for lunch almost every day during the work week and I specifically enjoy the Darbar for its buffet where I can get a very well balanced meal. The price is very reasonable and it is all you can eat, including the desserts. You have there a very good sum-up of all the best Indian specialities! The staff is also very nice. It is not a fancy place but everything is simple and tastes good.

Food is excellent as always. Tonight the waitstaff was less than par. Very disappointed at the way our table was greeted as compared to other tables, and, we were never checked on, or had drinks refilled. She asked if we wanted our dinner mild, medium or hot. She then asked the next table how they wanted spice: 0 – 10. She had been short and not friendly. Now, we waited 10 minutes for our check and, she brings it and tells us their machines/internet is down. She says she has to write out information down for later(credit cards!). When we asked he why she didn’t tell us this beforehand, she said she was busy… We were the only table here at the moment. She proceeds to hand me the phone and wants me to give my credit card to someone over the phone. Unbelievable!

Burnt naan is NOT good(or tasty) naan. I will take a moment to react while I pick away at charred pieces of bread. Darbar was revisited because the initial taste of the Chana Masala was remembered as quite superb. After coming back, I was greeted with lackluster flavors and mild customer service. I AMSTILL on a quest to find better Indian eats in Baltimore. I am typing this review real-time while the disfunctional staff is arguing in the kitchen. Trial and error.

The staff is welcoming and the food is above par. Also, the buffet on the weekends is a very awesome option!

Took so much time to prepare order. When I came back home there was plastic in between naan. The food is okay not so great!

Very solid Indian food at a reasonable price. I think this place gets penalized by fellow Unilocalers for not being exceptional in anyway but at the same time it is a reliable Canton option that shouldn’t be ignored. It’s not as cheap as Jasa Kabab. It’s not as opulent as Endigma or the Ambassador Dining Room but it does a good job at offering good Indian food that is both traditional and a reliable option for delivery or takeout. If I have a choice, I tend not to eat here because it’s greatest knock is the ambiance of the interior. If I could give it 4.5, I would for that. Just ignore eating in though, and this problem solves itself.

For starters, they have free off-street parking across the street from the restaurant! That is a huge plus because parking in that area can be a pain, so it’s nice they offer free parking if you end up driving. The food was great! My go to is usually the chicken tiki masala which did not disappoint! Their nan was also super fluffy and warm(I’m a huge nan snob, so this part was important to me). The waiter was patient and willing to go over any menu items we had questions about.

It isn’t the best Indian food I’ve ever had but it is a good deal for $ 9.95. It is true that the food doesn’t taste amazing, the service isn’t the best but the owner is friendly and she is helpful. The naans are delicious, their desserts are very well done. You should give a try if you like mild Indian food(it isn’t spicy at all).

If you live in Baltimore and you aren’t eating here, you are doing it wrong. This is the best indian food I’ve ever had! And they serve Kurkuri Bhindi(fried okra w spicy mango powder) — I can’t find it anywhere else and it’s completely addictive. Everything there is good, I crave it. We moved away and it’s the restaurant I miss the most!

Probably the best place in Balto to grab some Indian Food. I took a half day of work and came in here for lunch.(I mean who on earth would be productive at work after eating a massive amount of carbs and going into a diabetic coma) Was greeted and promptly sat down in a very simple but class dining area. Nice flatware, glasses, white table cloths and relaxing ambiance. Food was great, hot and plenty of it. Would get 5 stars from me but I saw a customer leave and instead of changing out the table cloth the server came back with a Clorox bleach pent and removed the stain. Table cloths should be removed and changed after each customer, similar to how you must use a clean plate every time you go to get food.

This is my favorite Indian in Baltimore city. I always get lamb or chicken vindaloo. It’s the spiciest I’ve ever had and I appreciate that. Not to mention their Indian nachos(they bring this out first for dinner) and naan. 5 stars!

Very good food. Went for the lunch buffet with a larger party, Nice sourroundings, quick service and excellent value for money. The buffett offers everything you can wish for and the good was just really delicious! Naan bread, soup, onion bahji, chicken curry, Creamy spinach, lentils, kofta and much more. They even offer desserts: sweet fried dough balls in syrup(forgot the name) and nice rice pudding. The mango drink was superior, too a must-do! Despite all these positive things it is still not a high-end restaurant but I would go any time again without hesitation.

Very adorable Indian restaurant. 5 stars for the atmosphere and person ability of the staff. I could barely take a sip without them refilling my drink. Extremely friendly people and I hope they do well. Food was mediocre… But I will try it again some time and get the biyrani instead of the tikka masala, which relied heavily on cream rather than spice for its flavor. I tried three types of bread… Two were just okay, but the third was amazing. It was stuffed with onions and spices. I’ll skip it next time and go to Jasa Kabob for better quality at a better price. Still, they were so kind that eventually I’d like to try it again. In no rush to do so though.

Excellent Chicken Tikka Malasa! Order takeout from here all of the time, portions big enough to split between two people. Haven’t been to the buffet in a long time – always seem to run out of the more popular foods, but it is a great deal.

I would go to Darbar for their lunch buffet. It is a solid option for a quick, affordable lunch on weekdays. I have tried dinner once and didn’t feel like it was worth it. I would rather drive to Mt. Vernon or Columbia for a better option. I do not love their décor, either. It seems dark and I can sometimes see the inside of the storage area which is rather untidy.

Good LAWD this place is amazing. I crave it. I’ve had lots of Indian food all over the US, Europe and Japan and this one is definitely in the top 3. Maybe 1? I find chicken tikka masala is hard to master the way I like it and they do it perfect. The raita and bhindi are amazing too. Today had the buffet and standouts were also the cabbage and kheer. And it’s blocks from my house! Fate.

Okay I would say there are far better Indian buffets and take outs there. The food here was lacking flavor. Not only that the staff here were not friendly at all. I am not sure if I ended up going on a off day, because the reviews were good on this place. I have only been here once but was not impressed at all.

Making a reservation through Open table at Darbar did not count for squat, forcing myself and my date to wait for 50 minutes WITH a reservation. granted it was on a valentine’s day, a wait was expected. However, we also ended up waiting another 1 and 15 min for entrees as well, spoiling the dinner portion of the date. The food was at most is average. I probably wont be coming back, with far better options for Indian food around Baltimore.

I’ve been here a few times for the buffet and haven’t been disappointed. It’s pretty consistent but not always in a good way. They are always out of naan… always. It just doesn’t seem like they ever check the buffet on their own. Someone always has to ask them to bring out more and then it’s another 10 minute wait. Every time I’ve been there, there have only been a few other tables so I’m not sure why it takes awhile to get water refills and plates cleared. The food is good. Sometimes the chicken in the tikka masala is a little tough and not as tender as it should be. It’s the only buffet in this area so I’m sure I’ll be back but at least I know what to expect.
