Long John’s Pub

I love this place! The bartenders are incredibly friendly, and the overall charm reminds me of a cozy basement with karaōke, keno, baseball and more. Not that I am much of a Keno player… but this is a perfect spot to catch up with an old friend, make new friends and relax at a reasonably priced joint. I knocked off a star because there is no beer on tap, but they do make delicious shooters. And mind you, I am not much of a shooters type!

This is a fantastic dive bar with friendly bartenders, good fried food, and super cheap beer. You can’t really go wrong here.

You may or may not get kicked out of this bar. It depends on the bipolar mood of the bartendress. If you like being treated poorly despite being a consistanrly good tipper this is the bar for you! Some people love that $hit ;-)

I was really hoping this would be the kind of neighborhood bar I could find in Remington.. .sadly disappointed. The bartenders act like they’re doing you a favor by even acknowledging you, and I can’t shake the feeling their ‘local bar’ vibe somehow comes hand in hand with bigotry (ask my lover, who was warned not to leave the to-​go-​6-​pack at the end of the bar unattended because ‘someone might steal it’, that only ‘someone’ being a black man getting cash out of the machine 10 ft away. WTF?).
Anyways, it’ll do the trick in a pinch. I just wish it were more welcoming, better service, and had some tap.

Just a neighborhood joint, but a decent neighborhoood joint, Long John’s serves decent food but unfortunately only so-​so beer. The crab cake is the priciest thing on the menu at about $ 10 or $ 11 buck and it is worth it. I had a burger on another occasion and it was ok, but then, the price was right. Cheap food when that is all you want.
No draft beer. That, my friends, is a tough one. And while beer consumption in general is going down while craft beer consumption is going up, the only evidence I had of that trend at Long John’s was Heavy Seas IPA. That is a decent beer. But c’mon. If Long John’s has no pretensions of being for the snooty beer snobs, at least they should support the local brewery more than that. Still, if you just want to hang out and shoot the sh*t with friends over a few bottles of Bud, this place will do the trick.
I saw the same bartenders there the few times I have gone in and they are exactly the type that a neighborhood bar needs. Gritty like the area they are in, but pleasant enough underneath and a memory of having seen you before. Cheers.

It’s a sh*thole neighborhood bar full of locals. The owner sports a Ravens neck tattoos which should be awarded a cameo in the next John Waters film. The bartenders are so-​so. Alway complaining about doing a job that they signed up to do. I don’t get it. I say just stay away unless you’re looking for carryout.
