Best soup in the world and this place has amazingly kind ownership. I used to go to the perry hall location before I closed, then I would drive all the way down town to get my soup fix! I am so happy I live in the area now and can eat here whenever I want!

Awesome soups and sandwiches! Very homey feel. Staff are very nice and welcoming. I had the roast beef sandwich with horseradish. The roast beef was cooked to perfection and the horseradish was spot on with taste. My friend had the butternut squash soup. A great soup to fill you up and warm uou up for the cold season.

Nom nom nommmmmmm! Some delicious stuff here! Every now and again I have a craving for soup. Just hearty soup, especially when it’s stoopid cold outside. Decided to Unilocal soup while leaving another engagement and stumbled across this place. So glad we did! Just goodness in a bowl. Pure warm goodness. Flavorful. Colorful. Fresh. Just yum. I got the gumbo soup and the Hubs got Butternut squash. Both so delicious, we decided to get some to go. There were so many soup recipes to choose from, and also sandwiches to choose from. The place is not huge, it’s just right for it’s location in the Mt. Vernon area. You walk in walk up some steps you are greeted by some pretty friendly folks. You can place an order to go or order and go sit in the dining area they have available. The atmosphere is super casual. No place settings. Grab your own utensils, salt, pepper, water, etc if wanted. Seat yourself. And your food will be served to you when ready. Like I said the place is not that large but there is plenty seating. They do have a bathroom for each gender and there is street parking available. Go get some soup!!!

French onion soup is good and sandwiches and salads are great, though expensive. I’d like to echo the soup Nazi comment made by another reviewer. The owners are twins, so we might be dealing with a good twin, and a fucking evil one. I swear to god I got read to FILTH for asking for something on the side and for a sandwich that wasn’t prepared yet. Totally uncalled for at 11AM and I felt embarrassed! Soup’s On is like a jail soup kitchen with all the attitude from the evil step-sister twin owner, but I like it.

Been here a bunch of times since I go to school around the corner. The owner here is super nice(I think they are twins). He remembers the sandwich and soups I regularly get. It gives the place a friendly personal feeling. The restaurant is located in what seems like makeshift row home made into a kitchen/restaurant. It fits well in this hipster neighborhood. Thy have tables that were painted by MICA students which is pretty cool. My go to sandwich here is the pork banh mi. And my go to soup is the french onion soup. But whenever I try something new, it can’t go wrong! Every day they have a new menu that is posted online and on their chalk board in the store. They provide vegan sandwiches and soups for vegans out there. This is a great place that doesn’t make you feel crappy after you eat and if you’re trying to eat healthy, this place is the place to be. They have a frequent soup pint card. So don’t forget to ask for one if you usually purchase a pint. I on the other hand buy the $ 10 sandwich/soup combo! Love this place and continue to recommend this place to all my classmates at school.

Best soup in Baltimore! I have been to Soup’s On a couple of times on recommendation from a close friend and the quality has always been top notch. The brothers who run the joint are so awesome and continue to deliver some of the best food in the area. Mount Vernon is such a great neighborhood and this place, for sure, has to be a must-visit. The soup and sandwich combo is great and I cannot think of a better deal for what you would get elsewhere. I would for sure go with the crab soup! But maybe that’s because I always long for crabs as a Baltimore ex-pat living in shellfish-deprived Chicago. Absolutely make Soup’s On a destination. The service and food are so, so worthy of a visit.

Super simple, but well executed concept. I come in frequently for soup and a sandwich. It’s fast, it’s healthy, it’s affordable and delicious. I couldn’t ask for more.

Delicious chick pea and roasted tomato soup and chick salad with grapes and balsamic, with crostini and toasted sesame, poppy, and oatmeal. Comfy after-work Baltimore staple with knowledgeable owner who will explain what you need to know about their soups, salads, and sands. Definitely comfort food in a chill place.(Note: Proximate to this café are Shapiro’s, known for their falafel, and excellent OK Natural Foods health store.)

Genius food and great people to see. I’ve eaten a wide variety of food in my life but soup’s on has what is likely my favorite food ever on their menu, and it is their own recipe. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I had order the split pea soup months and months ago but I still can remember how disappointed and lacking in flavor the soup was. Might be good for someone on a diet and have a cold and can’t taste what there eating or drinking but the split pea soup was bland and not worth the $ 6 I had paid for it. I normally don’t leave low reviews but I remember when I had got mine to go and took it to class I wants to turn back around and return it. I’d try the soup before you leave the store just in case it not what you expected. Because I’ve read the other reviews I’m going to try this place again to see if I went on a off day

I went here with a few days ago with some friends for a quick dinner. It is a cute hole in the wall sandwich and soup place tucked away in the middle of Mount Vernon. Three of us got the sandwich with goat cheese and strawberry. Another one got the turkey sandwich and another one got the banh mi. The sandwiches are fresh, breads are nicely toasted, but they do lack certain flavor since they don’t use any sauces. Banh mi was especially bit disappointing since they don’t use any picked vegetables so lacked any flavor to it. The soups were decent but was a little watered down. The reason why I’m giving it three stars while giving the food rather mediocre review, is because the workers there were so laid back and friendly. Although the food wasn’t anything outstanding, our cashier came to check up on us, made conversation. The price is very reasonable as well — six dollars for a sandwich ten for a combo. Overall, it’s still a good place for a quick dinner.

Went in for lunch today and it was the perfect rainy day meal. I had the white bean soup with the roasted eggplant sandwich. So very good! My boyfriend ordered his all-time favorite soup, French onion and also got the pork and strawberry sandwich. We both happily devoured our food, which was fresh and delicious. The tables were beautifully painted and it was a nice quiet setting(we grabbed lunch at an off time). The staff was kind and helpful. Definitely looking forward to going back again.

Cream of Tomato w/mascarpone…I want to get into a vat of that soup. Paired with the tomato mozzarella sandwich or the portabella mushroom sandwich, ohmygaaaad SO good. It’s literally one of, if not my absolute favorite meals. I stick to that combo, pretty much always. My husband loves their crab soup and we usually get both sandwiches and split them

Customer friendly… energetic owner… delicious food… extremely healthy options. What is not to love about this fresh food? A $ 10 special includes a generous portion of soup and a hot or cold sandwich. Why is this place great? A cauliflower curry soup and a grilled portobello sandwich that were fantastic. Sandwich had about a cup of fresh arugula, portobello(of course), red pepper and a tasty melted cheese. The have both vegan and vegetarian options along with the meat. Neat location in an old brownstone near the University of Baltimore campus. Highly recommended!

I LOVE this place. Food is always fresh and tasty. I think I’ve had just about everything on the menu. When I turned vegetarian, I was happy to know I could still come and indulge in their vegetarian/vegan selections. #1 Prepare to wait sometimes(10 mins or so). Obviously it can be frustrating, but they’re busy for a reason! The food is worth the wait. #2 Always get salt on the side. The chef doesn’t salt the soups. I see in other reviews that this annoys people, but personally I like the freedom to adjust the salt level on my own. #3 The soup is BOILINGHOT. Be careful even after you’ve walked a few blocks back to your office and open it to have it burn your tongue. Patience my friend. Also, the hot temperature contributes to the«watery» texture; as it cools, it will thicken. #4 They have a «soup reward program» for their frozen pints of soup. Score! I think the only thing I would change would be their soup spoons… they’re kind of sharp and can occasionally cut the sides of your mouth if you’re not careful. Favorite meal: Tomato with Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella Garnished with Fresh Basil and Sundried Tomatoes and the House Salad on Organic Field Greens with Red Grapes, Toasted Walnuts & Goat Cheese in a Balsamic Vinaigrette

The service here is pretty awesome and so is the décor. The sandwiches are served on freshly baked bread and all the ingredients are fresh as well. I love the chicken tarragon salad, porn bahn mi and I adore the French onion soup.

I know I know I should wait to review after I’ve tried their titular product, but I’m just going to do it now and update it later. There are three things I hunt for in Baltimore, oysters, chinese food, and banh mi sandwiches. Here, I found one of maybe 3 banh mis I have ever found in Baltimore, and it was… alright. It was alright. I was missing the pâté, and I was missing the correct proportion in every bite. That being said, was it yummy? Yes. Was it the best banh mi I’ve ever had? Definitely not. The place is a little bit of a hole in the wall, which I like, and I saw in the kitchen that they really put a lot of effort in the food and really thought it through. So I guess A-OK says it all.

I came for lunch the other day after studying nearby at University of Baltimore. It was walking distance from the school so that was a big plus. The building itself is pretty interesting. Seems like it might have been a house at some point, but I think that just adds to the charm. The tables are hand-painted with the different soups and their ingredients. We went up to the little window to order and I believe the owner took our order. We told him it was our first time, so we gave us the run down. He said they make everything in-house(the broth, bread, etc). He also mentioned that he purposely doesn’t put a lot of salt in the soups so that customers can add to taste. He was really helpful and helped me decide what to get. They had soups(meat, vegetarian, or vegan) and sandwiches(hot or cold). They change up the menu everyday, but you can always check their website for the daily menu. The owner also mentioned they have free wi-fi, you just have to ask for the password. They had a $ 10 deal for a soup and sandwich, so I got the pork banh mi sandwich and leek and a potato soup. There was a 3.75% service charge if you paid by card, so you might want to bring cash. After we ordered we sat down and the owner brought our meals over to our table. The food was amazing! The pork banh mi was so good — tons of fresh cilantro and the pork was tasty. And the soup was great too! The owner recommended that I add Old Bay to the soup, and it was perfect. The soups also come with some bread with rosemary and poppy seeds. The portion size was good as I was stuffed after eating.
