The Fudgery

I look forward to going to the Fudgery everytime that I go to the Inner Harbor. We went there today after they should have been open. There was not a sign of anyone that works there. Someone finally showed up an 1 hour and a half late. I was told by someone in the surrounding stores that they come in late everyday. people that work there were more concerned with talking to each other instead of working. There was one person out of three that actually wanted to work. I selected the fudge and other items that I wanted and she went to ring me up. She started to ring me up and then asked me to hold on for a minute. She went in the back. Another person rung me up because she was still in the back.
The fudge is still good! However, I wouldn’t go early in the day because you never know what time they will open. Obviously, that is not a concern for the people in charge.

3.5-stars based on the business and fudge alone. 4-​stars due to the awesome gentleman working the shop on the day I was there (such wonderful energy, professionalism, friendliness, and spirit!).
Clean shop, awesome copper kettles, cool marble slabs, and quality fudge. Okay pricing for the area, and hearty chunks. The best I’ve ever had? Overall, no. But among the better, fo’ sho’!

New Orleans Praline (good…but super sweet for my palate)
Dark Chocolate (hands down some of the single best fudge I’ve ever had! Rich, creamy, tender, and a good hint of sea salt. DELISH!)
Chocolate Caramel (solid option)
Peanut Butter (tasty, though a bit grainy, and the only one that started to get stale within four days of purchase)
Definitely stop by, have a sample, and do yo’ thang!

Watch for semi entertainment demonstration how they make fudge into different shapes you on display. If you like sweet and fudge crazy here you go.

They freestyle sing songs, if there is a large crowd they ask for the crowd to participate and are friendly with passing potential customers. Sometimes they give out samples of their fresh in store made fudge. Your super sweet tooth will be satisfied here for sure. Located inside the harborplace.

A large variety of types of fudge! The best part was the experience. The people sing while making the fudge and are very entertaining!
I highly recommend that people stop by here!

I emailed the company after our horrible purchase from here. I got a very prompt response and an apology. I had to throw away half of the fudge we bought because it was inedible and I was told the company would mail out replacements. I was so happy that the company stood behind there product! Haha! I never received the replacement fudge in the mail as promised and when I emailed the woman who had been so fast to respond before I got no reply. I guess their corporate office is about as honest as their locations. So again: they gave us samples of fresh edible fudge and sent us home with rock hard pieces of break-​your-​teeth, 10 day old, wouldn’t feed to your worse enemy fudge!

IT’s a bit much when you buy a whole chuck so make sure you share! unless you really love fudge.
fudge was good, but pretty expensive. sometimes they offer deals like buy 2 get 1 free but they only offered that to my friends one of the times we were there.
i don’t know if i’d go back to buy, but i wouldn’t mind a sample haha

I love walking by here and listening to the employees sing, make fudge, and give out the fudge samples they just finished!

Show? Singing? We passed through the shops 3 times this past weekend and not once did we see any type of show. We weren’t even sure the place was open. There was no employee in site until we stood there for a few minutes. Once someone did come out he seemed miserable. Fudge was decent but expensive.

Great singing, great fudge, horrible prices. Don’t get trapped if you’re a tourist. Know the price BEFORE you pick. I saw a woman get a $ 30 bill because she got a «pound of this and a pound of that…»

The other reviews touch on pretty much everything I have to say. I love the singing, and the staff DOES have a great voice… this really held my son’s attention when we were at Harborplace this past Friday. He had a blast watching, and since he isn’t into sweets yet, Mama took that fudge right off his hands. The fudge isn’t the best but it definitely IS fresh, and others have nailed it: at $ 8 it’s pretty expensive but as others have outlined, there ARE deals depending on what you want to buy.
If you’re at Harborplace, don’t miss it, but if you’re a fudge fanatic, be prepared for solid flavor without anything to write home about.

Ok, I can make fudge. There’s really not much to it, but when I read about the various flavors of fudge that they offer at The Fudgery, I couldn’t resist.
I was expecting a storefront, but it was a little corner stand much like what one would find at a typical mall food court.
At about $ 8 per half lb, it’s some expensive fudge. We picked out two flavors to buy and were immediately offered one for free if we bought a third one. I took them up on their offer. We made out with peanut butter chocolate, pecan praline, oreo cookie, and chocolate caramel. I liked the pecan praline, but nothing beats good ol’ pralines from New Orleans. The chocolate caramel was the bf’s favorite.

Yum. Fudge. And the lady serving should go on American idle. She signs well.

This is a Harborplace staple. They have been singing and telling stories for years and has always been my favorite place to stop and get a smile put on my face while shopping at Harborplace.
The fudge is very good to go along with the dog and pony show that goes on while its made. It really gives you the feel of a old school chocolatier making the chocolate in a big copper cauldron and mixing and forming it on HUGE marble slabs.
If you want to have some free entertainment while you buy your fudge this is the place!

Full disclosure: We did not buy any fudge nor did we sample a significant amount. Quite honestly what we did taste, wasn’t anything to write home about.
That said, we did stop by and watch «the show.» It’s a very cheesy show where top 40 songs are re-​performed by the staff (who sing surprisingly well) to incorporate Fudgery and fudge-​related lyrics. If you can stomach the corny performance, you’ll be treated to a small sample of fudge.
But is this really why we came? To NOT buy fudge and eat a small mediocre sample?
No my friends. We came to see the humble beginnings of the greatest one-​hit wonder of Y2K.

I have to say I’m deeply disappointed they didn’t incorporate the «Thong Song» by their very own Sisqo into the show (seriously, look it up, THE Sisqo worked here). Perhaps we can start a petition and make it happen. Who’s in?

Its hard to aptly describe the awful experience I had with this fudge shop. I did call, email, and write to their corporate, but they were uninterested in consumer feedback.
YES, the sample fudge was good… too bad that it bore no resemblance to the product they sold me, The sample was fresh ans creamy — what ended up in my bag was hard and dry… I am guessing several days old,.
It was overpriced, and quite frankly BAD product. Save your money for local chains where you visit… this is one of those franchise’s that simply ruins something that used to be a treat.

I am trating the fudgery on the «show» — I never actually bought any fudge — but the free samples were good.
A group of about 4 workers pour the hot fudge onto a marble slab and sing while the cool and mold the fresh fudge. The «act» is every hour or so and very cute and kitschy.
I wonder when these (college-​aged) people interview for the job if they are auditioned for singing, too? The one guy was a great a-​capella singer — and sang the little fudge song, really well.

Surprised that this place got an average of 2 stars… The fudge here is fresh, in fact probably way fresh than the ones I got from another fudge place in Rehoboth Beach. Also, staff there are sweet and talented. Where can you find a place where they will sing motown for you when buy fudge?
4 stars for customer service, location and most excellent product. Minus 1 star for costing an arm and leg.

Lots of samples available: chocolate, dark chocolate w/​walnuts, cookies & cream, rocky road, vanilla, chocolate w/​caramel and nuts, New Orleans Praline, etc. I tried one of each (they’re really good if you ask). The New Orleans Praline was my fav. They were delicious when I tried them and so I ended up buying 4 and getting 2 free, a promotion they said they were having right now, but it’s likely an everyday promotion.
I’m docking them a star because they wrapped the fudge in paper and then stuck it all in a plastic bag. When I got home with them, the oil from the Praline had soaked through the paper and deformed. The rest of the other fudge pieces (cookies and cream, chocolate, rocky road, and dark chocolate w/​walnuts) were all very dried out and brittle. Not sure if $ 33 was the best way to spend it, but I enjoyed the fudge samples while I was watching the «show» (where they sing and get the crowd riled up) and hopefully, the fudge is still edible, if no longer great texturally.

Samples as you wait, and a story & a song as you watch them make their fudge. It’s a place with deals — buy 2 apples, get a piece of fudge, or buy 3 fudge, get one free, 4 fudge, two free, etc.
It does do a few other kinds of things, too.
I’ll give them three for effort, but I’m not fudge fan — if you like sweet fudge, this is the place for you (at about $ 8 a half-​pound or one piece).
