Staff were extremely friendly and helpful(which is why I gave them a 2 instead of a 1). Ample parking. The place was very clean! Lots of seating, well-lit, great for families with small children. Oddly…the sides were the best thing about this place. NOT impressed… tasted like something you would get at a food court from an old strip mall Ribs — mediocre and nothing memorable… only a few had a few drippings of sauce on the top ribs so, no sauce on the bottom ribs… boooo. Maybe I have been spoiled by all the BBQ restaurants opening in Toronto… 3⁄5 Cornbread — was very moist and«corny»! Not too greasy with jalapeño bits to give it a little kick! Edges were nice and crispy! 4⁄5 Mac n’ cheese — recommended by staff and did not disappoint! Was very cheesy and not mushy… wanted more! Homemade mac n’ cheese usually has a nice crispy breaded topping but this one did not. 4⁄5 Banana puddin’ — also recommended by staff and again, it did not disappoint! Almost like eating liquid banana with cream! 4⁄5 Nachos(which apparently is only available on certain days) — this was a disaster. Almost everything seemed off… barely touched it. The chips were too greasy and I think the oil was old which left a rancid aftertaste in my mouth. The chicken seemed a bit off too…(almost slimy??). They used processed cheese… and a LOT of it. If you like process cheese that comes in a jar, this is for you. 1⁄5

We were really surprised by the great BBQ in Maine of all places. I’m from Texas and the ribs were outstanding! Nice sides which change daily The service was also very good overall. The staff is very attentive to all their customers. I would recommend to anyone in the Bangor area The rib sandwich was great!

Oh, the deliciousness! A favorite lunch spot of mine. Moe’s menu is perfectly edited and I love how they have rotating specials and sides along with standard menu items. I have tried many different things at Moe’s and have enjoyed everything. Fresh and tasty is the way things are done here!

Went on Saturday for the brisket and it was moist with an excellent smoke ring. The Coleslaw and sweat potato corn sides complemented the brisket well.

Sad that the ribs were all gone, but it was Sunday night. Chicken wings were amazing! No sauce required. Daughters smoked tofu was a nice option. Mac n cheese would have been better hotter. Pulled pork was tender but could have more smokiness and some burnt ends. Would definitely try again!

Here’s a bulleted list of things about Moe’s: * Well-made BBQ that starts with great ingredients * A constantly rotating selection of high-quality sides(the baked beans and Brunswick Stew are tops) * A selection of local beers on tap * You can’t go wrong with either the classic or white BBQ sauce — both are great on everything. * Kids eat free * The«Redneck Nachos» are amazing — only served on Friday and Saturday though! Overall, Moe’s is a great place to grab a delicious meal with friend or family. We’ve also ordered their catering twice and found it to be timely, hot, and well-packaged for takout catering, with great portions and plenty of setup goods(plates, napkins, etc.).

Yay for Moe’s. Stopped here on the way to Bar Harbor and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of barbeque. We got the Ribs for 2(that came with grilled cornbread) and added a side of pulled pork, with sides of baked beans and slaw. Sides were great, and ribs were even better. My mom is not even a fan of ribs to begin with(she says that they sometimes be a little on the smelly side) but she managed to eat all 6 of her ribs! People talk about the pulled pork but we much preferred the ribs to the PP. Service was friendly and quick. Great place to stop by for some darn good bbq.

Pulled pork sandwich is always good. I normally get the mac and cheese as a side dish. The sides are very small, but the sandwich is a hardy size. The Owner works very hard and is normally on site. Service is fast and location is good for a quick lunch.

Came to Bangor for work and looked up somewhere to eat out of the ordinary and this came up. Have to say the food was amazing, couldn’t get enough of the black beans and rice, if the sides are that amazing that can give you an idea on the main courses.

Did not expect to find good bbq all the way up in the NE, but wow! This place definitely has it all down! Ordered the smoked turkey with baked beans and Mac and cheese.

This place is great! Been there 3 times so far. Had the Angus beef brisket platter twice and the pork shoulder platter. Always friendly.

We love Moe’s. We’re Southerners and so are authorized to attest to the awesomeness of Moe’s BBQ. I go with the smoked turkey platter, my hubby loves the Shrimp Moeboys. They have special meats offered on certain days. My favorite special is — well, I’d rather not say because the fine people at Moe’s only smoke but so much of their specialty meat and can and do run out of their daily specials! We often call ahead and our order is ready for us to pick up from the drivethru within 15 minutes or so. El cheapo drinks if you eat in — just $ 1 for fountain. Check out the t-shirts. Had to buy one myself.

I’d categorize this under the hidden gem file. When I’m in that part of the country next, I’ll be sure to time my gas fuel up with my belly fillers.

I’ve had really good, true Southern BBQ. I’m afraid this isn’t it. I had the pulled pork platter and although the meat was juicy, it was served cold. There was hardly any smoke flavor to it at all, and I’m not surprised as there are no smokers outside anywhere to be seen. They only have a house sauce, which isn’t very spicy. I’d appreciate a spicier sauce choice. I had coleslaw and beans for my sides. The beans tasted like B&M canned beans with the house sauce mixed in, I wasn’t a fan. The coleslaw was«marinated» in vinegar, also not a fan. The grilled cornbread was the one redeeming feature; very good, dense, flavorful. So, besides the meh food the pricing is way out of line. So much so that you can’t even buy a «full rack» if you wanted. A rib dinner comes with 4 ribs and two sides. Keep in mind the«sides» are served in 2-ounce plastic cups. For this you pay $ 12, and if you want 6 bones you pay $ 15. I could get a full rack at Ruby Tuesdays that would have more flavor and better sauce, and larger sides. I’ll also mention, as others have, that the owner noticed us taking a long time to order. He came out and asked us «if we had been there before», and when I said no, he launched into an explanation of the menu. I was polite and listened, but was completely put off by this. I had no problem understanding the menu. Perhaps«can I help you make a decision» would be a better offer.

Tried the ribs for two. Disappointed in the sides available. There should have been Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes as sides. Ribs were good but I’ve had better. They fell apart from the bone but weren’t covered in any sort of sauce. You are given a bottle of a somewhat spicy sauce to add if you wish which is a nice option. We got the bag of chips and the grits. The chips are Lays classic and the grits were creamy but contained peppers which neither my boyfriend or I like so didn’t eat. The cornbread also contained peppers so we ate some of it but threw most away. Paper towels are at the tables which is nice. Overall, it was a decent meal but have definitely experienced better. We were also under the impression it was a sitdown restaurant as opposed to a fast food joint.

DAMN! Awesome surprise off 95. My friend and I were leaving Bar Harbor and were starving but sick of paying top dollar for small sized meals in the resort town. I found this place on Unilocal and so glad I did. The building looks like it used to be an old Wendy’s maybe– but it’s really fun/nice on the inside. Clean and lots of seating. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Both fast, friendly service and good quality food. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese on the side and cole slaw– which had no mayo and bangin flavor. Highly recommend! It’s a chain and has other locations in the south!

Moe’s Original Bar B Que — Bangor, ME — 7÷22÷2015 Although generally I don’t care for chains unless they are high-end fine dining chains, every once in a while I «deviate from policy»… And boy am I glad I did… Not much to look at on the outside and very typical«barbecue» décor inside with high tops and stools. Where they absolutely knock it out of the park is in their employees. I don’t think you will find a nicer group of people that obviously work extremely well together. The cashier Logan will just amaze you with her bubbly personality! The other two guys working the kitchen were extremely friendly as well. Some of the most friendly people I have met in my life on the road… First Logan asks if you have ever been there before. Next she goes over the menu and tells you the different combinations and very personally gives you her recommendations. Just imagine your daughter working at a BBQ place and that’s her… I had the large Ribs Platter. Comes with six Pork Ribs and two sides. There are many choices and they all look good. I had the Smoked Chicken Chili and the Baked Beans. For only $ 3.00 you can«ADDMOE» which gives you an additional three ounces of meats. Once again, there are plenty of choices. It comes with a slice of toasted Corn Bread which also was quite good. Looks like they have four Draft Beers on tap and lots of sodas…, fountain and canned. By the amount of people that came and went as I savored my BBQ it appears that they do quite the business. The phone rang off the hook with take out orders and they have a drive thru to make things even more convenient. A «well oiled machine» from what I can see. Looking for a great place to come for really good BBQ with a friendly staff to mach??? Look no further… This is your place… I loved it and next time i’m in the area… «I’ll be back for MOE»…

Why this place had been kept a secret from me by my friends has caused me to reevaluate all of my friendships and put them all on probation. The pulled pork. THEPULLEDPORK!!! Living in the south, I know me some pulled pork. And the pulled pork at Moe’s Barbecue is outstanding. Moist, delicious, flavorful, and not too saucy. The coleslaw is vinegar-based, not mayonnaise-based and has a zippy tang. The mashed potato casserole wasn’t my favorite, as it has green beans in it, as well as cheese and onions, but I felt could’ve had more flavor. The cornbread is cooked and then grilled, and was very good.(Warning: The cornbread does have tiny pieces of jalapeño in it, but they are miniscule.) According to my friend, their mac & cheese is delicious, as well as their wings. But seriously, GETTHEPULLEDPORK!
