Never ever ever again will I stay here. Purchased a VIP room for $ 275 +taxes and fees and got 0 benefits from it. No play $$, no fast check in. Nothing. Waited over an hour to check in after being rudely told I’m in the wrong line. After FINALLY getting to the counter, The front desk staff was VERY rude, including the supervisor, who was the only person of higher level of management to talk to. I had purchased a room w 2 beds(3 ppl in the room) one of which had to sleep on the couch, due to their mistake. He didn’t give a crap that they put us in the wrong room. Pretty much said who cares about my issues. Then, every staff member was clueless. Every employee we asked where the hotel manager was, didn’t know. Seems bizarre that a hotel of this size wouldn’t have a manager. They Couldn’t even tell us what time bingo started. Buffet was $ 30 per person and before we could tell her we wanted to pass due to the price, she was already in the process of swiping my card. The rooms were dirty. There were cup rings on the table. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Don’t waste any more of your $$ to stay here. You’ll lose it really fast on the tight slots!!!

We frequent The Dells and on a whim decided to go to Ho Chunk the day after Christmas. Thinking maybe we would start a tradition. Holy Cow this place is horrible. I mean I know it’s a casino and I wasn’t expecting it to have real impeccable high standards. But, it’s definitely a bottom dweller in it’s industry. Had I read the reviews I would not have succumb to the impulse of walking through the door. For starters the smoke. Oh my goodness the SMOKE. We asked about the non-smoking section and we were directed there. Well it’s a joke. The non smoking area reeked of smoke just like the rest of the place. Next, the slots just were not appealing. I didn’t see any signs that labeled the payback percentage(something I commonly see in Vegas). Very few progressive jackpot machines. The machines just gave me the feel of the slot machines you see in the corner of sleazy gas stations. And the machines were over the top TIGHT. Bet after bet after bet after bet… Little to NOTHING. It’s not fun when all you do is lose, lose, lose. Little to no fluctuation. Just take take take. I was not expecting to get rich but I was expecting my limit to last for a while. Like more than 15 minutes. All in all my group was there for about 1 hour. During that time we did not see one machine in a sea of hundreds of machines payout anything significant. What I saw a lot of was people hitting spin, spin, spin and the credits going down, down, down while they looked bewildered and frustrated. We will never be back.

Very disappointed, we specifically reserved a room near the elevator for my terminally ill Mother and paid extra for it — when we arrived we were told that there were no rooms near the elevators. The PREMIUMLUXURY room that we had was a joke! The bed linens looked like they had been sitting in a dryer for a week — totally a wrinkled mess(I know that is petty but it was icing on the cake). The beds were hard as a rock with cheap thin pillows on the bed. The entertainment center was missing doors and they maybe had 4 working cable stations. The«ample» tub is just a regular tub. I travel frequently and have stayed at MUCH nicer for far less. Don’t waste your money!

First time staying here, and it’s just awful. The service from the front desk, just… rude. We had reservations, and as we arrived, they gave our room away – and it was a really good room that was gone from us. What the lady(Latina) said something between these line: «sorry, but you guys came late and I can’t keep the reservations for a tardy. But we have another room available, besides that. Our hotel is booked, there are no openings at all». Really? The whole hotel is full, yet people are coming in(without reservations) and getting rooms. Like are you trying to lose business, or make business? Now we got a «different room», kinda, it’s an available room next to the room that we were at. Lmfao. But this room is bigger and spacier, because it’s in a corner. – Cons of this room: there were food crumbs on the phone, the bible had smudges of, IDK, but it was crusty and slimy. In the drawer, there was a hair, but not just any hair-pubic hair. There was dust, everywhere, especially on the headboard of the bed, and the remote for the tv was as well as crusty like the bible. The Windows, well you can see smudges, and it’s eww. The bathroom looked great, till I lifted the toilet seat, there was smudges of pee(you know, when a guy misses) just all over. Not cool! If you want business, keep the place clean.

First off the check in was fast and easy, they even let us check in early. The room itself was alright. Not as luxury as I was hoping buts it’s just the dells so keep that in mind. There were a few spots in the room that I wish were a bit cleaner; for example behind the sink on the wet bar there was something splashed on the wall. There was a towel under the desk chair and when I picked up the towel there was a brown stain from something on the foot of the chair. One of the times that the home keeping service came to the door they walked in unannounced. We were laying in bed and heard a knock on the door, 2 seconds later someone walked in. Let’s just say it was a good thing he couldn’t see us from the door. The buffet is pretty good but again there is a cleanliness factor in the dining room. They offer a lot of good and the breakfast was the best in my opinion. The za wha zha bar doesn’t stock that much so they might not have what you want. The bartenders didn’t pay much attention to the bar, we had to wait to even be acknowledged and our empty glasses sat for awhile. It’s a good place to go if your just gambling and need a room for the night. But I wouldn’t recommend it for much more than that.

This review is for the buffet and gambling area. I did not see the hotel part. Gaming area is very smoky, with smoke ooze on some of the machines. They were gross! I didn’t stay and see the other gambling since I was so turned off by the nastiness of the first few rows of machines. The«cash advance» machine next to the gambling area told me enough to know that this is not a fun place. Family came and wanted to go to the buffet, so I went along. Bad idea. It was Wednesday, so they had seafood night for ~$ 23/pp. By «seafood» they mean steamed snow crab legs and sort of clarified butter. The crab was ok, but under seasoned. They also had mass produced frozen and reheated salmon«steaks». They didn’t really reheat then so they were still frozen in the middle. Everything else was significantly overcooked. The pasta was so overcooked it turned to mush, and the vegetables were more of an unfiltered vegetable broth due to overcooking. Desserts were straight from the freezer. I doubt they made and of them in house. Blah! Anywhere else is better. Yuck!

This casino has a Kid’s Quest but no where to change a diaper. Horrible! Not one bathroom had a changing table. When my husband asked if there were any promotions for signing up for a player’s card, he was told no it’s the off season. I’ve never been to a casino that didn’t offer at least a hat or $ 5 casino play. We did not win any money on the slots either. Waste of money!

So the first time I was there(off season) I loved it! This most recent trip was pretty terrible. Maybe it was all the kids and no enforcement of some parts of the hotel being«adult only» at certain times or maybe not but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. I was so excited to go to the large hot tub they have at 10PM when it is adult swim time until midnight but was splashed by kids kicking and screaming up until we left near 11. In addition, this time we tried the buffet which is usually $ 12 but we went on a saturday and they served prime rib and it was $ 30! for $ 12 the buffet would have just been ok, but for $ 30…noooo. very dated, carpeted, no windows, and the sauces/liquids had like a film on the top of them. what i did eat was good but i didnt feel like getting adventurous, also our server was great the room itself was just okay, we only had about 8 channels that worked, 3 of which were non-local: comedy central, TBS, and one other i am forgetting. room service did a pretty lousy clean up job in terms of not putting pillows back on the bed or leaving towels for us. oh and grossest thing was when i was showering after a minute or 2 i look around the shower and on a fold of the curtain is head to toe big black MOLD it was so gross! clearly noone is cleaning those liners… did not shower in our room bathroom again our first stay was great this one was pretty bad… inconsistent, unsure if i will return.

This place was absolutely horrible. The food was gross, all the dishes were less than half full and looked like it was sitting out for hours upon our arrival. The staff was pretty racist, they had us sit in the corner at a dirty table even tho we requested a booth, they kept implying that those other tables were«reserved». What a pos place.

For the price of the room, overall not satisfied. At check in we were told the pool was out of service. I asked what was wrong and when it would reopen and got a look as dumb as the answer. The room itself was ok until you turned on the flat screen and learned that the remote was not programed for the TV and apparently they must be using one of those old roof mounted antennas because most of the channels had snow and the ones that were not were probably not HD. Probably much better choices when visiting Wisconsin Dells. I should have used Unilocal

the family came to the dells for 3.5 days. when told that ho-chunk buffet was only a 15 min drive and dinner was only $ 12.99, we decided to give it a go on a saturday. it wasn’t busy which is good. the main entrance where the escalators were was set up really nice. makes you feel like you’re outdoors. when we got to the buffet area, we were told it was $ 30 given it was prime rib night. we went to read the sign which stated dinner is $ 12.99 and prime rib(saturday) is $ 30. i can see the confusion there. maybe re-do the sign to have it say dinner — $ 12.99 from monday through friday only? mind you there are 17 of us so that would be a $ 500 bill just for buffet and only 5 – 7 would be eating the prime rib. we told the guy at the register that we wouldn’t be joining since it would be $ 30 pp. he asked where we were from and we told him from out of state. we started scrambling to find another place to go eat. we even asked others in the group to see if they wanted to go apply for ho-chunk’s rewards card so that we can get $ 5 off our meal for each individual person. my brother decided to go ask the guy at the register to see if he can discount each person $ 5 without having to go apply for the rewards card IF we decide to stay which he said yes! so we stayed to eat. my wife and i thought the food was on point and very flavorful. they may not have the biggest selection but everything was delicious! my wife said this was the best casino food she’s ever eaten. not just that but the dessert selection was huge. we definitely recommend coming here.

We had a great time here! We spent what we planned to. It is a lot nicer than Black River Falls(less smoky too). The rooms(at least the suite) are very nice. The grill was the only option for a 6AM breakfast today. We didn’t pre order room service. I wish they had digital blackjack though. They did have a digital roulette but the only seats available were out of service.

Seriously one of the worst most depressing casinos I’ve been in. Rude staff and no automatic shufflers. They stop serving at 1:30 so don’t get there after that. Also getting a shuttle is amazingly difficult and they only take you to a few select locations. The place is also filthy and filled with smoke.

Terrible. This is one of the absolute worst casinos I have ever been to. For starters at one point in the night I placed my beer down for about one minute when some random ho chunk worker came and picked it up. I had my back turned for no more than 10 seconds when he had taken it after I had paid over six dollars for this overpriced spotted cow. The bartender told me that it was MY responsibility to find the worker in order for me to be compensated for that beer. What!!! Are you serious? This place clearly is tailored toward ripping their customers off. This is the worst casino I have ever been to in my life… and I have been to both Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and I can’t express to you how awful this casino is in terms of payout AND customer service. I hate Ho Chunk for their awful service. This place is terrible not only for the customer service, but also for the gaming. I will absolutely never come back to this place ever again, and highly suggest you look to better places. Potawatomi casino in Milwaukee is wayyyy better by the way if you are looking for better options in Wisconsin.

Ho-Chunk is an OK option for gambling. They are far from Vegas however. Of course no one can out do the good olé’ Sin City. I was actually shocked at how small the casino was. I was expecting the facility to be much bigger than what it was. They need to replace many of their slots which are super old. Also, table games needs to have automatic shufflers instead of having the dealer to shuffle. it takes too long! As a Black Jack junkie, I would appreciate more $ 5 black jack tables. For the 2 hours I was there, there was only 1 $ 5 black jack table and of course, it was always full. That being said, I only lost $ 10 the entire night!

This place blows. They took a HOCHUNK of my money! Can’t even have a little fun… sucked. Also, I am a smoker and the amount of smoke in the casino is terrible. They need a better ventilation system. I didn’t even want to smoke while we were there it was so bad. Slot areas are dirty with overfilled ashtrays and half cups of soda and garbage. We never ever win here. Not even $ 20! This is my last time donating to the HC Nation.

Girlfriend and I are new to casinos so we went to the guest services desk for some help/location of bar/etc. Woman was rude and dismissive. At the bar we experienced the same thing — bartender didn’t acknowledge our existence and was then rude when we asked for the prices of a few drinks. Will never be back. Lose your money elsewhere.

I put $ 75 in a slot machine and walked away with $ 0.34. This place sucks. — joking aside, it’s a typical casino. Decent variety of tables and slots. Nothing special, but an okay casino. Only complaint is the smoke and lack of a decent non-smoking area. As smoking in public buildings is now outlawed… the pain of walking in to a smoke-filled casino is more annoying than in the past. (Clearly I’m a non-smoker, so this review is biased. But non-smokers don’t buy cigarettes and thus have more money to gamble.)

Hit me! If I say I want to try the Standrock Buffett again. We went to Ho-Chunk for a concert and wanted to eat beforehand. Steakhouse needed reservations, café was closed on a Saturday night! And the sports bar had a nasty bar food Buffett. So we stood in line for the Standrock Buffett. It was prime rib and crab night and $ 21 a person. Nasty! Table was dirty, booth seats all ripped up. The food was cold were it should be hot and warm were it should be cold. The prime rib was so rare I thought it was mooing on my plate. Spare your intestinal track the horror and eat before you go to Ho-Chunk.

Buffet line is ridiculous. Stood in line for 2 hours and they said it was going to be anothe couple of hours. Bummed I couldn’t try it. Went to the restaurant nearby, it’s alright. Decent simple sandwiches and salads. Dealers are nice, lots of table options(no pai gow), and I saw tables with $ 5 minimums. You can smoke cigarettes at the tables but no chew and no cigars, what gives?!
