On our first visit to Barre, we stopped here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. It was pretty quiet inside with only a handful of customers. The service was nice and friendly, but it was the food that really disappointed us. — Vermont burger with fries: specials board item and recommended by server lady. Came with a 6-ounce beef patty, lettuce, tomato, and onions on a sesame seeds bun. The fries were a major letdown because they were limp and soggy. None of us came even close to finishing the fries in the end. The bun was cool as if it came straight out of a cool room, and it was too thick and bread-y. Bacon could have used more crispness, and the patty was overcooked(requested medium but served well done). 2.5÷5 — Fish and chips: fish was hot and tender, but again, the fries were disastrous. Our consensus was that it may have been old cooking oil, and it was evident in the dark colours on the fries as well as the fish. Still, the fish was the only saving grace on this visit. 3.5÷5 — Grilled chicken and bacon wrap with fries: since this was also off the day’s specials board, I was hoping for something unique and enjoyable. What I got was a run-of-the-mill chicken wrap with the same limp and soggy fries on the side. 2⁄5 All in all, those fries should never have left the kitchen, and the front of house staff should have stopped them from being served otherwise. It’s safe to say that we wouldn’t mind not going back, but I wish them well.

The Quarry is under new ownership and it really is being taken up a notch. If you have not been to The Quarry in a few months, check it out again. New owners, some staff updates and I hear some really exciting changes are coming soon!

Great lunch spot and what looks like a great dinner location. Nice seating area and tvs all around for the sports enthusiasts. Great beer specials during the week. I ordered the chowder and a pulled pork sandwich. Both were great and the service was great as well. Keep change on you to park on the street, since it’s mostly meter parking.

Obviously a real neighborhood watering hole, yet as total strangers wandering in off the street we were made to feel like regulars. Hostess greeted us right away — unlike the other two places in town we had tried before this one — so they immediately had our hearts — as well as stomachs. We sat at the bar. I had the quesadilla with«candied jalapenos.» Don’t let«candied» scare you; they’re just slightly sweet. Just the right amounts of both jalapenos and cheese to my taste. My husband had the Reuben and I can say the sweet potato fries were great — we ate every last one; too often, French fries start out soggy and end up inedible by your meal’s end; and/or there are lots of little burnt bits you don’t want. None of the above here.

Waited over 45 minutes for our drinks. We’re just about ready to walk out and told the waitress. She blamed it on the bartender who had disappeared. And– we were the only ones in the place! Ended up waiting — they brought out the appetizers with our meal. Luckily, the food was pretty good. We really enjoyed our burgers.

Decent pub food and beer selection. Needs non-fried appetizer offerings. Antipasto was kind of weird. Good place to watch sports and is open Sunday

We went there on July 4th. We were seated right away but then they kind of forgot about us. They brought us bread to make us feel better and it worked! We had an appetizer of mozzarella sticks and there were a lot of them and they were delicious! The Buffalo Chicken Wrap was really good and very spicy. It came with a generous side of delicious fries. My son had the Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich on a pretzel roll. He loved it and it was huge! Also came with fries! They had a great selection of beer too! If I lived here I would make this a regular spot!

The food is decent, but a little overpriced for what it is. Service is terrible; on my second visit, there were almost no other customers when I arrived, yet it took over a half hour to get a burger and fries. It might be an OK place if you’re in no hurry, but it’s not a good choice when on a lunch break from work.

Trip home to NY from Montréal my bro and I decided to stop and grab a quick bite. The food waa goooodd. I hate an 8oz burger(MMMM) and my bro had the chiptole wings(also mmmm). My waitress Molly was very nice and attentive to our needs. With my burger came fries, but sonce I dont eat fried food Molly suggested a salad. When the check came little did I know there was an extra charge for the salad, not cool I shouldve been told it was an extra charge.

The food is quite good, but unfortunately the poor service and ill-planned space do not have me rushing to get back. The only customers that the waitresses are interested in keeping happy are the ones that are spending $ 150+. I hereby apologize for my crappy $ 35 meal. Oh and ITISSOFREAKINGLOUDINTHERE.

I don’t usually write reviews, but after our last visit to the Quarry Grill, I felt compelled. We had eaten there 2 or 3 times before and were generally pleased. It has a quiet, pleasant atmosphere and the food was pretty good. I agree with the reviewer who says that they are improving. On this occasion, there were 4 of us, and we all spent much of our meal time raving how good our food was. The menu selection has improved since we were there last, the portions are larger(2 of us needed doggie bags), and the prices were very reasonable. I love capers, so I ordered the lemon chicken with capers special expecting a spattering of capers. To my surprise it came covered with them. Absolutely yummy! Finally; our waitress, Faith, was genuinely friendly, very pleasant, and efficient. Can’t wait to go back.

Very pleased to have stopped here 2÷10÷13 completely by chance! Sat at the nice clean bar for lunch, I had the veggie wrap which was very tasty and very hot when served(that’s rare these days). A friend had a cheeseburger that he devoured in no time, and his stepson had the BLT w/onion rings. We were all pleased with our meals and the gorgeous bartender was friendly and attentive. I don’t get to Barre often, but I know where I’ll be eating next time I’m there~

Tried it again. The«chef» salad I ordered did not include the hard boiled egg, that the menu stated, and the chopped sliced deli cheese on it had MOLD.

I am giving it 5 stars because my 2 different experiences(lunch & dinner) were great. My boyfriend loved the game tv’s to watch the games and the Vermont Brew Beers on tap — nice touch! I liked the menu and atmosphere. I had an amazing homemade soup and sandwich the first time for lunch. Our dinner there this month was awesome, Bacon Wrapped Scallops and Baked Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Peppers for appetizers then the prime rib and my ravioli’s did not disappoint! — We will be back again!

Visited again and it continues to improve, but also continues to be just missing the mark. The interior looks really great — they did a nice job with that, and the beer menu continues to impress. For appetizers, we tried the cheesy fries with bacon and some buffalo wings. the wings were better than the last time I had them, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was spicy and buttery. The cheese fries were good — especially the fries, and the super crispy bacon. The cheese sauce was basically cheese wiz — which isn’t bad, but it would be easy to elevate it with a few chopped chives for a fresh bite, and the fries could have used some salt. We both had burgers, and once again the fries were excellent, as were my onion rings. Both burgers tasted good, but were cooked past the medium that we asked for — my wife’s more than mine. If the burger had been cooked properly, it would have been a much better meal. Another stumbling point was the time it takes for the food to come out — it took a very long time for our appetizers to come out. The service is good however — I think it continues to be an issue of timing with the kitchen.

Heading back to VT from our road trip to Boston with my GF left us a little bit hungry. We already had gotten off two exits before hand and failed in our attempt to find food to eat. But like they say the 3rd time is the charm and the Quarry Grill did not disappoint. My gf and I both got the Quarry Burger, she got the smaller 5 oz pattie and i got the 8 oz pattie burger. Oh my god the cheese that was melted on top of it, i think it was Swiss was so divine it really made the burger that much more flavorful and i added some strips of bacon as well. Also whatever bread roll they used just added to the juicy succulent joy of mine. Also the homemade fries were amazing as well, my gf seemed to enjoy every bit of her meal as well. Our server was nice girl, beautiful and very professional and was quick with every order. Also the Lemonade their is so damn lip smacking good, if they sold it in stores i’d be the first in line to buy it. Nice, small friendly environment and I would love to eat here again.
