This place was great! Great selection of beer on tap. Menu had a Good selection. I ordered the Pub Burger and onion rings, both cooked to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the crab cakes and was not disappointed. The only downfall, parking. We had to park on the street and walk a bit. It won’t keep me from coming back though

Lovely place to have lunch… We stopped on our way to Canada and we enjoyed the food. I had the Ban-mi burger with fries and onion rings… Yum yum and nice spicy meat … My friend enjoyed his fish and chips too… Staff was friendly and the bar is nice and clean

Excellent craft burgers, good atmosphere. The maple Mac n Cheese is the best on the menu.

Cornerstone offers good food and a solid beer selection. They usually have 15 – 20 beers on tap, many of which are microbrews. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the barely edible Caesar dressing I’ve had on my side salads. All other food has been quite satisfying! Will return again and again.

My girlfriend and I went to Cornerstone on the night before Valentine’s Day. There was a long wait for a table but we were happy to wait because the reviews for this place were so good(and only a few other places in the area were open at the time). When we got there the host was extremely friendly and welcoming. He told us it would be about a 45 minute wait, not ideal but tolerable. As we sat there and waited, we noticed as people with reservations came in the host seemed to know many of them by their first name and shaking hands/hugging without any prompting, which made it seem like a pretty friendly place. Finally when we got our table, they were a little slow to take our drink order but we figured they were busy so no big deal. The waitress was nice and did a good job explaining the menu and some of the specials. I got a turkey burger with avocado and cranberry apple chutney and my girlfriend got vegetarian pesto pasta. We both really enjoyed our food very much. I got a Valor Red Ale and she got Citizens Cider, both of which were really good. Overall we really liked Cornerstone Pub. As I said, we really liked the welcoming atmosphere and the food/drinks. Our only complaints were the service was a little slow but understood because of how busy the restaurant was. Another small drawback were the prices. I think it was a little expensive but definitely not too bad.

Legit. In a word. The food and brew selection isn’t overwhelming but hits on all the essentials. «Farm to table» like without feeling underfed. For those of you looking for the best local brews you’d be hard pressed to find anything much better, Waterbury and Burlington included. Barre certainly does now have a «cornerstone» to build on both socially and culinarily

I love this place! I got the black bean/quinoa burger which is completely out of my wheelhouse, but I felt like something different! It was great! Comes with coleslaw and tomato with sprouts. Sub’d sweet fries instead of regular fries and they are delish. Crispy just the way I like them. All of the employees rock this place. Great service!

Wow! Delicious food! Everything on the menu tempted me. Hope to get back sometime to try a duck burger, fried chicken sandwich, or some specials. But the Bahn Mi pork burger I had was tasty with the right mix of flavors from hoisin, siracha mayo, and daikon slaw. My oldest had a good turkey burger w cranberry chutney. My husband’s haddock in his fish and chips was 12″ long and extremely flaky, not greasy at all. The prize was my other two who got bbq pizzas with andouille, pork shank, and bacon that were to die for! Thank goodness they let me taste it. The wait staff was friendly and though a pub too it was comfortable, modern, and family friendly for older kids. Oh and she my son asked for honey mustard for his salad, I’m sure that it wasn’t a regular item but the chef made it for him.

Seems like one of the only options around here. Restaurant is large and located on the corner. Lots of beer options and several tasty looking lunch specials. They were able to accomodate adding grilled chicken to my salad which was yummy with frwsh beets. Although it could have had a bit more local goat cheese throughout. Decent find.

Very good food, very cool vibe. Prices are a solid $ 5 too high on most menu items, however

Ate there on a Thursday evening, party of four. The good: My brother’s duck burger was excellent, my husband’s fish and chips was very good(fries excellent) and massive portion, my sister’s salad was delicious. My scallops were delectable. Scallops cooked perfectly, with a nice browning outside and buttery tender inside, on a bed of light citrusy risotto. Cooking scallops perfectly must not be easy, because it doesn’t happen often. I’d go again just for that. The rest: Our waitress was a little brusque but competent. My first glass of water smelled faintly of bleach, and we did have to ask several times to get a replacement. It was busy, but still. The replacement was fine, no off smells or tastes. Noise levels not bad. Plenty of elbow room between tables. Nice woodsy pub décor.

For the price of the meal, you would think this would be a better place to eat, but sadly I have been here 3 times and have been deeply disappointed upon each visit. First of all, the set up leaves a lot to be desired. It is extremely loud and conversations are almost impossible and the seating puts you close enough to other tables where waitresses have to squeeze by every few minutes. While the staff is friendly, service is very slow and often times you have a different person tending to you because your server is nowhere to be found. It once took 25 minutes to get a refill only to be given the wrong drink… As for the food, I wouldn’t call it fabulous. The prices are high enough where I certainly wouldn’t call it worth it and I have yet to be impressed by any meal I was served. Many times my food has actually been served to me cold and had to be sent back to be reheated. The portions on anything other than burgers are very small and we were even once told we couldn’t have bacon on a certain burger because their chef at the time«didn’t do that at lunch time» Overall, I avoid this place as much as possible. It might look nice, but that’s about all it has going for it.

This lovely restaurant is a welcome addition to little Barre, where some of the restaurants have just been around too long and aren’t that good. I really enjoyed my lunch, and the others who dined with me said their lunches were excellent also. Burgers, sandwiches and fish tacos all satisfied. The interior is welcoming and interesting, with local references in the artwork, and the service was friendly and efficient. Well done!

It’s so rare(ha! Burger pun.) That we get a bad dish here. The wait staff is always professional and nice. The food is high quality American pub fare. The Mac and cheese is always devine. The burgers are perfect, the other dishes… Wait! There are other dishes? My only complaint is the onion soup is too sweet. French onion should be beefy and savory, baked under a broiler with crusty cheese. The excuse of a «sweet onion» soup that is easier to assemble is horrible. A good french onion soup says worlds about the beef used and the talent of the soup maker. The chowder is always great ;)

Amazing. I’ve never had anything disappointing here. Fish n chips(best tartar sauce ever!), calamari, swordfish tacos, salads, pork burgers — all are great. I highly recommend visiting on a Tuesday night when you can get $ 5 house or black bean burgers(my favorite) along w their hand cut fries. Citizen Cider on tap sweetens the deal, along with a long list of draft beers. The desert jars made by the local culinary program are delectable as well.

This is a great upscale pub environment. Lots of craft beers from various venues in Vermont and throughout. Solid selection. Nicely thought out menu of comfort based pub food. The burgers are flavorful and reasonably priced. The poutine was decent… nice scratch gravy that wasn’t too heavy. The swordfish tacos were decent. I’d like them to try the same with ahi tuna… I think it would be a hit. I’ve tried their salmon entre… it was well portioned and flavorful. A couple minor downsides… it can be loud on a weekend evening… and equally. I found them a bit understaffed… so my waiter was a bit overstretched on one occasion. Overall…very good value for the food… and an eclectic pub style menu. I’d recommend. 4 stars

As far as I’m concerned, you can’t beat good pub food, and this is excellent. A terrific selection of comfort food dishes, ranging from burgers to pizza and even mac & cheese. Reasonably priced with a terrific bar and beer selection. Ate there for two meals on the same day. It was that good.

Truly stellar burgers in a bright, airy, casual gastro-tavern venue. Lovely charred goodness with a juicy, well-packed patty, nice sharp cheddar, and a toasted brioche bun. The fries were quite good as well, hand cut with the skins on and perfectly-salted. Service was quick and friendly, and the prices were not out of line with any of the other taverns we’ve come across in our years roaming around Vermont. Big difference was that this place delivers a solidly good meal. Even the ice tea was above average … so happy to have had other Unilocalers recommend this place — and will be very happy to come back again…

This place was so good we ate here twice in one day! It’s on the corner and looks deceptively small, but once inside the place is large. Two separate dining rooms, one with the bar. It’s Decorated nicely and has a well appointed bar. Good wine and beer list and specials at lunch and dinner. Try a beer flight. For lunch I had a mozzarella tomato panini and the soup of the day, carrot ginger. They were both perfect, the soup being outstanding! For dinner I had the BBQ braised pork shanks with greens and the jalapeño Mac and cheese. Oh my god it was good. It was a huge serving that could have been shared by two. It didn’t help that we also ordered the onion rings and the truffle fries as an appetizer! I was stuffed. Great service also is the reason this place deserves a five star rating.
