I remember the Lakeland location, I will drive to either bartow, or winter haven location for good food and great service. I love how both chef rod and his waitress Summer were very attentive and did not let our drinks go dry. I can’t wait to see this business thrive breakfast any time of day or lunch at 7 am

Pappy’s in Winter Haven is a fairly regular destination for us, so we figured, «Why not try Pappy’s in Bartow?» Word of warning: When you turn into the airport, be prepared to drive ALL the way to the back to the far side of the airport. Look for the huge«RESTAURANT» signs and follow them. At first, we questioned if we were in the right place, but Pappy’s is back there and worth the trip. The menu in Bartow is the same as it is in Winter Haven. The eggs are made to order and the pancakes are HUGE! Hubby got a pulled pork sandwich with french fries and they were very good. The prices are on par for diner food with your choice of breakfast, lunch items and combo’s. No chairs were set up at the outside tables and when we asked if we could sit out there(with a view of the runway) the waitress hustled everything into shape for us right away. The service was good, with the waitress checking in every few minutes. Pappy’s is good… Pappy’s times 2? Pretty terrific! You have your choice of locations and it’s good to know the food and service is spot on at the newer place in Bartow.

While I’m thrilled that there is a restaurant in the airport again, Pappy’s has a ways to go on service and quality. Another boon for this location is that you can get breakfast or lunch options all day. Hamburger at 7 a.m. Grits at 1 p.m. No problem. The tarmack view is wonderful and there is outside seating for nice days. We were one of two tables at 11:00 with 2 waitresses. got our drinks right away but has to wait a while for our meals. They arrived looking delicious. I enjoyed«Jason’s Cuban», a twist on a Cuban – honey mustard and jalapenos. The turkey and avocado looked delicious. Two loved the sweet potato fries. The breakfasts(2 got«Grandma’s Usual») looked sorta blah but eggs were cooked to order. Toast was underdone and thickly coated in(solid) margarine. Lemon for the water or tea came in a packet. Waitresses did a lousy job of keeping drink glasses filled and were not easy to catch. Wouldn’t have been a bad first experience if 3 of 5 of us were not«ill» all afternoon, beginning about 30 minutes after eating… they need to resolve whatever issue that is before I return. Sorry TMI but eater beware!

I’ve enjoyed another outstanding meal from Chef Rod and staff of his new restaurant that we all have been waiting for. Sausage, Bacon Gravy and biscuits were first and were outstanding. I got the 2 eggs on the side Sunny-up and were perfect. Done on top and no browning on the bottom. Next was the Blueberry Pancakes. Very very large fluffy pancake with blueberries every inch. Also added a side of Bacon. Only two strips but large strips of thick bacon done crisp as it should be. I will be back and soon.
