Ruby Tuesday

Another chain restaurant that serves big burgers for a decent price. Nothing really sets these places apart much for me, they all have the above average menu’s with the same type food items for the same prices, ha. But this day I did get a great burger, cooked right, and with no onions as requested, my drink was kept full, and the server was friendly and did a good job. Overall was good eats at a good price.

WOW! After eating here a couple weeks ago, I ordered take out looking for a great plate of ribs and on my first bite in I GOT A PIECE OF PLASTIC SO HARD IT CUT MY MOUTH!!! I could’ve swallowed this!?! WHAT!?! How does a piece of hard plastic about the size of half a nickel get into my food?
I’ve ordered from here before and never had a problem. This is the first time. I can’t believe it.
Just an FYI:
Prices on the internet are NOT what they charge you when you get to the restaurant– my ribs were about $ 1.50 more for the half rack than what is listed online for this establishment. I also asked for sour cream, butter and shredded cheese for my baked potato and was charged an additional $ 1.00. The sour cream was MINIMAL and it was in the same container as the butter, which I did not like. The cheese had melted into a blob when we got home and I was unable to sprinkle it on my potato, which was the only thing I ended up eating off my rib plate (YEAH right, like you are going to keep eating after finding a huge piece of plastic in your ribs… half a rack WASTED). I was also charged extra for the white cheddar cheese Brussel sprouts, which were good, but I hate that the meal includes two sides and then I get charged more– especially with the prices not being what they are listed online. Good thing they were there though, or I would’ve starved tonight even though I wasn’t in love with the baked potato either. :|
My dining companion got a chicken tender platter and it was like a SALT bomb went off on the fries. He had me try one and it was HORRIBLE. There was SO much salt it was like the fries were rolled in it, soaked in it, and sprinkled with the spice once again. We wanted to go back to speak to a manager, but I just don’t want to deal with it. Overall, we paid over $ 30 for inedible food that made my mouth bleed. Never paid $ 30 for a baked potato and some Brussel sprouts, and I won’t again.
I will not return. Be careful if you go here– you may end up with blood in your mouth just like I did. I am so unhappy.

We ate here a few times while staying in Bartow in June because the servers were just so lovely that we couldn’t stay away. (I mean $ 20 tip lovely, people who do such a great job should not be struggling on Florida’s puny minimum wage.) A couple of times we arrived 20 minutes before closing and there was never any eye-​rolling or hustling us to finish our meals. The servers keep a constant supply of sweet tea coming throughout the meal and nothing is too much trouble. The food was always decent, tasty but nothing amazing. It’s the South so everything is fried and covered in salt and cheese and sugar, so not a good place to go if you’re counting calories. The mains are a bit expensive for what you get but the consistently great service and friendly atmosphere are worth it.

Salad bar lettuce was frozen. I asked for more lettuce and the young guy I asked threw a hissy fit about having to fill it up cussing and everything. He might have been the dishwasher I’m not sure. I kept my cool, I wanted to explode, but decided not to cause a scene. The salad bar didn’t have anything really there, The bartender was nice, she gets a five star, everyone else 0 star.

Tenonyea was our server and she was amazing! It was a last minute decision to eat here but everyone was very friendly the moment we walked in. Tenonyea was wonderful. Very polite and very knowledgeable of the menu. Everything was clean including the bathrooms. The manager Tonya came by to introduce herself. She was very nice and very pleasant. I’m not in Bartow a lot but really felt the need to write a Unilocal review on this restaurant because good service is rare these days and for anyone in the area or visiting I assure you that you will receive the same service. Even though this Ruby Tuesdays is out of our way I would definitely make the drive back just for that service alone. Great place with great service!

Good food and good service! Super glad they brought back the Typhoon Shrimp! I really love the shrimp and grits meal! It’s super delicious! The servers are always friendly and are glad to have you there.

I love their salad bar. They have changed their menu recently and in my opinion much better than before.

So I normally don’t review chains because normally they are all the same. The food here is pretty good and the price is decent. Took them 3 tries to get a well done steak out but the manager was courteous about it. Only guff… and one that will keep me from returning… is the hostess (es). I walked in with 2 of my co workers who are black males and I’m a white female, hostess just starred at us, didn’t say a word… not hello not how many, not welcome, not ya’ll look strange… nothing. Akward silence and an uncomfortable stare. I actually had to initiate the conversation. I won’t say anything about racism but that is not how I like being welcomed into a place I am spending money at.

a chain is a chain is a chain. There are better. There are worse. Convenient, good service, not fond of their food.
