El Korita

Order the molcajete — it is quite an experience.
Everything here is really tasty. Service could be better — but that’s to be expected in Basalt.

Food is good but service is completely horrible! When you get your Meal and ask for a side of rice at a Mexican restaurant and it takes over 20 mins. I’m sorry that isn’t acceptable. We arrived at 3:30 and the service was so slow that the whole meal took over 2 ½ hours to receive it all!!! Very expensive for the quality of service. I will think twice before going there again.

Absolutely love this place! I lived in Texas for 20+ years and believe me when I say I know my Mexican food! Chips are great. Not to thick but not to thin either. Salsa is always fresh. The fajitas are a staple for me. get them every time. They are great. Portion sizes are great. Lots of mixed veggies and meat. Only complaint is sometimes they put to much oil but nonetheless. wonderful! Overall El Korotas is up on my top 5 list of mexican food places.
Longest I have ever had to wait was 10 min.(during off season). Haven’t been during winter yet but that will change soon. Servers are great and friendly especially if you know Spanish.

I’ve been warned about the waits here, but they also said it’s worth it. We arrived on a Sunday night around 6pm and were 4^th on the wait list which equated to about a 20 minute wait which is far shorter than what I was to expect.
The menu is a bit much to take in, but if looking for lots of options then the menu here is exactly that.
We started wth the medium shrimp cocktail which was average, decent amount of shrimp though.
For entrees we ordered the kebab combo, Steak, and korita combo. Everything was delicious.
Service was great!

This was a surprisingly great find in a very unsuspecting spot. The food is actually authentic Mexican food, with a focus on seafood! This is all sorts of up my alley! That pineapple that is filled with ceviche is ridiculous! What a fantastic idea!

Stopped in on my lunch hour. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the service and food were. Nice atmosphere also.

This is just OK. The food is average however the wait staff seems to always be shorted handed. They are very nice but not fast by any means. I recently had the ground beef taco salad that was not very good. My husband had the fajitas, which he said were OK.

I came in on a Wednesday around 2PM. There were other patrons enjoying their meals when I arrived. I chose a booth and chips were already on the table (my only tip would be to bring chips fresh upon guests seating). The hostess brought salsa and I asked for the extra spicy salsa which was promptly brought out. (75 cents extra but so worth it– SO SPICY! I recommend mixing both salsas if you like it HOTTTT)
I ordered cheese enchiladas and they were probably the best enchiladas I’ve ever had. Granted, I’m from Florida and we just don’t have good Mexican food. I’m happy I’m here in CO now & have El Korita to look forward to! They also bring out a large vat of water so you can help yourself to refills when eating the extra spicy salsa!
Paty was my server and she was very sweet and efficient. Can’t wait til next time!

I’ve eaten here before and it’s always been a great experience. However, yesterday we stopped in for lunch before the matinée, so it was when they just opened… no wait to be seated… we were one of two tables in the whole restaurant. When I ordered I asked for rice with my nachos and the waitress immediately shut me up and said «No». (I guess she didn’t want me to increase my bill… bigger tip)
The food didn’t take long and it was delicious however we needed more salsa. I had to get up and look for the waitress… I interrupted her eating with some of the cooks. She stopped to ask how our food was… then kept walking past our table to speak to someone she knew… again. with one of the cooks (he was wearing a white apron).
We decided to leave and we asked for to go boxes. She brought one. I got up again, walked back to the table that the crew was eating at and asked the cook for a to go box. He advised me, no, ask you waitress. That’s when I advised him that this was the worst service ever! The whole crew behaved as if we were doing them a favor! When we left there were only 2 other customers there. It explains why Smoke next door was busy and they weren’t. When we went to the movie theater, the employee and another movie goer overheard our conversation about the bad service and these locals agreed… don’t go there. The food is delicious however the service is horrible. Needless to say, we didn’t tip the waitress and I’ll never go back. I’d expect them to spit in my food after I addressed there issue with them and I received no response. Too bad the good food is ruined by bad service.

Delicious. I stay in Aspen about 4 weeks each summer. This is a first time one of the locals suggested this place. I was skeptical having come from Los Angeles and the Florida. We were pleasantly surprised. Although service was slightly slow, everyone was nice, the food was outstanding and the margaritas were delicious!
Nothing was too over priced, which was nice. We stayed for quite awhile and enjoyed he chips and salsa, enchiladas and tostada salad. We will definitely be back!

Such a yummy place to eat. We were visiting some friends in Carbondale and they recommended this place. The food and the ambiance was really authentic. The only reason I didn’t give five stars was because the service was REALLY slow. I feel like they needed a couple more people helping out with waitressing. But once we did get the food it was AMAZING! The chips were pretty average but the salsa was exceptional.

Probably some of my favorite Mexican food in the country! I’m from Missouri, so not like I have tons to compare to, but this place is delicious. Generous portions, excellent selection of margaritas, free flowing chips and salsa, and a really fun atmosphere. The menu is HUGE. So much selection, I think I could eat here every night for a month and not have the same thing twice. I had such a hard time deciding but was happy with Korita’s Special: three different seafood options with rice and beans (fish taco, ceviche tostada, shrimp enchilada). Rounded out the meal with a Skinny Margarita (although I don’t think it was all that skinny…) and would totally recommend it. Three types of fresh juice, tequila, and rimmed with salt, served on the rocks. Loved it!
