Chocolate wine, Special Shit. Those are two distinct thoughts, mind you. Let me explain. As part of Unilocal’s Day Trip to Bastrop last Fall, this was one of the stops on the walking tour of downtown. As has been noted by other reviewers, Cripple Creek was the gem of the tour when it came to a store with one-of-a-kind food and gift items. By this point on the tour, you would think we’d had enough, especially after the wonderful welcome provided by the Lost Pines Hyatt. But the sampling of the chocolate wine provided by Cripple Creek & Co was thoughtful and different from anything else we’d experienced on the day, and was most welcomed. But what makes Cripple Creek & Co unique for me is their selection of spices. One of the brands they feature is Special Shit, and they had samplers available. Special Shit makes Dip Shit, Bull Shit, Hot Shit, Aw Shit, BBQ Shit, and Good Shit. But the best was the Special Shit. Wouldn’t you know that my friend Heather F got a bottle of Special Shit? We were all envious of Heather’s Special Shit. Heather had to guard her Special Shit with her life the rest of the day. And she would have left her Special Shit behind at the Bastrop Brewhouse had yours truly not noticed she had forgotten her Shit. Of course, by that time of day, there weren’t many of us who still had our Shit together. Then again, if I’d said nothing, that would have given rise to a new Special Shit product: Lost My Shit.

Love this store!!! I wouldn’t buy my wine and candles anywhere else! They have lots of little trinkets and neat novelties. If Dee Dee doesn’t have a candle you want she can order! I love the wine tasting events. Where else in little old Bastrop can you get: –Wine and wine tasting events –Circle E Candles –great gift ideas you wouldn’t think of –and so much more… not too mention awesome service and conversation. Stop by you won’t regret it!

Came for the Messina Hof wine tasting. This is now my third visit(and wine tasting.) Every time there’s been a delicious spread of hor d’oeuvres: cheeses, crackers, meats, fruit, dips and other items sold in the store. I finally brought my mom and my daughter. Both of which enjoyed the visit. We left with a toy, some pepper jelly(that we sampled over some baked Brie), and of course wine. The gift shop has something for everyone. Toys for the kids, seasoning, rubs, sauces for the men, and everything else for the ladies. Love this place!

I love Cripple Creek! I always find something I need at CC! Great Wines, Speciality oils and vinegars, spices, rubs, dips, gifts coffees, etc! Great selection of jewelry items and gifts. Never been in when I wasn’t greeted and offerred a taste of wine, coffee, or snacks. Bastrops finest… they give the lovely downtown a great representation. CC often has wine tastings from Texas wineries… a great way to get acquainted(or re-aquainted) with what Texas has to offer.

What an adorable gift shop! The moment I walked in my wallet started quivering with excitement… or fear. They had a small wine tasting, delicious dips to check out, a line of meat rubs called«_______shit» — sweet shit, special shit, bullllll shit. They also had adorable wine glasses, coffees and cute texas-y stuff. Downtown Bastrop is a really adorable place to shop and this is one of those spots that really moves the needle. The gals inside were as sweet as pie and convinced me to try one of their in-house frozen beverages. Walking around with a boozie slushy in hand isn’t the worst way to shop.

What a great little wine shop! They were actually doing a wine tasting showcasing a local business(I apologize because I can not remember for the life of me which one it was) and during that event they offered not only the wine but a wide range of accompaniments such as cheeses, crackers, chips, and other tapas. The first time I was here, I bought a Lolita wine glass called«Bunny Slippers» and the glass had a recipe written underneath the glass itself. During another visit, I bought a miniature high heel collectible(complete with a ‘shoe box’!) for my bestie’s birthday. She absolutely loved it! :(\_(\ *:(=’ :’) :* *.(,(«)(»)°.*‘”
