2nd time here in 2 years and still underwhelmed. We were the only customers in the place and food still took over 25 minutes. When it did come out it was not hot. Omelet was very skimpy on the ingredients, and they were overcooked and slimy. Sausage had no flavor. Gravy was watery and cold. Potatoes had no seasoning at all. Woman that took our order was very LOUD. We could hear her talking in the kitchen the entire time. Never checked back on us, said nothing as we left. Poorly run, mediocre food.

I’ve enjoyed lunch here a couple times and also had samples during the Christmas Swirl. Everything that I’ve tried I’ve really liked. The pastrami panini was a solid sandwich and the side pasta salad was also good. Had the meat lasagna yesterday and really enjoyed it despite the fact I actually ordered the vegetable lasagna. Great location and cute diner atmosphere. I’ve never been here for breakfast or dessert so those are two things on my list to try in addition to other lunch options.

Delectable entrees, lovingly prepared — best eggplant parmesan I’ve ever had, King Ranch chicken to die for, knockout jambalaya, green curry — really doesn’t matter, just bring me the daily special(or anything on the menu). Homemade bread & pastries, have mercy. If I’m ever on death row, my last meal is coming from here.

Have been waiting for breakfast for over 40 minutes now. Wow!!! The whole time we are waiting there is a loud mouth wearing sandals in the kitchen give order in a very unprofessional manner. If she is the owner she set a very bad example for other owners of small business in a small town. The coffee is very good. Wish I could rate the food. Still have not received it!!!

Go for the coffee and chai. Leave quickly because of the rude staff. I’ve been in here several times and the one person in the entire store who knows how to use the espresso machine is always either out or full of thinly veiled insults. Seriously, I hate this place but I go back every now and then because it’s tolerable coffee on Main Street. Looking forward to ANYOTHER coffee options in the downtown area. And what the hell is up with those wrought-iron twig chairs?! Nothing says«Come in, have a cup of coffee, relax a while.» like a chair that feels like a medieval chastity belt. Seriously, Main Street Café, your chairs suck.

Visited this quaint eatery on 11.28.15 Very good food! However, there was a young lady there not sure if she was the owner. Obnoxious does not adequately describe her. Very loud and the center of attention. Kept interrupting the cashier while patrons were ordering. Had a fountain drink she kept slurping on and placing on the counter. Unprofessional to say the least. If she is there go somewhere else.

Wonderful little gem in downtown Bastrop. The food is delicious and portions are ample. The historic venue is very cool. I’ve only had breakfast but I’ll be back for lunch for sure!

Had coffee on 11÷18÷15 for breakfast after I walked around taking photos of downtown. They coffee was $ 2 and came with free refills, but they had those small white bone china café cups, maybe they are 6 oz or less? So I had like three trips to get coffee which was a pain. I sat up front, left of the entrance. Good view of the street, but also a good view of the flies hanging around the front windows. For the record, this is something I saw at severalp laces so maybe it was the time of year? On 11÷19÷15 My wife and I stopped in for lunch. They had meatloaf.(I think every restaurant in town has meatloaf and chicken friend steak and they all claim to have the best… lol.) So, for $ 8 or so, the lunch special was a good deal. The meal was a good serving of meatloaf which I couldn’t finish, collard greens(fairly bitter, as expected), macaroni and cheese(ok) and a cornbread muffin. With the meatloaf, it was much better than the one from«Grace Miller», it had some rice in it and a good, proper, tomato sauce topping though with the size of the serving, I’d like to have a bit more. I added some Cholula sauce to the meatloaf and collard greens. The collard greens had a good amount of bacon and could have used some mustard but was good with the cornbread. The cake was a real slice of cake, unlike«Grace Miller» and it was Italian cream that I couldn’t eat as I am a little allergic to pecans which it had a good amount of. They were happy to swap it out for whatever desert I wanted and I got a raspberry filled muffin(like a jelly on the inside) which I ate in it’s entirety. All in all, a good little café. They just need some bigger coffee cups. ;-)

Very disappointing. This is not a good spot for a lunch hour break. It took over thirty minutes to get our food. Not very timely efficient. Food was okay … But not made per request. Also, The chairs are really uncomfortable.

I really like this place– I either get the spinach salad with chicken(excellent quality chicken) or the special. Fresh food. I really like the care taken to serve quality over quantity and I would put money on the fact that they know what is seasonal and use that information. I recommend this place!

Had the lunch special of chicken with carrots and potatoes with a piece of homemade bread and a piece of chocolate cake. All I can say is DELICIOUS.

Love this place! My family and I just moved to Bastrop from Austin and both times we’ve come here, the service and staff have been extraordinarily friendly and the food is superb. I love the veggie omelet plate. The second time we came in, I wanted to treat an out of town friend to some local eateries in downtown Bastrop — we knew we wanted breakfast. It was around noon on a Tuesday and they were able to make us breakfast when all the other restaurants had stopped serving it. They’re also a catering company which I definitely will consider using if I ever need an event catered. This is by far one of my top favorite restaurants in downtown Bastrop.

This is the place to go! I love the food, love the ambience(the tables aren’t way too close to each other) and there’s great service. If you’re looking for some good food definitely try this place out! I will be coming back

Traveling from Houston to Austin and decided to try this place based on the reviews here on Unilocal. My husband ordered the SW chicken salad. The lettuce was old and brown and the chicken was dry. He also found a bug in the middle of it. We had a horrible experience.

Great lunch spot. Our first choice, Pawpaw’s, was closed on Mondays, and this place was close by, so we decided to try it. Good call! There’s a nice selection of sandwiches, burgers, etc. I had the daily special, King Ranch chicken with a side salad, chips and salsa plus chocolate cake, all for $ 7.95. Hubby had the Texas ham sandwich. He gave it a hearty thumbs up. We will definitely eat here again when passing through the quaint little Texas town of Bastrop.
