My wife and I have dined at Mansurs on the Boulevard approximately six times since we moved back to Louisiana in 2015. It is hands down our favorite restaurant in the city. Our visit for Valentine’s Day lunch was no exception and for the first time, we were seated in the wine room. The crab cake and the special sauce that covered it were spectacular! I ordered the eggs Sardou and my wife ordered the eggs Benedict. They were both mouth watering and very filling. I would be remiss if I did not mention that their wine list is well-thought-out and the piano player filled the room with delightful music for all the diners to enjoy. Mansurs is one of the few restaurants in Baton Rouge that is open on Sunday which is a real plus in our way of thinking. In closing, our waiter made sure that our Valentine’s Day lunch was memorable, and my wife and I would recommend it for anyone seeking a dining experience that you will remember for a long time…

I heard this restaurant was a great pick from Baton Rouge and I am always looking for new restaurants in BR. Since I’ve moved, I haven’t been able to explore my home city, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. We ordered the chargrilled oysters which were seasoned perfectly and grilled to perfection. I am such a fan of Dragos, Acme, and Mike Anderson’s oysters that I never thought about this place. I have to say, it’s my new favorite out of all 3 of those locations! We also ordered the soft shell crab with the bbq shrimp over a bed of grits. I had no idea they would come with the grits or I probably wouldn’t have ordered them. I’m so glad I didn’t know! That dish was delicious! I want more! I also would like more crème brûlée and more red fish and I’d like to try everything else on the menu. The only thing that I didn’t really care for was the bread pudding, but I will be back and I will order more and update this review. =)

One of my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. Mansur’s is a great spot and they make an excellent Sazerac!!! Can’t wait to go this spot when I’m in Baton Rouge again !!!

If I was basing this review solely on the grilled oysters I’d be giving a solid 5 stars. Absolutely delicious. Tender, garlicky, buttery, succulent with a light dust of Parmesan. Really really good. The entrees we had, duck and red fish, were both very good. The risotto side was wallpaper paste I swear. And the desserts, bread pudding and Louisiana Lust, went uneaten because they were way too sweet and otherwise tasteless. The manager obviously alerted by the waiter that we didn’t eat the desserts came by and kindly offered us something else. Although we declined we appreciated the gesture. When I spend a lot of money on dinner I expect to enjoy the meal from start to finish. The food was inconsistent.

What a magnificent place to eat with your spouse. Intimate environment with soft but modern tunes(Ben Harper, Jack Johnson). A most excellent Mahi Mahi in sweet potato purée served with leek au gratin and balsamic reduction. Ooh la la. Our server(Ian) was very knowledgeable on the dishes and menu. We thoroughly enjoyed this dinner and will visit again.

Phenomenal service! Decent wine selection … They were out of Turley wine I wanted to try — but the red zin — Boneshaker was very good vs price! … Stuffed mushrooms fantastic! And the steak special was absolutely awesome… I’ll be back!

Overpriced, but good food. Okay service considering the price you pay for your food. The chargrilled oysters are decent. The Mardi Gras crab is good. With the eggplant appetizer you only get three slices of eggplant. Not even the whole eggplant. One eggplant is less than a dollar…

Had a great dinner! Once again chose a place based upon my Über driver’s recommendation, asking for someplace local and good. this was a great recommendation. Classic Louisiana menu, good local beers, great food, and excellent service with the waitress extraordinaire, Sevan(yes, that is her name!) started with the Great Raft, At Arms Length on tap, excellent! Had the charbroiled oysters with crabmeat, nice! And then, based on Sevan’s recommendation, the cedar planked redfish with cocadine(sp?) This place deserves the positive reviews, I would certainly return! Shows you that it pays off to. Trust the cabbies!

Our waiter, Wayne had the best service and was extremely informative and our eggplant and crab cakes were the best we’ve ever eaten. Ask for Wayne!

Great food! I loved the redfish and its freshness. The lamb is also very good! Came here with my boyfriend and had a beautifully romantic evening. Friendly staff as well!

Mansur’s on the Boulevard doesn’t have hundreds of Unilocal reviews like some of my other Baton Rouge favorites, but if you’re ever in town don’t miss out. 25+ years in business and the food is still great! A few weeks ago I enjoyed a late lunch with family. We got there during their bar & grill hours(2pm-5pm) when the main dining area was closed until dinner. At that time of day they seat everyone in a small dining room near the bar. A few of the other customers ordered at the bar so they could watch college football but we opted for table service. Our server was a man with a ponytail(Tyler, I think) and he was exceptional. He knew the menu and the day’s specials backwards and forwards. He explained things in a conversational«if you like this then you’ll love that» style and all of his recommendations were spot on. I wasn’t very hungry so I ordered soup and an appetizer. All That Jazz This was a trio sampler of soups on their menu: Cream of Brie & Crabmeat, Duck Gumbo and the Soup Du Jour(I forget the name but some kind of lamb meatball soup). All three were delicious but my favorite was the gumbo. I liked it so much that the thought of being in Atlanta 500 miles away from a second bowl was more than I could bear. I ended up ordering a to-go quart of gumbo for my take home cooler. Yes, it was that good. Zydeco Mushrooms This appetizer is a must-try for any mushroom lover. I could taste the bold, woodsy flavor of mushroom caps, the sweet seafood, and creamy cheese in every bite. It was a great dish for sharing but fortunately I got to savor every last bite myself. Everyone else said their food tasted even better than it looked. My meal was incredibly satisfying… so much so that I’ll make a special effort to get back to Mansur’s on my next trip to Baton Rouge.

Before I become potentially overly critical, let me start by saying that I did enjoy my visit and that my food was just fine. I’m relatively new to BR, so I’m still learning the culinary scene, but Mansurs seems to be an old institution here. But to me it felt like it’s an old institution that’s become complacent and let itself slide. Sure the dishes are fancy and more-or-less enjoyable, but I didn’t perceive the drive to keep things fresh and new that Commander’s does, or the timeless and impeccable perfection of Antoine’s in New Orleans. But I would love to go back and give them another shot to prove me wrong. Our server was very kind and patient, but unfortunately didn’t have great command of the wine menu and couldn’t really articulate why his favorite«visiting fishes» were indeed his favorite. I’ll chock it up to him being new or an off day, because he was otherwise very nice. Started with the crab cake appetizer(crab cakes are among my favorite things on this planet, so I HAVE to order them whenever I come across a restaurant with them on the menu). Mansurs’ crab cakes were nicely sized, crisp on the outside, and without any shell bits on the inside, and overall were nicely flavored. Texture inside was a little dense. But it was utterly DROWNED in the remoulade sauce! Totally eclipsed and overwhelmed the crab cake itself. Per the waiter’s recommendation, I ordered the tripletail fish roasted on their iconic cedar plank with lemon caper butter. Quite yummy, the fish itself was light and flaky and not too«fishy», but I think could have used a little more seasoning beyond the lemon caper butter and I couldn’t perceive any of the cedar smokiness that was presumably supposed to permeate my fish. My friend got their famous redfish prepared the same way. I would say the redfish was more complemented by the cedar plank preparation: it was heartier and buttery and more satisfyingly flavored — I guess that’s why it’s their signature dish! Both were served with risotto, which had a nice creamy texture but required additional seasoning. Dessert was their Bailey’s cheesecake. Which tasted like a normal, rich, creamy cheesecake, but totally lacked any trace of the titular Irish Cream. So bottom line, not overwhelmed by my experience, but I didn’t not like it.

We failed to make a reservation, so we sat at a hightop table in the bar area. Service was most excellent. I wish I remembered our waitress name so I could give her a shout out. The oysters were so delish!!! I had the duck mansur– amazing! Wine and coffee(because every down needs an up!). Will be back again!

Everything was great here! I love how it’s not overly crowded and we had an area to ourselves. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu. I love waiters who have been working at the same location for years, it says a lot about the company. The appetizers are meant for sharing, we made the mistake of ordering one each, the crab cakes and the shrimp cocktail, so good but so much! We were starting to get full! Crab cakes were very well seasoned and tasted fresh and my goodness the shrimp were the biggest I’ve ever seen! The boyfriend ate all the shrimp plus one of my crab cakes! It was his first time here and he couldn’t stop raving about it! I had the steak and lobster with a side of Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. He had the seared snapper with crabmeat. We could not stop eating! We ate EVERYTHING! The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium. The fish was fresh and the crabmeat was delicious! I had to add a little salt to the fish for me but that was just for my liking, the bf loved it! We had no room for dessert because at this point we were in a food coma. But one that was well worth it. Our server was great! He was chatty but not to the point where we felt it was too much, he made recommendations and gave us the specials and he just seemed so happy considering we walked in 45 minutes before closing and didn’t leave until maybe 30 minutes after closing. The bartender was very heavy handed on the drinks so I didn’t feel the need to have more than one. Overall, I love this place and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice quiet upscale restaurant with quality food and service! Oh, and there was also a pianist playing beautiful music throughout our entire dinner! It was so nice and relaxing!

Oh what fun… leave it to Unilocal to fool me into ratings given by folks who don’t know what good food or quality service is. Bartender Diane was kind and helpful, albeit a bit stressed and unorganized behind the bar. I tasted 3 wines all of which were served in still-wet-from-the-sanitizer glasses and thus, smelled like bleach. Then a bonus: someone who appeared to be a manager comes behind the bar, grabs a styrofoam cup, leans over the well and CAUGHS over the ice and then proceeds to pour himself a double whiskey and coke. Always professional! Next– the free charbroiled oysters. I’d give them an A-…enjoyed the fired flavor but the bread was crap, dry and not fresh. The meal: started with«all that jazz», 3 demitasse cups of their soups. $ 12 and no more than 12 ozs total. Price is way out of line but 2 were tasty at least. Cream of Brie and crab could have come out of a can. Although the entrée was ordered with the app, it took over 25 minutes to arrive. Saving grace: the recommended cedar plank redfish WAS awesome. The substituted side of veggies was quite drenched in too much butter/oil, but the fish was perfect. Don’t yet know if I would come back for ONLY the redfish.

A year later and Mansur’s still making things new, refining fine dining and great service. Aaron the sommelier is a great talker, the bartenders and oyster shuckers are all interesting and unique making my bar experience very enjoyable. While flying solo on Mother’s Day found myself at Mansur’s wondering what to eat and what to drink; with suggestions from Brooke and David, I had the Duck Mansur’s which is like having Peking duck with a delicious raspberry sauce and grits. I also enjoyed my meal with an Oban scotch and finished with a Fladgate port and watched LSU vs Missouri baseball while enjoying the afternoon. I would come here and be one of the regulars if I lived here. Maybe after I retire and none of the staff leave I can come back to enjoy the same meal I did today. Enjoy!

It had been a while since I had been here so I wanted to visit a couple of times before writing this review. Today was my third visit in a couple of weeks and I am sold! Things I liked: crab and brie soup. I had it «back in the day» and wasn’t that impressed back then. The disappointing part today was that I ordered a cup and I wish I had gotten a bowl… Or bucket. Duck breast. I substituted steamed veggies for the risotto because, again, years ago the risotto was pretty gummy and strange. But on trip #2 my son got the salmon and I took a bite of his risotto and it was quite nice. I won’t be subbing out the risotto anymore! Trip #3… Hubby and I had the spinach dip and fried asparagus for a snack after work. He is a vegetarian so those were two things he could really sink his teeth into. :) Add in hot green tea with honey to drink and we were happy!

My boyfriend made reservations, but we still weren’t seated right away or soon after. Then we were seated right by the piano player which was a cute little intimate table, but more close to the music than would have preferred. This was the first time we had been here so we looked at the regular menu and the restaurant week menu. I’m a crab cake girl so no brainier I wanted to try that. I love redfish so I chose that as well. As for dessert I’m plain Jane I would usually rather choose ice cream at home later. Since I chose to participate in restaurant week menu I went ahead and got the dessert. They had a nice selection and the Louisiana chocolate chip cake concoction was good. It wasn’t great though. Honestly it tasted like a chocolate chip cookie with chocolate chip muffin on the inside. Overall it’s a very nice restaurant for date nights. The crab cakes were excellent but it had some corn in the sauce which was rather odd to me. I liked the sauce other than that. Nice classy restaurant to try at least once.

If you’re in Baton Rouge for work — particularly if your with clients and hosting — Mansurs is a great spot, a renowned Baton Rouge eatery, and central to all the hotels. I rarely write a review from the perspective of a business dinner, but since that was the occasion, there’s no reason not to. We sat down on a quiet Monday and received excellent service from start to finish. After ordering a round of holiday microbrews, we got right into the apps. There wasn’t much of a question that charbroiled oysters would be part of the equation, which were cooked to perfection(hot but still soft), buttery, and complimented by fresh Leidenheimer bread(the ONLY French bread you should have in Louisiana). If oysters aren’t your thing, the Acadiana Egg Rolls — filled with duck & shrimp — are on the hearty-side for an appetizer and will surely satisfy the rest of the table. Moving to the main course, I heard rave reviews all-around the table, but I was almost sold immediately by the description of the Duck Mansur: boneless duckling, blackberry sauce… that was all I needed. DONE! While my «medium» duck itself might of been more on the«medium-well» side, this still makes my list of top duck dishes in North America. That blackberry sauce carries this dish a long way… You can walk out of this place well-fed from a multi-course meal that includes a couple drinks, appetizers, soups/salads, entrees, and even a couple coffees for $ 75 bucks a head. Hopefully that fits within your company’s expense constrains :) And if you’re super-savvy, you can close the deal while you’re at it! Whether it’s for business or pleasure, Mansurs is a good BR stop for a nice meal that gives you that classy feel!

Hands down the best meal I have ever eaten in Baton Rouge by far!!! Since I come on business I always get dinner recommendations from locals and Unilocal. So Unilocal brought me to this place, locals rave about Parrains which is delicious as well but Mansurs is ridiculous! Food Chargrilled oysters-best I have ever had in life hands down! So buttery and cheesy but not overly rich. I dream about them Now. Crab and brie soup-its like clam chowder but creamier with not a fishy taste. Grouper topped A’la Cocodrie– means it was topped with crabmeat, green onions, and mushrooms. This dish was heavenly. The fish was cooked perfect nice and flaky. My cocktail was just OK, it was the champagne Cosmo. Not inventive enough for me. I am not writing this review as I’m sitting at the bar for the second time waiting on my Oysters, this time I topped them with crab, stay tuned…
