Love this weekly POP Up market located in the Pennington Research Center parking lot. Everything is seasonal so you never know what you are going to find. There is one thing you can count on finding every week though, and that’s fresh food direct from the farm. I like to get there around 9:00 am and browse the tables for fruit and veg, buy what strikes my fancy and grab a scoop from City Gelato on the way out. I’m not a red meat person, but this market always has a great local source for fresh meats as well as seafood. I am a seafood person and really appreciate the chance to buy head on wild caught Louisiana shrimp direct from the guy that runs the boats. I love that the shrimp aren’t farmed and I can support the fisherman and cut out the middleman. The way it works is you buy tokens from the Red Stick market table and give those tokens to the vendors. You can use cash, credit, or even a senior voucher to purchase the tokens. If you live or work in the area this is a must see.
