This restaurant is no longer operating as Sakura. It has re-opened under a different name, mostly the same menu, they’ve upped their prices on a lot of their menu items, and are now known as Asian House. Same management. The food was just ok, and the Hibatchi chef was very badly opinionated and annoying at times. Not what you want to experience while eating(and paying those high prices for their Hibatchi). Getting take-out from here is like pulling teeth!!! They never get my order right and they don’t pack the food well enough to travel, it spills in your car!!! This restaurant does not really pack the patrons in and now that they have raised prices on some of their menu items, I don’t see me trying them again. Yeah, that’s NOT the way to pull in more patrons… raise the prices on just mediocre quality food and service! There are better sushi restaurants out there that have a much better staff that actually cares about their patrons.

4.5 — 5 stars. I’m from the bay area and currently live in Las Vegas. We have tons of amazing sushi and habachi restaurants here, so I am pretty biased. Also, sushi/japanese just happens to be my favorite thing in the whole world. I’ve had sushi a number of times in New Orleans/Baton Rouge and it has never really compared to the sushi I get at home. I was surprised by the food, but also by the décor. The inside is very clean, romantic, intimate and rather stunning. We were seated in a little alcove with perfect lighting. The seats were very comfortable. The waiter came right away. Service was quick. I’m used to seeing more variety as far as special rolls go, but the ones we ordered were amazing. I REALLY like the spicy yellowtail roll and the eel rock n’roll. I ordered the crazy roll because it sounded excellent, but didn’t realize it was a lightly fried roll. That means it was super filling and I didn’t think I could finish it. But it was great. Everything was very fresh. Most places in Louisiana can’t even get the sushi rice right. It’s usually soggy or completely dry and difficult to eat. Some places have fish that shouldn’t even be sent out on a plate and just put straight into the garbage. Not here. I was thoroughly impressed. If someone were to ask me where to find a good sushi place in Baton Rouge, I would tell them to go to Sakura. I do wish they had mochi ice cream, but it seems to be rare around here.

Absolutely the best sushi in Baton Rouge. I had the eel rock’n roll, the crazy roll, spicy yellowtail, philly roll, and gyoza. All were fantastic. It really surprised me honestly, because Baton Rouge isn’t exactly the best place in the world for good sushi. This place rocks though. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. We were seated in an alcove right next to the sushi bar, which was really nice and gave a privacy feel in the middle of a restaurant.
