For starters let me say, i love sushi masa for what it is and the concept. I have reccomended it to a lot of people and have brought friends there for good times and new experiences. My daughters birthday and a couple of other special occasions. We have had quite a few great memories there with Josh the manager who has always managed to find the time to stop by even just to say hi. The food, atmosphere, and service have always been top notch. Recently though we have noticed a slip in just about everything that made this place great. It seems as thought the focus has gone from giving the customer a great experience to just getting through the shift. The menu changed removing a lot of the items that we really loved. The portion sizes got smaller which doesn’t make sense, now i have to order more and more often. Let me order my food fill up and leave, don’t keep me trapped for hrs ordering tiny pieces of food. Then the quality started to suffer the naruto rolls used to be thin slices of cucumber with tender pieces of fish and avacado in ponzu with smelt roe, now they are thick slabs of cucumber often with the skin still on them around clunky chunks of fish and little to no avaocado and no smelt roe(little orange fish roe). This is only one example of how the quality has declined. If you want wasabi or ginger(that is almost synonymous with sushi service) you have to request it. As far as the service, WELL… me and my wife wanted to enjoy our anneversary. Didnt happen. From the smell of the trash out back to almost the front door, the night only got worse. When you first order its wise to order the green mussels(they take a while). The food arrived before the appetizers which arrived before the drinks or even water. My wifes food and my food was put on the same plate, we had to seperate it ourselves. The waiter was hard to find and when he came to check on us he left with my wifes plate while she was still eating off it. After all that, remember the green mussels? When the waiter finally remembered them he brought them out cold. GAMEOVER! GIVEMETHECHECK! needless to say it will be a long time before i go back if i ever do. And as far as recommendations go, god forbid i should hear someone mention the name! My name is Randy Lawson. Btw i had to give a one star rating to post.

Best buffet /a la carte sushi in Baton Rouge. Sometimes the service isn’t all that great, but I’m not going there for the service. We love the fact that you can order several rolls and sashimi even on the lunch buffet menu and it’s definitely worth the $ 15 per person. If you are going with a party of 6 or more I would recommend reservations and they also have 2 semi private rooms.

I don’t know about the food because I refuse to eat in a place this gross! On the outside was a bench with empty beer bottles and cups and garbage. On the inside. Dirt everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE! I don’t think they have ever cleaned this place once! There is caked on dirt on the floors and walls as well as stuff that could be easily vacuumed but hasn’t been in a really long time maybe a year. There was also a musty smell in this place! So grossed out. I went to another sushi place around the corner that was much cleaner and nicer.

This place is great all around. I’ve been here a couple times with my family & each time we’ve all left stuffed & satisfied. Great place to go with your family or a group of friends. During lunch, they have all-you-can-eat for like $ 16& it goes up to around $ 26 or $ 27 for dinner. Either way it’s a great deal! This includes most of your basic rolls, a good number of speciality rolls, appetizers, fried rice, salads, & even desserts. The service has always been good & the food even better. I would probably recommend getting here a little earlier than you would normally eat just because it can get packed quickly.

So service to start was a bit slow. Lots of servers running around but only one hostess dealing with to go orders. Ordered Gyoza for an appetizer, a little cold for me, but the flavor and texture were great. Soup had same temperature problem. My husband had the miso and I had clear soup. Spicy sushi combo for husband, good size plate. Temperature is the recurring theme tonight. Raw roll should be chilled, got luck warm and texture was mushy. Chicken teriyaki, again temperature issue coming out of the kitchen. Also, if you have any food allergies make sure you ask. My plate came with mushrooms, this was not on the menu. Could have been really sick, luckily I saw them. I felt bad for our waiter. Nice kid, but could tell he was getting a bit anoyed with me.

Well, it was a date night and we were looking to try a new sushi restaurant. We had just missed the lunch all you can eat for 15 bucks by ten minutes and the dinner was 25. We just decided we’d come another time during lunch to try the all you can east sushi(which they serve on weekends till 3). Anyways we ordered the shrimp soba noodles and they were too good. I prefer the soba to the udon because they aren’t as thick. Also, the fruit sushi roll was amazing! It was beautiful and yummy, I could’ve probably eaten two by myself! The miso soup was pretty good, but they were out of seaweed to add to it. We actually ordered the poached cream cheese salmon roll and it looked really raw when it came out. The server fetched one of the chefs who told us to try it, it was cooked(maybe to a degree), and if we still didn’t like it they’d take it off bill. Well we tried it but I still couldn’t get over the texture so he graciously removed it and we tried the shrimp avocado sushi. It was okay, better than the other. Still though nothing holds a candle to the gourmet sushi fruit roll we had. I can’t wait to come back to Sushi Masa. This place is incredible. Looking from the outside you wouldn’t think it’s all that, but inside the décor is nice and the food is great.

Nothing but positive experiences at Masa. I’ve been for lunch and dinner and the variety cannot be beat. The wait staff and kitchen is always really quick with food and the quality of the food is always super fresh and delicious. My go-to apps are the Kani Salad, Seaweed salad, and squid salad. The cucumber and crab app is also great. For rolls, I love the double spicy and double crunchy rolls for lunch and the TNT and Bubba Gump for dinner. One of these days I’m going to stop myself and be able to eat dessert too…

I simply love the made-to-order for one price concept! Within the last 6 years, I recently started to dislike buffets very much; they are not my cup of tea. But this place does not have the revolving sushi boats nor does it have tons of sushi sitting out waiting to be grabbed by the next hungry patron. You sit, you are given a menu and you pay one price(unless you order something off menu). I was invited by a friend out, so I suggested Sushi Masa because there is something for everyone(sushi lover or not). Amidst the crazy Friday lunch(during the Lenten season) crowd, we were seated within 20 mins or so. Sushi is pricey, so coming to this restaurant for freshly made rolls, tasty appetizers, lunch plates and even ice cream for dessert for $ 15.95 was completely worth it! There weren’t a lot of roll choices without the rice, but I decided to splurge and order the rolls. I was not disappointed at all. The service was quick, always with a smile and our food came out as quick as they could get it out. Tempura shrimp was fabulous and so was that veggie tempura. I ordered some roll on top of those items, too. Was a stuffed? Oh yes! I am surprised I was able to walk out normally because I was so full. Of course I could not leave without a cup of green tea ice cream, which completed my lunch here!

Fresh fish, good rolls on the all you can eat dinner. We had so much food(salad, soup, appetizer, sashimi, special rolls) and fried cheesecake for dessert for only around $ 40 per person which is not bad at all for the amount of food and the quality they offer. Don’t get a cosmopolitan — not good hence not worth the calories if you know what I mean! Andrew/Drew, our server was great! Very friendly and super knowledable about the menu. When hungry for lots of sushi and good japanese food, this is the place to go to! It gets 4 stars because of my yucky cosmo!

There are so many sushi places in Baton Rouge but I love coming here with friends since it’s a made-to-order sushi buffet! We usually come for dinner with a group and order a whole ton of food! They recently implemented a policy that you can only order 20 pieces of sashimi at a time, but our waitress was cool and just kept the fish coming. $ 25/person for dinner includes a cocktail and is a great deal, in my opinion! My favorites include yellowtail, salmon, and tuna sashimi, seaweed salad, jalapeño yellowtail, kani su, double spicy roll, fried gyoza, and green tea ice cream. Tip: I would stay away from ordering the LSU Roll(or just order one for the table) since it’s VERY large and not very tasty. Save room for something better!

Little bit of a wait, maybe because of it being New Year’s Day, no worried though. My wife and I opted for the AYCE sushi option during lunch time which is $ 15.95 a person and includes a great variety of apps, sushi rolls, salads, dessert and«items from the kitchen». We sat at the sushi bar and the atmosphere was great. Our waiter, Mason, had a great personality, made sure our drinks were topped off, and was very attentive despite the resturant being busy. The sushi was tasty and the Sushi Chefs behind the sushi bar were polite, informative, and checked on us several times as we dined to make sure we were satisfied with out rolls. Overall a very pleasant experience and we will be returning.

Sushi! Sushi! Sushi! Sushi Masa! We want Sushi Masa! I was having a not-ok kind of day and so my sister brought me to one of my fav AYCE sushi restaurant and we were not disappointed! Our server, was very knowledgable about the menu. Since this place has become of my favorite go-to-place, I’ve pretty much tried everything ok the menu. Well, not everything… just mainly the raw rolls. Lol So we asked for a recommendation! Josh, the witty general manager, not only stepped up the game, he asked the sushi chef to transform the typical ingredients in one-two roll… and gave it a twist! I forgot which roll(s) he used, but he presented us with the Henry Roll!(The talented chef is name Henry. Lol) It was the Bomb dot com! It literally melted in my mouth. You can definitely taste how fresh the fish was! Snowcrab, tuna, asparagus and cream cheese rolled in nori wrapper; topped with fresh avocado, salmon and tuna slices, and fish eggs. What made the dish wasn’t just the fresh ingredients, it was that the chef knew the right amount of eel sauce and spicy mayo to add to the dish. Most places I know, drown their rolls with tons of sauce to mask the not-so-fresh ingredients. I have also notice that their bartender is getting better at mixing the adult beverages. No longer the days of inconsistency; the drinks are fabulous! Oh! And a secret tip: ask if they have fresh wasabi available when you dine. It really makes a difference than your typical out of the tube wasabi.

Spoil yourself here! This is by far the best value and quality in the Baton Rouge area. You may find more aesthetically pleasing places to eat sushi, but none will fulfill your hunger and desire for great service like Sushi Masa. The management is very interested in your satisfaction here and the servers do a great job keeping you happy. Most reviews have already mentioned the AYCE, so make sure you check that out. Just be sure to tip your server and not leave too much leftovers!

I was actually pretty impressed. I’ve lived in a number of towns that had all-you-can-eat sushi, and I’ve never been in a comparable restaurant that offered it. The sushi was good quality, and there was a huge variety of sushi and hot foods to try. It wasn’t just the same old, same old, either. There were foods I’ve never seen on other menus that were on the all-you-can-eat-menu, which was amazing. I wasn’t limited to three types of tuna rolls and a California roll. The service was good, and when a member of our party had an issue with his bill, it was taken care of right away. I have no complaints about my experience here.

Sushi Masa is one place that is on its way to becoming a college-town staple. There is a veritable labyrinth of space which includes a sushi bar and multiple sectioned rooms. Some of these rooms can get a little cramped when it’s busy. The service is generally pretty good even during the busy times. To be honest, the food is nothing special. It’s mediocre quality and portions are not that large compared to others. Here’s why — ultimately what keeps people coming back is the very well-priced(cheap) all-you-can-eat menu. This alone deserves your attention and major kudos! The kitchen, however, does tend to slow down a bit lending to a slight wait for your next round of goods. Overall — Mediocre across the board, but special props for the all-you-can-eatery! By itself, this will keep you coming back.

I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant to try out this place at first. All you can eat sushi? Surely thats not possibly great quality. Well, I am glad to report that I was wrong. I came by for lunch, it’s $ 15.95 + tax and gratuity, and have to say that I had a very pleasant experience. Their lunch menu is smaller than their dinner menu, but nonetheless provides good variety. We ordered a bunch of sushi, eel, smoked salmon, red snapper, shrimp and they all came out quickly and tasted great. We tried both the pepper tuna and tuna tataki. The portions were small, but perfect since we just wanted to give them a try. They taste similar, only big difference is the sauce. We ordered 2 rolls, baby tiger and dragon roll. The dragon roll was the better one of the 2. As a dessert(though listed under appetizers) we got the fried sesame balls, it was very good and nice way to end the meal. Now I am in a sushi coma. Excuse me while I pull myself together :).

This place is always a favorite when my friends or family want to get together. Easily one of my top 3 sushi places aside from Ichiban and Sushi Yama. Pros — The all you can eat is an awesome value. For around $ 25 a head you have a select all you can eat menu made fresh to order. Has everything from Sushi, Sashimi, Fried Rice, Apps, and Teriyakis. Sushi is always pretty good and they have a good selection of specialty rolls. We usually go with a group of 6 or so and eat family style and that’s the way to go trust me. Every Sunday they have bottomless Mimosas as well for $ 8. Cons — Service and food timeliness can be hit or miss. Still rating 5 stars based off our experience this evening. Our server Dena(sp?) was exceptional. She was very attentive, never had to ask for refills, made sure our order was correct and was very clear with her communication. Our food came out super fast as well and we were probably done within an hour and a half or so. Keep in mind we order A LOT.

Lunch buffet for $ 16 with drink included is a great deal. However, nothing really stood out and scream for me to come back and have it again. Aged tofu, seaweed salad, shrimp tempura, spicy Kani salad were good! Their sushi rolls aren’t that good, seaweed was too soggy. but it wasn’t bad either! I wouldn’t recommend the vegetable tempura or the Shumai! Finished lunch with the green tea ice cream, pretty rich favor. Our waiter John was very polite and took great care of us! Dinner menu has many more options and maybe we’ll go back and try it another time!

The all you can eat option is stupendously ridiculous! I ate at least $ 90 worth of sushi(per the a la carte pricing) and got an adult beverage for $ 24.95. Now that’s a deal! I was expecting mediocre sushi, but was really surprised by the sushi quality. It was GOODT! Yes, GOODT! The Bubba Gump Roll and the Snow White Roll are to die for! Just those are worth the price! But you can also get things other than sushi for that $ 24.95. You can get salads, soups, cooked fish(the teriyaki salmon looked good), and other things. Give the Sushi Masa AYCE option a try, you’ll love it!
