I went in expecting diner food and that’s what I got… but it wasn’t good! We got breakfast… the oil the potatoes were cooked in tasted old. It took the waitress 20 minutes to get my boyfriend his coffee. The waitress was impolite, did not care about us at. She ran around clearing the tables instead of checking on us. Then when I was finished she asked if I was done, didn’t ask if I wanted a to go box and took my food. We will not be going back!

Speeds was a corner stone/hang out for the(now) 50-to 65 year old crowd. The burgers, the hand cut fries… You probably want to order take out here. You can smell the bathrooms if you eat in! At one time there were 4 Speeds restaurants and 1 fine dining restaurant in BC. Speed has been dead for awhile now and this is the only Speeds that remains. Order burgers well done(or they can be raw!) and don’t forget the fries! Good breakfasts, but again set as far away from the bathrooms as you can! Better for takeout then eat in.

If you’re looking for shakes burgers and fries this is the place to go. When you walk inside it looks like a dive but don’t let the atmosphere suede you from trying this place. This is one of the few places in Battle Creek that you can get a real ice cream and milk milkshake or malt also their burgers and breakfast are very good. If you can get over the looks, try a malt or a burger and you will not be disappointed.

This place is older, but they make a good breakfast with real(not frozen) hashbrowns. Very good food.

Burger, fries, malt. Those are the three words that I think of when I go to this greasy spoon. It’s open all night, it’s populated by regulars, the servers are the experienced, world weary type that wait tables as a career, not as something to do ’til they finish college. No one, whether they’re bikers or denizens from the nearby subsidized housing complexes, bothers you in the least. Everyone seems to know everyone else, and large groups of people sit at groups of tables drinking coffee, making philosophical comments about society, and heading for periodic smoke breaks in the parking lot. A guy named Lance sits in the corner in the back typing away on his computer. The parking lot has a wide range of cars, from junkers to impeccably maintained Ford Mustangs. The building, inside and out, is minimally maintained, and I’d say the rest rooms are used only if you can avoid touching anything. The food is greasy spoon delicious. I always feel overdressed when I go there. I love this place.
