I ate dinner here on Tuesday, 09⁄08. Had the Fish Tacos. Excellent quality, taste, presentation, and service. Highly recommended! For dessert(I wanted ‘portable’) I got two Mother’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. Absolutely wonderful!

This place is awesome. We went for lunch over the Labor Day holiday. They do let you know on their board that it does take a while for your food to be made, as they make it to order. I had the turkey bacon sandwich and my husband had the Cuban. We both got the kettle chips. The food was outstanding and definitely worth the wait. The thing I have noticed about Bayfield in general is sometimes things take a while, but you are there to enjoy the atmosphere and shouldn’t be in a rush anyways. We will definitely come back here in the future.

Awesome lunch! We had a bowl of the red lentil curry soup and it was amazing! Wonderful flavor! Next, we each had the white fish sandwich and it was filling and packed full of flavor. We will definitely be back.

Dinner was absolutely delicious but our waitress was another story. I ordered a shrimp. & a fish taco & she brought me both fish. She never came back to ask how our meal was and then in the middle of our meal she hounded us to pick our dessert as they were closed. Never asked me what I wanted for dessert, only my husband. Clearly not the best customer service! Too bad as the food was good. She marred what was to be a great meal.

During my visit to Bayfield WI I went to several restaurants and participated in local activities. I found Bayfield in General to be a Not So Friendly place. Unil I went to the fat radish. The lady’s were very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, I had fish taco’s and caprese salad and both were incredibly good. The place is clean except for the pesty fly that got in and bugged us. I would Recommend this place to anyone. Oh and in the evening for dinner they put white table clothes on the table and it becomes an elegant place to eat. LOVEIT.

Great food, horrible service. It wasn’t very busy here, as there were some empty tables but the staff seemed overwhelmed and under-staffed. I ordered a whitefish sandwich and a non-sweetened iced tea. They both were delicious. When I went to the counter to ask for a refill, the waitress snapped, «our refills are NOT free!». I patiently replied, «I’m happy to pay for it». After I got my iced tea, I sat down. The dish bins were behind me and the waitress angrily slammed dishes in the bins. It was a rather stressful environment. We weren’t sure what was up. The food was great and the environment with cut sunflowers on the table gave it a «potential» nice feel. However, I don’t think I’ll be returning as it was not a relaxing experience. Finally, I regret leaving a 20% tip when I paid for my meal ahead of time at the counter.

The best deli in town. Each sandwich is terrific and the salads are light and energizing. Perfect for after a morning of kayaking and hiking. It lifted us up to head back for another adventure. The food will not disappoint. The waiters are friendly and the atmosphere relaxing and pleasant. Comfy arm chairs or table seating makes it feel cosy and warm. Not to saw the the chocolate and raspberry tort is to dis for. Enjoy

Everything about our dinner was fantastic and fresh, much of it local. We tried the Caesar salad and pan seared trout. The staff was friendly and kindly accommodated our puppy at an outdoor table with an unsolicited water bowl. We will definitely return for their deli service!

Starting with the good: +Went for lunch one day and the sandwiches were good. We just got cold cuts so it was quick. +Cute décor The bad: — went for dinner and had to wait 2 hours for our food to come out. At one point we asked if our food was on the way and the waitress lied and said«they’re plating you’re dinner now as we speak». We waited 30 minutes. — they gave us bread but no plates or utensils — the food was only okay. We had 5 different meals. I got a vegetable loaf type thing and it was really salty. Nobody was thrilled with their meal. — repeatedly ran out of water — waitress said, «gratuity would be very appreciated» when another customer was paying for their meal at the register which is really tacky. In summary– go here for lunch and don’t order anything from the kitchen. Don’t expect good service.

I would confirm the idea of checking their winter hours before going, but they do take reservations and it’s COMPLETELYWORTHIT. Best meal I’ve had in a long, long time. I was in Bayfield for a winter weekend and we went there for Valentine’s Day dinner. First, we had a 3.5 yr old with us, and they were completely flexible with catering to his desires. They offered to make anything that he would want, but he initially had some trouble with the vastness of choices, so the waitress made an impromptu kids menu. He eventually settled on a platter of sausage, fruit, cheese, and veggies with some home-stirred chocolate milk. For an appetizer we had crab cake with a spicy guacamole topping on a bed of fresh greens and lil flowers. Amazing. I then had a lobster bisque to pair my medium-rare filet mignon wrapped in slow cooked bacon and served with mashed potatoes, a roasted carrot medley, and a mushroom/pinot grigio sauce. I was decently full when it came out and I ate every last bit. My lovely date had pork-tenderloin skewers on a bed of brown rice served with a thai peanut sauce that was equally delicious. All in all, Fat Radish has a quaint, small cozy feel, with caring/personable staff and ingredients that are locally grown and dishes that are creatively cooked and presented. The highest quality food with very reasonable prices. I can’t recommend it enough.

The winter/off-season hours are completely different from what is listed on the site, please keep that in mind. That said, if you are fortunate happen upon this lovely little restaurant when they’re open, it is truly a great experience. There aren’t a lot of dinner options during the winter here in the tiny town of Bayfield, but the Fat Radish is a solid choice. During Fish Friday, their menu features trout, walleye, whitefish, and salmon, presumably from any of the local fisheries. The pan-fried trout is a tasty choice; it comes with your choice of soup or salad as well as one side. The soup that night was lobster bisque, which is a standout on its own. Creamy, with notes of citrus, it was unforgettable. The fish tacos were a little sloppy though. The portions, though large, were served in white corn tortillas, which were quickly saturated with the liquids from the fish and tore. Either double up on the corn tortillas, or use flour tortillas. They were also very heavy handed with the grated cheese. The mango salsa was a great accompaniment, though. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming, and I would recommend stopping in here if you ever find yourself in Bayfield.

Nice variety of sandwiches, cute atmosphere, friendly staff. I wish we had more market/deli like this in Wausau.
