This café is a cute little hole in the wall. I stopped here one day for lunch with a coworker after we found ourselves starving after a meeting in Bayport. You walk in and it was a seat yourself, old fashioned café. The menu was sizeable. I ordered the Turkey Melt which was the perfect size for a lunch. The food was tasty but nothing overly memorable. The hours on this place are a little strange as it transitions at around 2pm over to a different part of the building which is the bar. This was a little different compared to what I am used to. The venue itself is cute yet dated. I guess it adds to the ambiance. To go to the bathroom though you have to walk through the kitchen… super strange! This place is also cash only. This place would totally deserve more stars if it was up with the times, but the cash only component is not something you see these days.

This place is great. Met up with three friends and had breakfast. All of us had something different. One guy had something I think he calls the mess, it had everything and looked fantastic. Another guy had French toast and I had hash browns, corned beef hash and eggs. If you have read my other Unilocal about breakfast corned beef you know I am fussy. This was great. Nice place, we will eat at the Not Just Café again.

Lorraine N. and I got to meet up for lunch. I got the special fried haddock. It’s rare to be able to get that, mostly it’s walleye in MN. It reminded me of my youth in Albany, NY. Huge piece hanging off the plate. I wish it had some more salt, but it was still delicious. It was my first meal of the day, so I was starving after my mani/pedi at 7 nails in St. Paul. I got the soup right away and it was a huge bowl of a creamy hamburger soup. You are offered a choice of chicken or beef gravy with your mashed potatoes. I got beef, as good as it was next time I’ll get something lighter. The damn green beans were actually delicious, and I ate every one. However, Lorraine’s hot turkey sandwich was especially inviting, and I have to admit I shamelessly was nibbling on that. She knew the waitress, who was awesome. This is Lorraine’s territory. I love home cooking, probably because I wasn’t raised on it, so it’s a big treat for me.

This is one of our favorite places. Generous portions and friendly service. This is tops on our list for breakfast in the St Croix valley!

Pie-wise, this started out so promising and then I got to the crust. It tasted like the refrigerator. I notice on earlier reviews the desserts don’t get much of a mention. Probably because this is a place of such enormous portions and scads of sauces, it’s a challenge to still have room for pie. Otherwise, the place is lovely. The local greasy spoon, complete with wise-ass farmers and pretty, sassy waitresses.

Just absolutely loved this place. Wandered in around 10:30 on a Saturday — it was busy, but I found a place at the counter right away. The coffee was hot and delicious and the lovely woman serving at the counter set me up with my own pot to refill at will. I had the Denver«mess», which is basically eggs however you want them cooked over your selected toppings(Denver: cheese, peppers and ham — duh) and hashbrowns + some truly lovely sourdough toast. They also gave me some house hot sauce(at least I think it was house… I’ve never seen the brand before) that was AWESOME. All in all, a lovely Saturday morning excursion in Bayport! Note: they only take cash.

Such a great breakfast spot! Even on Mothers Day morning, we didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes. The staff was fun and friendly — you can tell its a family business — good energy and positive moral. And the food was great too! Filling, old-fashioned cooking like you would make at home, but better. We will be back whenever we travel through Bayport!

New resturant in Bayport MN! Not Justa Bar is owned and opperated by the same owners of Not Justa Café! Same great breakfast as Not Justa Café. Not Justa Bar has an amazing lunch and dinner menu! Its a must have in Bayport. Not Justa Bar has an amazing outdoor patio too! It also has a small parking lot to the left of the building and a larger parking lot to the right of Not Justa Café.

We stopped in at Not Justa Bar(same place just expanded next door)…first impression was very good. The staff was very friendly and made good food recommendations. It was technically past their breakfast, but they happily let us order off the breakfast menu. While waiting for our food we got delicious bloody marys. They were perfectly spicy! The food was excellent. I got the sausage, onion, mushroom mess. It comes with with hashbrowns, cheese and eggs on top. It is now my new favorite breakfast! Overall great food and experience. I will definitely return. I look forward to trying their specials, they look and sound very good!

Stopped in here a few times in the past couple of months and have never been disappointed with the food. Most recently I had the hot turkey sandwich and gravy — lordy lordy it was really yummy. The service was friendly and helpful. I brought home a piece of pecan pie for the hubby and I did not hear any complaints. A solid decision time and time again!

We were in town for our anniversary on 7÷31÷14. I saw this mom and pop restaurant and was excited to try it. I love eating at small businesses and not chains. We sat down in a booth and looked to my left and noticed dead fruit flies and dirt on the edging next to wall. I used to work as a waitress and our job every night was to wipe down things like that… it was gross. The BLT special was poorly made. Too much mayo and the sandwhich looked like it went thru a guillotine. Not sliced nicely so half of my sandwhich didn’t have good bites. It was not a good sandwhich… it sat in my stomach the rest of the day like a load of bricks. Place looked like it hadn’t been really cleaned in a while. I was sad and unimpressed.

Tried breakfast here last week… steak, eggs, hash browns and toast. The best breakfast steak I have had for a long time. Everything was well prepared, service was fast and friendly. Be prepared for a bit of a wait if you come in Saturday morning. The place is a bit of a dive, but has great appeal because of the food. I’ll be back.

Love everything about it but I had to take a star off for the coffee. I did not care for the coffee I was served. It honestly tasted like someone made cigarette smoke flavored coffee. But on to the good, no great, stuff. I had the Denver Mess with over easy eggs, american cheese, added tomatoes and cinnamon raisin toast on the side. It was AWE-SOME! I would eat this like, every day if I had the chance and also the metabolism of a 15-year-old boy. The hashbrowns were cooked so well with ham, onions, peppers and tomatoes on top, melted cheese and then really well cooked eggs on top. We were told that the bread comes from Bread Art across the street and it was delicious. I will definitely go back! Tips: Cash or Check only, the bathroom is through the kitchen

Hubby and I had their Biscuit’s and Gravy Mess! Wow! So Yummy! It all tasted great! There was more than enough to share. The pancake was ok. It’s just a giant pancake. Flavor-wise, it wasn’t anything special. I would definitely come again.

This place most certainly is justa café… I visited this diner at approx. 7am on a weekday morning and there were many regulars sitting at the counter. The place could use some new glassware and a paint job, but the service was friendly and the food was tasty and filling. The walls must be suffocating due to the high volume of tacky signs posted on every square inch. Some are funny… after you’ve O.D.ed on caffeine. I’d go back, but there is nothing that makes this«café» stand our from any other breakfast/lunch establishment in the continental US.

As a pancake connoisseur I can state that the NJ has the best and certainly the largest. They are moist and full of flavor. I usually only order 1 along with a side of bacon. Best breakfast value in our area. It’s a small town café that looks like it did 40 years ago. Go for the food.

Hometown greasy spoon breakfast. The owners know what they are and so do their customers. People vote with their feet — the place is always busy. Maybe the bar isn’t set too high in Bayport for breakfast? Nice people though. Eat fast — they want your table!

The people are very friendly. The food was OK. I give it three stars. They did have something really interesting that I wanted to try, it was a Popcorn Chicken Mess Breakfast. If I remember correctly it was 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, onions, cheese, and popcorn chicken all topped in hallandaise sauce. I would have had it but I am kind of put off by fried food lately. Go ahead and check it out and let me know what you think!

Best breakfast around! Order a «mess». It’s a plate filled with eggs your way, hash browns and your choice of meat and extras all mixed together in a big mess. It’s a little bit of heaven.

As an egg beni addict, I was a little dissapointed in the lack of eggs smothered in egg sauce on top of fresh corned beef hash. But I figured I’d give the chicken fried steak a shot. It was cooked to perfection and thank god it was cubed! My table also tried the pancake, which is as big as a hub cap. The meal was huge, each plate could serve 2 easily. And the prices were great. This place is small, 8 booths only and a diner bar. Short story, 10000 year old couple walk in, and before she sits down, she has her favorite pancakes with whipped cream waiting at the table. SERVICE.
