I went to Daidokoro months ago when a friend and I were driving down Bell Blvd aimlessly looking for a dinner spot. We saw that it was a yakitori place and we instantly knew we had to try it. I think this place must not have been opened for too long; at least I hope not because then we can blame everything on «growing pains.» The menu is huge, so we asked the waitress for some recommendations… she didn’t seem to understand us and got someone else for us. The other girl was very nice and seemed to know what she was talking about, but half the things she recommended turned out not to be available after we ordered. Minor annoyance, but whatever. We ordered some other things and moved on… We ordered a bunch of small dishes to share, some yakitori and sushi. I don’t want to get into it specifically because maybe it is growing pains(like I said, I hope!) But, in my experience, the only thing I would marginally recommend is the sushi… but with Mr. Wasabi and Mickey’s Place just a few blocks away??? I don’t know, why bother? They do have a pretty good sake selection though… and the ambiance is beautiful.

I came to daidokoro one summer night with a girlfriend of mine. The food was averag Japanese cuisine. I stuck to a shrimp dish with noodles, while she got something with chicken and rice. I wouldn’t come back here; I’d go somewhere else that has better tasting Japanese food, preferably less expensive.

The place is inviting and good for groups. Food is a bit disappointing. Is not terrible but I guess I was expecting something a little better. Staff are attentive but I think they need a little more polishing.

I was very excited to see a new sushi place open up on Bell. This place looks really clean and nice on the inside, and the food is really decent. I’ve tried their sashimi, rolls, I hope they never take away their happy hour specials and roll combo deal(they’ve already started limiting on the options you can pick to only regular/basic rolls). But still, 2 regular rolls for $ 7 or 3 reg rolls for $ 10 is extremely affordable. I highly recommend coming here for their happy hours — it’s never too crowded, which is nice. Plus, this is totally random– but I notice that I REALLY love their music playlist. They should turn this into a club in the nighttime.

Everything is pretty average and given the prevalence of Japanese and other Asian dining options on the Bell Boulevard strip there’s nothing to make this place stand out. Appetizers were fine(chicken wings and Shumai) bit we found the Sushi rolls didn’t pop at all. The Miso Ramen was good, though, when asked to differentiate between the multiple Ramen dishes the waiter could not explain. That’s a problem. The place tries for the young vibe with electronic music a notch too loud running over the PA. The menu is also a bit too extensive which probably waters it all down. Bottom line: come for Ramen but get your sushi and other dishes elsewhere. It will save you some money, too.

Daidokoro manages to combine a quiet relaxing atmosphere with one of the best happy hour specials on Bell Blvd. The restaurant itself is nicely designed and they even have private booths if you are on the run and need to get some grub. The drinks seem to always be cheap ice cold and refreshing. The sushi rolls are your traditional rolls you would find in midtown with a few unique twists. I enjoy the fresh zucchinis in a spicy korean sauce they bring out while you wait to order. The apps are really well thought out and i especially enjoy the jalapeño poppers which have an asian twist to a classic. Overall great place for drinks and affordable fresh sushi.

I went there for the first time right after it opened because my friend loves sushi. After going there a few times I must say that this restaurant He loves the variety they have and the price is super affordable. If you are not a big lover of seafood/sushi, like me, you still have delicious options to choose from! I would absolutely recommend this place to friends. The décor is really beautiful and the staff is very friendly. They have great food and drink specials so it’s perfect if you don’t want to spend so much on your meal.

Decided to give this local place a try since I like j-food and I’ve been to many of the izakayas in manhattan and a few in Japan. I had high hopes but was disappointed at almost every turn. First the good: Draft Sapporo tasted fresh and was cold. The place was clean and the music not too loud. Service throughout the night was good, possibly because it was empty and they were overstaffed. We got complimentary edamame toward the tail end too. Now the bad: The menu was massive. THey seemed to want to do everything and in my experience that usually isn’t a good sign. They offered sushi/sashimi, kushikatsu skewers, izakaya fare, donburi bowls, and udon/ramen/curry. I decided to try the sashimi, kushikatsu, and izakaya fare. The sashimi came out first. It was fresher than expected and cut with some skill and it was better than the rest of the neighborhood probably. The salmon had red bean on it which was bizarre. I tried the beef and the chicken gizzard skewers. Both were dry and tough. I think they were frozen. The beef tasted like a tough overcooked hamburger on a stick. Next was the gyoza and chicken wings. Gyoza tasted ok but nothing special. They asked how I wanted them which has never happened to me before. I requested pan fried. The chicken wings came and they were tough so i assume they were frozen or a bit undercooked and not flavorful at all. The place has some potential but they need some help to cut the menu down and specialize in something so they can stock fresh ingredients and do some QC… and then market to the 20-something crowd in the area.

Last night was our second night trying this new place on Bell Blvd. and we were just as impressed as the first time. The first thing you admire is how attractive the place is! You can just tell that a lot of attention went into the design of this place. It has all the elements you want in a restaurant. It is romantic with out being stogy, and hip with out being a cliché on hip. The service continues to improve. You can tell that they are still training a relatively inexperienced wait staff, but the owners are very, very attentive to both the customers and their new employees so this will only improve over time. Because it’s fairly large this restaurant you could accommodate a large group here and as I prior reviewer note there is what appears to be a «Private Room» which can be reserved. If you like Sake or want to learn more about it this is a good place to go. They have various Sake’s in all price ranges but I agree with a prior reviewer, try the«Mu»(a bit pricey, but worth it), it really is quite tasty and not yet common in most places. Now on to the food. Everything we ordered was delicious both times we’ve been here. The Sushi was very fresh and the appetizers or «Noshes» were nice and tasty. Our only complaint was with the«Tempura Dipping Sauce». It could have used a touch more Ginger. We are looking forward to the«Outdoor Seating Area» but it is still under construction so I’d call before going if this is a priority for you. This place is a great addition to Bayside and Bell Blvd. Go, Eat, Drink and be Merry you won’t be sorry.

Daidokoro is the most elegant yet casual sushi experience in Queens. The lighting makes it good for dates, family dinners and, strangely, downing sake bombs if you sit at the bar. Located at the heart of Bell Boulevard, it is easily accessible by LIRR, and it is only a couple blocks away from a municipal parking lot. The food is priced roughly the same as the average NYC sushi fare. What makes the food at Daidokoro worth it is the different fusion combinations and advanced cooking techniques. I had a shrimp roll with a bunch of other stuff in it, and what seemed like bits of chips. The mix of fresh fish, sauce and crunch hit the spot in a way different from comfort foods like burgers or mac n’ cheese. This place is definitely worth it if you want to eat well and not count calories. The drinks selection is best than most sushi places. These people know how to pour Sapporo from the tap, and the sake selection is fairly wide. They have the better-known sakes, and they also carry more obscure sakes that any Japanese would know but that are unknown outside of the island. I had one that came in a can that Japanese construction workers get from vending machines. All the servers are very helpful and polite. And everyone speaks English perfectly. I’m making Daidokoro one of my regular spots.

About a month or so ago, I saw the front of the restaurant, and I was excited when I saw«Izakaya» in the sign on Bell Blvd. After watching a movie this past Saturday night, we went to Bell Blvd for dinner. We weren’t sure where we wanted to eat. After some walking, I saw that Daidokoro finally opened. It was around 10PM. We were greeted warmly, and they showed us to our seats. The ambiance was fabulous! Nice lighting, trendy/cute décor. There were many tables, a small separate room that looked like it’s for a private party for about 10 – 15 people, and a bar where you can sit. Seating was comfortable — looked like small box-type seats with cushions on top. On the televisions behind the bar, they had the Three Stooges on, which we found a bit odd but funny. Our server was really polite, patient(answered all our questions), and very attentive. The menu had a variety of food: a large selection of appetizers, yakitori, sushi, soba, etc. We ordered yakitori(2 chicken skin, 2 scallops wrapped in bacon), 2 sushi rolls(eel roll and salmon roll), the sashimi dinner(16 pieces, salad and miso soup), and 2 Yeunglings. The food was really good. The chicken skin was just okay — I’ve had better, but the scallop/bacon — yum! The rolls were pretty good. My fave had to be the sashimi — the fish tasted very fresh. Our bill came to about $ 65ish — a bit pricey, but hey have to consider what we ordered. The server told us that there will be outdoor seating in the back when it gets warmer. I will return! :-)

This restaurant just opened up and is continuing the trend of bringing stylish, NYC-esque eateries to Bell Boulevard. I can say I was very impressed with the restaurant overall. They’ve done a beautiful job with the décor mixing traditional and modern Japanese elements and pulling it all together to create a very inviting ambiance. The staff was super-friendly. The waiters offered to explain to us the different types of dishes on the menu and the owner even stopped by to chat with us for a bit. The food was delicious. I had the sushi while the other people I was with had the ramen. The quality is right up there with any ramen house in Flushing. The sushi was very good as well. We also shared some yakitori appetizers which are basically skewered meats. The sauce they used as a marinade was very tasty and the meat they brought out was very juicy. Their menu selection is large so there is definitely something for everyone. The prices were reasonable and varied — you can get a $ 5.00 sushi roll or a $ 20.00 teriyaki plate with soup and salad. I highly recommend it and will be returning very soon!

Since two weeks of opening I went there twice. This restaurant has such a wide selection of Japanese Sake. I found one of my favorite Sake, «Mu» in this place. Foods were not that expensive with such quality products that they use. You should try the hot stone giant clams. Which is served right on the table.
