So I’m not big on Asian food, but came here today as part of a staff lunch, and actually really enjoyed the food. I had the chicken teriyaki lunch special which comes with soup or salad and rice. The chicken had a really good flavor and wasn’t dry. Mixed in with the chicken were green bell peppers, broccoli and I think zucchini. Everyone else I was with got some kind of sushi and they all enjoyed it. I would definitely come back!

Good sushi but slow service. The rolls are always consistently good, but I would definitely anticipate it taking a while. I get the Tanko roll every time. It’s pretty much shrimp tempura with avocado and Kani salad on top. Prices are pretty reasonable. Plus there’s a lot in the back so it’s definitely a good spot on bell.

The sushi and sashimi was fresh and nicely displayed. The wait staff could have been a little more attentive. Loved the variety of rolls and specials

Do not order their«soba» noodles unless you want something similar to ramen noodles. They do not use Japanese buckwheat noodles, but some kind of yellow noodles. I’m sure you’ve noticed these issues in previous reviews, but I experienced them myself today: Our water cups were not refilled and customer service could’ve been better. If you’re there however and don’t mind the taste of miso, try the eggplant miso appetizer. It’s pretty good. Make sure to ask for a knife and fork because you’ll need it.

I ordered my delivery at 8pm… Its 10pm now. Still no food. I tried calling an hour ago and they told me the food was on its way. Never ordering here again.

Overall had a great first experience there. Would definitely go back. All of the food came out pretty quickly. They have a great sushi deal(3 rolls for $ 9.95!) so my mom and I shared that as an appetizer. The sushi tasted fresh and flavorful… And I have a sensitive stomach so if it passes my stomach test, you’ll be fine! For the entrée, I got a shrimp tempura ramen bowl while my mom got steak hibachi. She was seemingly content with her food, i was a bit more picky. My ramen bowl did not look anything like what the picture showed so I asked them to fix it. They added more to the bowl to make it similar, but I’m fairly certain the waitress told me the wrong thing from the start(she was new and didn’t fully know the menu, she very quickly went to correct it though). It didn’t taste bad, it just wasn’t what was pictured on the menu. The broth could have definitely been more flavorful. I’m curious to try the other menu items

Just came back from this place and I have to say that was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I’ve never Unilocaled before but felt the need to write my first review after this experience. The woman behind the desk(greeter) is always rude and the waitress wasn’t nice either. They left the front door open and my mother was freezing. We asked if we could shut the door and they said no. We waited over an hour for our sushi and asked numerous times for water. We never received our salad. The service was horrendous. They’re extremely rude and they are incredibly slow. The special rolls were the only good thing about this place. I’ll never go back. Ever.

Horrible night. The service was awful. It started by me asking the woman at the front desk if it was possible to close the front door as it was really cold. She refused to do so saying that it got pretty warm. She was extremely rude. She couldn’t close it for 10 minutes? My family and I waited over an hour for our order. The waitress never came to refill our water glasses. I had to talk to the owner to tell them that our order still hadn’t come and it was over one hour. He gave us some free edamame. GREAT. i think we deserved one some wine and beer. I would think twice before coming here.

I eat here for lunch, and multiple times they got my order wrong. Will not be coming here again. Would suggest you try the countless other of asian fusion restaurants on bell blvd.

Very disappointing this evening. First we waited over 30 minutes for our take out order. Then when we finally ate our sushi we were disappointed by the small size of the rolls. :-(

Tanko is definitely a good option for Asian fish on. I usually have their Japanese fare. The three roll combo for $ 10 is a good option. The rolls are fresh and a good size. In addition, the dinner bento boxes for $ 16 come with large portions. It comes with miso soup, salad, shumai, shrimp and vegetable tempora, and a California roll. I can never finish everything. I have also tried the hibachi chicken, while it was good I didn’t think the dish was authentic. Overall, I would definitely return for the Japanese food because it is reasonably priced and consistently good.

The service was quick, but waiting for the sushi took forever. the price is very good for bayside and I would recommend take out. I got the triple roll combination, two eel avocado and one eel cucumber $ 9.95 felt full. My fiancé had the sushi delux for $ 16. Along with a soup and salad, itt was a six piece generously filled tuna roll with ten nigiri that were well presented. The fish to rice ratio was good. However we had to wait a very long time for the rolls and some reassurance would have been nice since I was intently staring on multiple occasions.

I must say I came here with very low expectations from a place that has an all day special of $ 9.95 for three rolls and $ 1 sushi/sashimi pieces — my expectations were met. Upon entering this Asian Fusion establishment it has the look of nearly any type of these places that has opened in the past 5 years — wood and faux wood décor, led brightly colored lights, etc. you’ll know the look once you see it. I thought the place looked more upscale than the prices suggested. There is a second door that is kept open so when people open the outside door you can feel a draft of cold air depending on where you are sitting. The menu is a mix low cost sushi and higher priced«special rolls». There was a decent selection of typical maki rolls included in the $ 9.95 special so I had to find out how these were. I tried the yellowtail w/scallion, shrimp tempura, an rapier(tuna/salmon/avo) rolls. I ordered a piece of Belly Tuna and Eel — of course the $ 1 Belly Tuna was«sold out» — so just the Eel then. The rolls were decent and typical quality of many inexpensive/AYCE sushi places, with the fish portion on the smaller side. It was edible and priced right at $ 9.95, which is very cheap. The eel though was another story. When I put the piece in my mouth it tasted like most .99 cent stores smell, a mixture of moth balls/unknown chemicals. It was truly disgusting and I could not get the taste out of my mouth all night. The service was a bit rude and it felt like they were rushing us out. The plates in our party came out at random times so some had to wait 15 minutes for their food and the others in my party didn’t want to be rude so they waited to eat — it made everyone uncomfortable. They cleared the plates of the people that finished first immediately making the people still eating feel rushed. I can understand the appeal of low priced sushi, and if the service was better or if the unfortunate incident with the eel didn’t happen then I might be at 3 stars with this place. Overall it comes down to you get what you pay for and I don’t think bargain basement prices on raw fish is the way to go.

This is for their Grubhub service: made us wait 1 ½ hours, told us he’s right in the neighborhood, waited another ½ hour asked what we ordered gain and said he just left. Finally another 20 minutes and yup, you guessed it: nothing. Never once apologized and when I cancelled the order, I received a warm, «ok.» Thankfully, Grubhub issued a refund right away and unnecessarily apologized profusely. Never. Uh-gain!

This review is for their takeout/delivery only. I’ve ordered from them off seamless many times before and never had any problems. They always get my food to me within the estimated delivery time(ex: delivery est 2:30 — 2:36, food would get here by 2:36 on the dot) so no complaints there! Most sushi restaurants have the 2 regular roll lunch special and that’s what I order from here whenever I’m craving for a quick sushi fix. I always order the spicy salmon roll and salmon avocado roll with a side of miso soup. I also add an avocado salad to my order to meet the delivery minimum, heh. The rolls are good and always satisfy my craving. They’re basic rolls so it’s hard to mess them up. The miso soup is almost always hot when it gets to me so I think it tastes fine. I like the ginger dressing that comes with the avocado salad; it’s light and refreshing. I’ve never dined in this restaurant nor have I ordered anything else besides the regular rolls but I think it’s a decent place to stop by if you’re craving for a simple roll. Their prices are reasonable and their location is convenient esp for people who live around the area.

My first time here, Sunday after Thanksgiving, party of 5. The waitress was basically polite, but her English was a bit poor, and she didn’t seem too concerned with whether or not there was MSG in their shumai. She seemed confident in telling us that the shumai is fine, but wasn’t sure about the sauce, and didn’t exactly rush off to ask anyone. We asked if they could cut smaller pieces of the chicken tempura roll for my 8 year old, and the waitress asked if we’d just like a knife. LOL. She finally relented and said she’d have them cut the smaller pieces. Miso soup was a bit sour, sushi was very good. Free orange and canned pineapple free when they bring you the check. I think it’s their special pricing that’s keeping them afloat. I likely won’t return, only because there are better places to go, and I’m willing to shell out an extra $ 10 for more friendly and accommodating service.

We’ve been waiting 90 minutes for our order and we still haven’t received it yet. I called to get the status of the delivery and the woman who answered the phone was absolutely no help. I’m guessing customer service isn’t that high on their list of priorities. I won’t be ordering from them again.

There’s always a need to find a back up spot for sushi in Queens and we’ve found it! Hubby and I were looking for a not-so-heavy meal and walked all over Bell Boulevard. We saw Tanko and said why not?! Let’s try it. We’re glad we did. The place is super modern with pretty décor. I love the lighting and atmosphere. Felt very hip! We were seated next to the beautiful fish tank and got right to ordering. For sushi rolls, we got the shrimp tempura, eel avocado and spicy salmon. The spicy salmon roll was a bit small but it was good. The shrimp tempura was spot on and good. The eel avocado was delicious — good portion. Rolls are a bit more expensive here but you can do the three roll deal for $ 9.95. Regular rolls come with eight pieces versus six. Saw that special rolls come in 10 pieces versus eight. As for the sushi, you can’t go wrong with salmon. Hubby loved it and said it was very fresh. The eel sushi wasn’t good. Not sure if it was a bad piece because the eel avocado was great! Spicy salmon sushi(MYFAVORITE) could be better but it’s not bad. It could use more flavor as it was a bit bland and stuffed a bit more with salmon versus rice. The sushi was a bit more pricey at $ 2 a piece. And you can’t mess up inari(tofu skin) so that was fine. If you like toro and uni, their price is unbeatable for $ 1. I’m not crazy about that type of fish but hell, I’ll eat it for that deal! Definitely coming back when we have sushi cravings in Queens and trying one of those special rolls!

First time doing takeout here(never ate at the restaurant either). I thought this place would be decent after reading some good Unilocal reviews. Nope. I was soooo wrong. Horrible quality. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, eel avocado roll, and a shrimp tempura appetizer. There was barely any spicy tuna in the roll, the eel was too soft and mushy, and the veggie tempuras from the shrimp tempura appetizer was drenched in so much oil that I couldn’t finish them(omg, I still feel sick writing this). Blehhh* Overall, the food that I ordered was not enjoyable at all. Maybe I ordered too early in the day or maybe I should’ve dined-in instead of takeout. Who knows. Would I give it a second chance? Probably not. Too many other sushi joints to try out. I’m putting this one behind me. Oh, I ordered at 11:30am if anyone wants to know. They might of used the old tempuras from the night before and refried them. However, I can’t explain the spicy tuna part.

Came a second time to try other things on the menu. I believe their sushi is best. I tried two different entrees: general tso and crispy sesame chicken. It wasn’t as good as i thought it would be. The sauce on both dishes were slimy and looked like snot. It grossed me out, i couldnt finish it, nor did I want to take it home. This time around, the waitress didnt give us the gyoza we ordered. Its ok… we weren’t charged. Dhe must have not heard us. I ended up getting the tanko roll and some other roll. Both really good. The dessert, i was a little disappointed. I got the pistaccio icecream in white choc and amaretto icecream. They weren’t bad, but not great either. I’m going to leave this at 4 stars because I am really satisfied with their sushi, and plan on coming back for that.
