Sushi Bell

First things first… this sushi place is a million times better than Mr. Wasabi just a few blocks down, in terms of both customer service and food. There’s parking for this place right outside and it’s right next to Domino’s. Service is fast and the place is clean. They have good deals for the sushi and the food is relatively fresh. As other’s said, it’s a delicious and solid place to get sushi.

Ordered: California, spicy crunch tuna, shrimp tempura avocado, and Boston roll. Pretty standard rolls no complaints besides the shrimp tempura having too much tempura and no shrimp. The girl who took my order was super nice and the soy sauce containers were taped on the sushi container so nothing spilled during my drive home.
Final thoughts: average nothing spectacular but can’t speak on the freshness of the fish

Super friendly staff. I always come here for take out whenever I’m craving for sushi because I’m close to home. The price is pretty cheap for any 2 combo compare to other places. The reason it’s not a full 5 star is because of that one time I got salmon sushi for dinner and got a stomach ache after. I just figured it was because I went there when it was half an hour before closing. It didn’t stop me from ordering afterwards & I had no problem. I’ve dine in here once & the fried ice cream is so yummy. This will always be my to go place for sushi.

Always pretty quiet and no wait. Staff is very courteous and quick. Not a very expansive menu, but prices are very good with combo specials.

It’s a small «hole in the wall» type of place but very clean and nice inside. The sushi is always good and they have good combos. Not too many speciality rolls but overall satisfies a craving. Prices are very decent too. I like this place. It’s my small sushi spot go to.

The staff there are so respectful and polite. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend this place for quality sushi.
I always get the two roll special, usually spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. Its always good! The specialty rolls are good too. My favorite has spicy tuna inside and on top with crunchy and avocado! #delicious

Although the options are very limited, the special rolls are amazing. The price is not bad for what you get. I highly recommend the caterpillar and pink lady roll. They are my favorite!

Ordered the Two Special Rolls for $ 12.95. I ordered the Pink Lady Roll along with the Spider Roll. This was more than enough to eat. They play their own mainstream radio songs on an iPod and the environment is cozy.

My second favorite sushi spot on bell!
I usually take it to-​go since I live near by and my order ALWAYS consists of: White Castle Roll, which is eel cucumber roll with cream cheese that’s torched on top and Pink Lady Roll, which is spicy salmon roll with salmon on top. The salmon from here tastes super fresh and it’s just yummy! I’ve also ordered the Troika Tempura Roll, which is tuna, salmon, white fish tempura with avocado, caviar and it’s pretty tasty as well. They also have roll combos at good prices including special roll combos so it’s definitely worth it! I’ve gotten their kani salad before and it’s ok, but I’ve had better.
The girls who take the orders are always super nice and never make any mistakes.
One downside is that they do not deliver :(I would order from here so much more if they offered delivery services!

The outside of the store is non-​descript and bland. Doesn’t instill one with the sense of ‘good food’, especially seeing how it’s right next door to a Domino’s Pizza (bleah!)
When you walk in, the decour is faux-​Japanese, done well, despite some people calling it «the Ikea look». If the outside is drab, the inside is somewhat cheery. Appears very clean.
Main waitress is clearly Chinese. Younger waitress looks Japanese to me. I didn’t see the person who prepared the food.
Menu is Japanese food only, which is a good thing. The menu is somewhat limited in its offerings (for example, no toro, no tamago). I didn’t see anything that totally wowed me out. Looked pretty standard.
Price is medium range. Not expensive. Not cheap, either.
The fish is tasteless. I ordered a roll and was shocked by the lack of flavor. I then ordered some sashimi so I could sample the fish quality, and found the fish quality to be poor. It shouldn’t make a difference, but we sampled the food on a Sunday afternoon. Perhaps the food is fresher on another day.
Unagi Sashimi: B+
This is an unusual unagi, at least what they served me. I’ve never seen a fatty unagi before in my life, and I’ve devoured countless eels. Very fatty, very tasty. There were a few inedible bones in the piece of unagi that they served, which indicates it was slightly old /​slightly cheaper unagi. It’s the expensive young’uns that have bones that melt in your mouth. Still, good flavor. Expensive because the cut was rather small. Believe it or not, unagi is way cheaper in Japan!
Double Crunch Spicy Tuna Roll: C
All I could taste was rice and spicy mayonnaise. Other than the texture, I couldn’t detect the presense of the meguro at all. It tasted like rolled up rice and spicy mayo. I told my wife she could finish it. I didn’t want to eat the rest. But now I was curious. This sushi place gets ⁴⁄₅ stars. Is that bogus? Is the fish high quality and I just couldn’t see it? Mass insanity on Unilocal?So I ordered meguro and hamachi sashimi a la carte, just to sample the quality of the fish.

The servers are always so nice and polite. Place is clean and bright. I usually get the boxes here, it comes with soup, salad, choice of sushi roll, veggie tempura, and a few pieces of shumai. Their salad dressing is not the typical orange salad dressing you would find in other Japanese places. The dressing is more tangy and they use lemons. They also offer roll combinations.
I usually get the spicy tuna crunch roll. I tried the halloween roll once, which included a tempura kabocha filling. I feel like you can’t go wrong with any of the rolls on the menu.
When you have a craving for sushi this is a good place go. It’s simple and delicious. Nothing too fancy and the price is decent.

Oh my gosh. just had the first take out from this restaurant and my immediate response was, how come I didn’t know about this sushi spot from the beginning? I ordered the special combo rolls: tiger sushi and super shrimp tempura with avocado. It was amazing! I will definitely be back to try more rolls and to satisfy my sushi craving, of course! Yum!

We had the ‘LOVE BOAT’ (got to love the name) Sushi /​Sashimi plate for two.
Perfectly edible. Yet nothing special. Price was in the midrange.
Will definitely do if you are hungry. But I am a food snob. And I know about One or Eight in Williamsburg.

Wow I was so blown away! Bell sushi doesn’t look promising on the outside, but their sushi is amazing! Super fresh and soooo tasty! Prices are good too. I’m definitely going back. (Plus they have free parking)

As far as sushi in Bayside goes, I’m quite loyal to River on Springfield Ave — but sometimes you’ve got to mix it up. Sushi Bell is ultra casual; You can easily tell all the furniture and décor is from IKEA. As an appetizer, we shared the soft-​shell crab salad — because you really can’t go wrong with meaty, deep-​fried chunks of breaded crustacean and ginger dressing. And for our meal, we ordered the Sushi & Sashimi combo special. Decent portion for two people, the special rolls were yummy and the cuts of sashimi were large and thick! The rest of the sushi was only alright, though. Don’t be fooled: The large hot sake may only be $ 6 each, which is why we thought getting two would be a great value, but that’s because it isn’t very good. Trust me, the several AYCE sushi spots within a short driving distance of here are a better bang for your buck.

The food here is amazing. I’ve been a regular here for about 5 – 6 years now and you can’t find anywhere else better than this place. The price is amazingly good and reasonable and the portions are no smaller than other places that have higher prices. When you order a combo you get miso soup for free. This is great cause I like eating my sushi with the soup. Some other places charge for it and it’s ridiculous. Definitely my go to place for sushi! Would recommend to everyone. I have so many friends that fell in love with this place too.

Second time here and we liked it just as much as the first time. This time we ordered the sashimi deluxe dinner to share as well as some a la carte items. We ordered a fried soft shell crab salad, tamago, and two hand rolls. The best part of tonight’s meal was the sashimi. All pieces were fresh and good sized. The biggest disappointment was the hand rolls. It wasn’t really well rolled. Plus the kind that I got had pieces of tempura pieces that was the crunchy in the crunchy salmon hand roll. Like last time, the miso soup want that good. Lacking a full miso flavor.
Service is always great and that bumped up a 3.5 review up to a solid 4.

I came here 2x so far. Its only a few minutes from where I live. This spot serves decent Japanese food. I’ve had a lot better. The service is pretty awesome and is the main reason I’m giving this spot 3 stars instead of 2. Today I ordered the Miso Soup, Vegetable Tempura, Double Crunch Spicy Tuna Roll, and the Caterpillar Roll. The Miso Soup had a good amount of flavor. I hate going to places where the soup is just bland. The Tempura had a nice crunch. I did not care much for either sushi rolls. The place is cute but the food could be better.

As long as you dont get all fancy with ikura (salmon roe) or uni (sea urchin) this place is great! Excellent quality sushi and healthy lunch! Friendly and quick service, too.
Definitely go-​to sushi place on Bell Blvd. If you want to meet up a friend for sushi and not break the bank, go to Sushi Bell.
We had sushi for two, and it was plenty of food — very good food for a reasonable price.

This is my go-​to sushi place since my high school years (about 8 years-​ish now). It’s close, it’s cheap and it’s good.
The menu has expanded to include salads, hot foods, and even dessert. I have yet to try their other food since I’m used to just getting my sushi fix here but I’m happy to see they have other options besides sushi rolls now.
Get the special combo. I think it’s the best deal here. For $ 11.95, you can get 2 special rolls. That’s about $ 6 a roll that would normally cost you like $ 10+ at other nearby sushi places. And the rolls are filling and also pretty good. Won’t say it’s the best sushi I ever had but the sashimi and ingredients are usually fresh and neat. The rolls come with miso soup too and the tea is free. Cool. The regular rolls are pretty good too, even though I usually go with the special ones. The rolls I’ve had and approve of: rainbow roll, caterpillar roll, pink lady roll, spider roll, tiger roll, super shrimp tempura roll, spicy crunch salmon roll, and alaska roll.
While I’d love to see some more adventurous rolls pop up in the future, this is still a pretty standard place to get those common rolls.
Service is always great– the young women that work here is always so friendly, polite, and attentive. I never had any complaints. Our meals always comes pretty quickly too. Also, they’ve expanded to the store spot next door so they have a lot more seating than they used to. I never have to wait for a table. But they still have smaller tables so I don’t know how well they’d do with larger parties. They have a tight parking lot right in the store-​front with 5 spots. Sometimes it’ll be full, sometime’s it’ll have a space for you.
Overall, decent, convenient, and CHEAP spot for me to get sushi. Win.
