Sliced turkey was perfect, tender with great flavor; as was the beef. I was with a large group and everyone said the same thing, «that was good.» The sauce was nothing special but the meats were good enough not to notice. One of the group said the banana pudding was excellent but I didn’t try it myself.

I ordered a spicy sausage sandwich through the drive through on Sunday right before the NFL playoff games and when I got home found the sausage itself was rotten and tasted of kerosene(that’s the best I can describe it.) Obviously I couldn’t eat it. On Monday after work, I took my receipt back and went through the drive through and tried to explain the problem, didn’t ask for my money back or anything just wanted them to know about the problem. They took my receipt went in the back for 20 seconds and then came back and said they couldn’t help me and slammed the drive through window in my face. Wish I could give this place zero stars.

My only complaint would be that I asked for turkey on my stuffed potato and got chopped beef. Other than that, I am in heaven. Their BBQ is outstanding. Not quite 4 Corners good, but hands down better than Steve’s or King’s! I’d eat here every day if I could

Since the new owners have taken over, the quality of the service and food have been outstanding.

Dry, gray colored brisket. Tastes like it has been boiled. Ribs and sausage are a bit better, but not great. The $ 2/pound surcharge for getting less than a pound of any meat is for the birds.

Had the Two meat plate all the meat needs better seasoning. I don’t like to use BBQ sauce to flavor my meat plus the BBQ sauce was bad. Cake which was recommend by the cashier was not moist this was my first and last time there.

Firstly let me say I’m a novice foodie. I expect quality for my money. BUDSBBQ is decent with room for improvement. Ordered the 2 meat dinner plate, originally with brisket and turkey, sides of ‘tater salad and jambalaya. I asked if they had pulled pork, after all, what BBQ joint dont? They JUST started serving it, so it’s not advertised. Huh? Can’t sell it if I can’t see its available. Anyway, changed my order to brisket and pork. Brisket is a lil on dry side but tasty, needs some more smoke. The sauce helped but also needs some kick. The pulled pork is NOT smoked at all. WTF? Isn’t smoked pork the standard? The tater salad was in desperate need of salt and pepper, thankfully I carry my own grinders. So tater salad, saved. The jambalaya looks and tastes like it’s from a box. Served with jar sliced pickles and rings of white onion, not even pickled onion which would’ve been nice. And 2 slices bread. Spent abt $ 11.50. Worth maybe $ 8.

Bud’s serves some of the better BBQ in Baytown. Ribs are tender, sides are good and the BBQ sauce is good. Pros — Drive-Thru Window, good food, reasonably priced. Cons — I guess some menu items are hit or miss. Overall, I prefer this joint over Kings or Going’s.
This place has gone downhill from the fledgling years I spent in Baytown. Apparently, Bud’s is now serving junk Sysco Foods potato salad and featuring four tasteless, thick cut and terribly bland chunks of meat on a bun slathered in a disgusting bottled bbq sauce and trying to pass it off as a sliced beef sandwich. It took 10 minutes for them to prepare this nonsense while the restaurant was a virtual ghost town. Literally three customers, all previously served, in the post-lunch hour. With lethargic service like that, I expected, bare minimum, decent food. I was wrong. Bud’s disappointed me on every level today. I have run out of cusswords for this place and have had to make new ones. Thankfully, I have spared you, dear reader, from seeing them in this review. Maybe I can also spare you a wasted trip to a junk restaurant.

sept. 23, 2011 My wife and I ordered a lean sliced beef sandwich — it says LEAN right on the menu but it was NOT lean, it was full of fat. If you like fatty sliced beef, Bud’s is your place. Rick N.

Best BBQ in Baytown, forget Steve’s and Goeings… this place is where it is at! The ribs are so flavorful and have a delicious sweet smoky crust, dipped in their famous BBQ sauce it is close to nirvana! The sliced turkey breast sandwich is my favorite, I always get one or two just in case I haven’t satisfied my hunger. Some days they have awesome coconut pie! A lot of local clientele and always crowded on Sundays after the church-goers get out.

Bud’s BBQ in Baytown is ehhh. I’ve eaten there a few times(smh) its near my job and they are one of the last restaurants open. Its in the Kroger’s strip center and it has a drive-thru now that’s a plus. The chicken was dry and the sides were just blah. Now the fully loaded chicken potato was good minus the sauce is a good pick and it can feed two people. But I don’t recommend to much more from Bud’s. If you’re hungry and its after 9pm yum yum

Bud’s is a good BBQ place. It doesn’t have the best of everything, but I’ve never had anything bad there. I do prefer some items like the turkey baked potatoes, when they aren’t out of baked potatoes. Recently, I’ve noticed that some of the sides seem to have less flavor than before. For example, the beans. It doesn’t matter which type of beans, either. Each time I’ve had to add some more seasoning to them. It might be a sign, but I hope not. They are located in a prime spot in Baytown, so it’s easy access to get to when in the BBQ mood and they have a drive-thru. The above might be because the past few times I’ve gone in, I’ve gotten the impression that the ownership has changed hands by some minor changes here and there that seem out of «Texas character.» I’d recommend giving this place at least a try to see if you like it.
