We go to the custard hut probably once a week. The ice cream is really good and so are the prices. They have sidewalk chalk, jump rope and hula hoops to keep the kids occupied. The décor on the walls need to be dusted … A lot of cob webs. We saw ex Phillies pitcher Mitch Williams picking up some pizza one night.

Just had a horrible horrible customer service(approaching hostile level) and food experience at Custard Hut & Pizza. Manager pretty much targeted me with entire staff surrounding him(and me) He made me feel something was«wrong» with me, because the clam strips i ordered was a huge rip off, $ 7.50 bucks for a cup of «popcorn» clam strips that had no meat, I called them on way home and they told me to return. In hindsight, i am thinking this was a set-up. so yes I decided to drive all the way back there. Manager said to me me” I remember you, your face is hard to forget, what is wrong with you, why did you come back here?”(this is only 2nd time i had been there once before with another bad experience which they did nothing for either). In my defense, at 1030pm there is really nothing open for real food(and i tried to get my woodies and didnt feel like driving to chicken or egg — a fav.) Thus the return. He literally had the entire staff around me. I replied, «…sir i am not here to get into an argument, i am dis-satstifed by your product and well, it’s your business, you can do whatever you want…» But yes as a hard-working, hungry American, I do have that thing called opinion and right to complain– unless Christie has banned that without my knowledge. Well in sum after my opnion was shared, and driving all the way back after told i would be refunded, he just got aggressive, angry, defensive, and personal with the«whats your problem, i remember you, your face, look is hard to forget.» Okay am i that ugly? man NOTCOOL, even for an ice cream place. He was defended his poor product and rip off and said price was comparable to island, hmmmm, not really not for 5 puny popcorn. Next time its doyles or boulevard. Alot of more people out there who are passionate about food and service. and this is why every day when I am at work I care so much about my customers and their food. .Its so important to make people feel good at your business. Create a good outcome. Otherwise, you are just another ice cream shop out of million. He probably inherited it from father and does not«have» to care because LBI tourism money just takes no effort. Well i just will shake that nasty man off today, had too much of a great day at beach to let some Turkey and his bad«tude» ruin it. Chicken or the Egg I love you. Greenhouse café I love you. Dom’s I love you. Kubles you rock. And woodies, of course. Hey even the girls at the Surf City arcade(great ice cream) are full of love and hospitality, dont go here, if you want love with your food., go here if you want INDIGESTION and a RIPOFF.

We went to this custard shop hoping for a selection of custards. They had soft serve vanilla and chocolate custard and a selection of Turkey Hill ice cream. They also offer pizza, subs and other food — I should have guessed it’s not a true ice cream place. Since we were not interested in Turkey Hill ice cream, we left without getting anything. The name of the place seemed deceiving to us.

Stopped in for some ice cream and custard. I tried a chocolate custard with sprinkles and was shocked by the huge size of a medium. The custard was delicious and creamy. My boyfriend wanted hard ice cream and was disappointed to find out it was simply Turkey Hill ice cream(would have preferred something homemade or local).

Service too slow with no explanation. Order incomplete. Gyro sandwich extremely bad tasting. Inappropriately expensive. Won’t be back anytime soon. Needs major management change.

Nice, big menu of tasty food. Service is always pleasant and quick enough. It’s a super casual place that has three tables inside, but there is also outdoor seating with about 12 big picnic tables. They also offer jump roping and chalk for the kids while you wait. Haven’t had the pizza, but the custard, ice cream and sandwiches are all great. Give those a try! 4 American flags on the top of the hut AND free delivery? You better believe it. Love me some custard hut.

Really delicious pizza. Huge fold in half style slices with generous toppings. Crust is thin and chewy; my favorite! We’ve ordered from here a few times while visiting LBI and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great selection and variety, especially for the location. They have a shockingly tiny«large» shake. There are plenty of more generously portioned ice cream places on the island.

Hurricane Sandy allowed this snack bar to renovate inside and now clean and neat inside. They have your average snack bar fare — burgers, cheese steaks, salads, pizza and ice cream. My kids love coming here and I can tolerate their cheese steak — huge portion size. Like most of LBI their prices are higher than they would be if off island. The staff is young but always friendly and attentive. Very small inside dining but plenty of picnic tables outside.

This place looks a bit shabby I’ll admit I had passed it for years without stopping. My FIL gets the credit for dragging us in for custard one night, because it was his favorite. Well I found out then and there that the custard is fantastic AND they have ORANGEVANILLATWIST! This is my absolute favorite at «another place» but I must say it might be better here! they serve ice cream till midnight in summer and have ample indoor seating. They also tend to have very pleasant employees, always a plus!

We have several frozen custard places near where we live in VA and were pleased to find some options for the same up here. Custard Hut delivers in wonderfully tacky island form. Seriously though, SOMANYCHOICES. I can’t imagine how you could walk out of here with anyone in your party dissatisfied. Been here several times and the staff have been consistently helpful & friendly. Also appreciate their separate BEERTIPS and COLLEGETIPS jars :) Pick your poison. Watch out for the #wordcrimes in their sign.

The hard ice cream is turkey hill. I haven’t tried the soft custard which they are known for. They also have soft creamsicle which is hard to find. Pizza was very thin. Decent pizza for a quick walk from the beach.

Yummy! Good ice cream. They also have lunch and dinner eats. Though I’ve only ever got the ice cream and custards here, they’ve all been good. Creamy & good flavor. They have some oudoor tables for nice weather. They’re in a little alcove on the Boulevard, so there’s plenty of parking. They also deliver, except for ice cream. Open late, till 11or 12.

Nice little ice cream shop that also sells food. I haven’t tried their food but they have pizza, chicken sandwiches and cheese steaks, fries etc. Went there for ice cream, it’s turkey hill ice cream. I liked it, it was very good, I got the salted Carmel which was delicious and the chocolate marshmallow. I did get my son the custard ice cream soft serve ice cream it was sweet but I still liked it. They also do sundaes and also a key lime pie dipped in chocolate. They deliver too. They have a lot of benches outside in cute pastel colors and for the kids they have hula hoops and chalk for them to draw outside. I’ll have to go back and get some food and try the custard again since it is called The custard Hut :)

This place looks deceiving, old, small, perhaps run down, why stop here and not one of the 100 other stops along the drag? BECAuSE It’s AWESOME! The ice cream is endless, something like 25 flavors of sorbet, custard and standard ice cream. And then there is food too!- Philly cheese steaks are delicious! Pizza, wraps, it goes on! Bring the kids and sit outside, they can jump rope, hula hoop or chalk art on the sidewalk with the tools they supply… oh and they’re open til midnight! Can’t beat it!

OK — I hate to be the downer here but I was pretty disappointed with this place. In this part of LBI, there are a number of ice cream places. We chose this one based on the Unilocal reviews, but I must question my fellow Unilocalers on this one. To start, they do not have a large selection of hard ice cream and no soft ice cream, at all. Yes, I know the name is Custard Hut but I still would have figured that they had some soft ice cream. They do have frozen yogurt and custard, obviously. I went with a small cup of the vanilla custard — I thought it was decent — not the greatest I have had but definitely acceptable. For a place to don the custard name, I was expecting a little bit more. One of the issues here was the people they had running the place. It took close to 10 minutes for us to be served a plain cup of custard and 2 cones(no one else was ahead of us or behind us). The one girl who took our order didn’t seem to know how to work the register and then forgot to give my wife her change. Kind of a disaster. If I was in the area again looking for some ice cream or custard, I will probably give a different place a shot.

OK — so here’s the deal… you’re driving down the main drag in Long Beach Island & there are about a million ice cream shops. I’m not sure what it is about the sand & the sea that makes you want ice cream, but I’m like a Pavlov Dog. End of day, after dinner… let’s get some ice cream! The first time we drove by the«Custard Hut» I turned my nose up. What the %#$@ is CUSTARD? I had visions of some flan like substance being shoved into a cone. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Custard is basically a creamier more heavenly version of soft ice cream. And, oh THEIRSISSOGOOD! They also have tons of regular ice creams, ices, toppings and some fast food items. But what you really want is a cone or cup filled with their soft cold creamy custard. It beats all ice creams, and makes fro-yo almost laughable! Sit outside, bring the kids & let them play with the supplied jump ropes & hula-hoops. It’s a delightful little stop on the Island.

This place is awesome… People come from all over the island to try the homemade custard at custard hut. And its worth it… Its also one of the few places to get fried goodies like chili fries and chili burgers etc… Great place all around especially on a hot summers day…
