Redeemed via PoBoy!!! I wrote my first review about Bayou Café Downtown with negative comments about the extremely salty chicken & sausage gumbo, BUT, I had a shrimp PoBoy during my «second chance» visit, and they completely redeemed themselves. Great sized sandwich with large fried shrimp, addicting grilled bread, and just enough sauce to let you enjoy all the flavors. I’m sad I didn’t take a photo, but I will next time I get over there! Very convenient to walk over there if you work in the Edison Plaza or anywhere in Downtown Beaumont, too.

We are here for the second time the other day. Last time they had a steam table, so it’s been a while! We both ordered the fish po’boy sandwich. It took a while to get it, but then it was prime time lunch and it’s not fast food restaurant. Sandwich was huge and delicious. Roll was buttered and grilled perfectly. Tartar sauce is made by them and it’s delish, but the taste stays in your mouth all day. Garlic heavy. Slaw is thick cuts of cabbage and very good. The only reason I didn’t give the place 5 stars is the grease smell inside. My clothes and hair smelled like oil after dining in. They need a better vent hood or it needs a cleaning, or both.
